If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/16/11

It’s here, it’s here! School has officially begun for my family. What that means for me is my schedule may get flipped and stay flipped for a while. haha During the school year, I tend to be awake at night, and then go to sleep after my kid leaves for school, waking up just before he gets home late in the afternoon (like at 4:15…). Fun stuff! Why I sleep better during the day, I couldn’t tell you. I just know I usually do! Anyway, that leaves me a lot of time at night to work, write, beta—and catch up on great TV, which is important, since we’re coming up on the new Fall season! Eek! But for tonight, there’s some great things on, so check out what we think you should be watching!

My pick tonight is the season finale of Memphis Beat. Last week’s episode was so great. I loved seeing Dwight and Whitehead away from the precinct. The case they ended up working on reminded me of Clue, where the murderer was someone IN THE HOUSE! lol I dunno, I just really enjoyed it. But honestly, the best part of the episode was seeing Lt. Rice, Sutton, and Greenback working together to figure out who the guy was in the drunk tank and how he got there, since he seemed a little… out of it and unable to remember anything. It was heartbreaking when he remembered little snatches of information, and so heartwarming at the end when his sister—who they finally figured out who she was and somehow were able to get in touch with her—came to pick him up. It turned out that he was a bi-polar schizophrenic and had been missing from wherever he was living for five days. The other great part about last week was the inclusion of Paula Ann, Dwight’s mother. She ended up braving the storm to bring Dwight and his co-workers some sandwiches and stayed when the storm was too bad to go back out into. She fixed the generator on her own, got Joe/Ronnie the “prisoner” to remember the first thing, and just as she always does when she’s on screen, made me laugh, shake my head, and wish my mom were more like she is.

Tonight is the season finale and there’s no word yet on renewal. I have my fingers crossed. It would be a crying shame if this show got canceled! It’s not perfect (then again, what on TV nowadays is?!), but I adore it.

On tonight’s episode, when a girl from one of two feuding families is found shot, Dwight must do everything he can to make sure no more blood is shed. Back at the station, Dwight has trouble separating his love life from his job, when Davey and Greenback discover he has a new girlfriend and make it their personal mission to include her in an upcoming birthday party. Amy Madigan (Fringe, Grey’s Anatomy, Carnivale) & Lance Henriksen guest star.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/9/11

Did anyone else watch that amazing episode of Teen Wolf last night? Wasn’t it creepy and delicious? All I can think is that if that episode was so good, where is the season finale going to take us? Enough about last night’s television. Let’s see what tonight has to offer!

Combat Hospital might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it amuses me. I enjoy not only the relationships, but the medical cases, as well. I’ve also been loving the Canadian voice the show has (obviously because I’m proudly Canadian), and the cast is really quite good. The sexual tension between Dr. Simon Hill (Luke Mably, The Gates) and Major Rebecca Gordon (Michelle Borth, Hawaii Five-0) is starting to reach its breaking point, and I’m excited to see where it takes us.

On tonight’s episode, Bobby makes a controversial decision to try and save a patient at all costs, and that decision opens a rift beween the doctors and the nurses at Role 3 hospital.

Tune in to ABC at 10/9c to see how far Bobby goes and what it costs him. Learn where to find episodes online of Combat Hospital @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/2/11

It’s hard to believe that August is here already! On one hand, we’re all sad because summer will soon be wrapping up, but on the other hand, we can all be excited for a new fall season of television. 🙂 Although this summer may just be the first summer in ages where I haven’t yet started counting down the days, and I believe that’s because of the amazing summer television I’ve been enjoying. Let’s see what will be keeping us (and you!) busy tonight.

Hell’s Kitchen is full of drama this season, and it’s making for a rocky competition. Elise seriously has the biggest mouth of all the chefs. However, she doesn’t always have the talent to back it up. I hope that both the blue and red teams can get their stuff together and start doing some actual cooking without the drama. Not likely, though. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, the remaining 12 chefs find themselves in the middle of another intense challenge as the red team faces off against the blue team when they attempt to avoid being on the losing end of a competition that will see the unfortunate become demoralized. As usual, there is great food, bad food, and a side of drama.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/26/11

I’m still trying to recover from this past weekend’s non-stop Comic-Con adventure, tackling the 30+ TV show backlog that has accumulated on my TiVo since last Tuesday. I had a great time meeting and hanging out with fellow contributor Megan and her sister at the NBC Comic-Con party last Saturday, where it was so exciting to see many of the stars of Chuck, Community and Grimm walking among us “common folk”. – Kyle

In addition to the usual Fox and USA lineups, I am also looking forward to Flipping Out on Bravo. This series is always a fun break from the scripted comedies and dramas and food competition shows I normally watch. Jeff Lewis is always hilarious and sarcastic, demanding the impossible from his employees. I often wonder what kind of counseling these people must go through after all the years of working with Jeff!

On tonight’s episode, “What Stays in Vegas,” Jeff throws Sarah a bachelorette party in Vegas and Zoila gets her face lift.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/19/11

Well, people going to Comic-Con are on their way to San Diego. I’m so jealous, it’s not even funny. I’ve already been promised that a contact of mine will be giving Christopher Gorham a hug for me in the Covert Affairs press room. 😉 Speaking of Covert Affairs & Chris Gorham, don’t miss the great new Q&A with the man himself. It’s posted HERE. It’s all about tonight’s new episode, so check it out, and then check out what we recommend (besides that show. 😉 ) you watch tonight below.

Jenny’s Choice #1

I’m so excited that you guys get to watch tonight’s episode of Covert Affairs. In preparation for my conference call with Chris Gorham last week (see above!), I got to watch the episode early, and I have to say, it’s one of my favorites of the series so far. Gorham is so great in every episode of the show, but tonight, he is brilliant. I heard a good while back that we would be getting an episode that dealt solely with Auggie’s back story, and tonight is that episode. We get a good bit of Annie in the episode, a tiny bit of Joan, but for the most part, the episode is all Auggie, all the time. He does an amazing job playing a sighted Auggie in addition to playing the blind character we are used to watching. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. If you do, please Tweet @Chris_Gorham and let him know!

On tonight’s episode, while attending a jazz festival in the city of Istanbul, Auggie finds himself face-to-face with the man who blinded him, and decides to pursue him alone. Annie is able to uncover revealing information about Auggie’s past. Rebecca Mader (No Ordinary Family, Lost) guest stars.

Do NOT miss the new episode tonight on USA Network at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Covert Affairs @ Clicker.
