chicagopd1026smallI missed having a new episode of Chicago PD on last week because of the debate. On the episode a couple of weeks ago, people were shot and driven into with a car outside the concert of a young (teenage) rapper – including the rapper himself – and it was thought to be gang-related. It was, but not in the way they first thought. Turned out one gang was trying to turn two other gangs against each other, and it looked like it was working. They started attacking each other, until Voight took the leaders from both out to one of his spots and explained that neither were behind the original attack and to let this one go. That was a fun scene! Meanwhile, while trying to talk to some of the people on the “watch list” (a list of who they thought was most likely to be the next victim), Burgess saw Atwater’s younger brother at the house of one of the “watch list” kids. She cornered him, took him home, and stayed until Atwater got home. I don’t know if Atwater should have come down harder on the kid or not. It seemed like he kind of just brushed it under the rug. Huh…

On tonight’s episode, “A War Zone,” Intelligence is tasked with tracking down the dealers of fentanyl – a drug that has been linked to multiple overdoses around the city. As they investigate possible sources, the team uncovers a series of dealers in a college smuggling ring. Meanwhile, Tay and Burgess come across a bloodied child who exposes a dark and twisted secret about his home life with his parents. Additionally, Mouse causes tension as he looks to reenlist in the army, and Platt tells Tay that she has been reassigned to her original post.

See if they can find the dealers and why Tay has to go tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Blindspot, The Goldbergs, Speechless, Criminal Minds, Frequency, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Worst Cooks in America, black-ish, & That Awkward Game Show.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/21/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

modernfamily1021smallI am a huge fan of ABC’s Wednesday comedy block, and one of my favorites is still Modern Family. Last week, Cameron was having a bit of a midlife crisis, trying to be “bros” with the frat guys renting the apartment upstairs. Mitch was getting annoyed with his “bromosexual” husband and hatched a plan with Luke to end it. Meanwhile, Phil was obsessed with his duck eggs, building them an insanely detailed habitat while waiting for them to hatch; Claire was failing miserably at coming up with new closet ideas; and Manny was having troubling asking out a barista, until he saw his always-confident mother get tongue-tied in front of her favorite telenovela star, which gave him the push he needed,

This series continues to feel fresh and fun in its seventh season. The writers do a great job of mixing things up each week so that you get entertaining stories involving different pairings of the members of this extended family. The writing is always witty, and the stories always seem to converge in some unexpected but endearing way in the end.

On tonight’s episode, “The Verdict,” Gloria’s picked for jury duty and can’t wait to practice her U.S. citizenship, but Jay isn’t too happy to be helping out at Joe’s preschool by himself. Meanwhile, Claire’s plans for “Bring Your Daughter to Work Day” hit a snag; Phil participates in community service with Luke and Manny’s class; and Mitchell and Cameron can’t agree on a guest list for their party.

Don’t miss Gloria on jury duty tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Survivor, Criminal Minds, Code Black, The Middle, The Goldbergs, black-ish, Empire, Arrow, Supernatural, American Horror Story: Hotel, The League, You’re the Worst, Worst Cooks in America, and Moonbeam City.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/19/14

Brrr, it’s cold! We finally had to turn on the heater yesterday, and oh my word, it smelled awful! That eventually went away, of course, but it’s just another reason I dislike having to run the heater during the winter. It does mean that I’m not an icicle while I watch TV, and I do appreciate that! Check out what I’ll be watching and what we’re recommending tonight.

modernfamily1119smallWe’ve seen some great holidays on Modern Family (remember the punkin’ chunkin’?), and tonight’s Thanksgiving-themed episode looks like it’ll be a lot of fun, which is why it’s my pick tonight. Last week was great for several reasons. I loved Haley fooling Claire about sleeping with Andy, although I’m kinda sad to find out they’re just friends, that he’s trying to buy a ring for his girlfriend. I kinda love them together. But also, her scene in the car at the end was priceless and had me in stitches.

On tonight’s episode, “Three Turkeys,” Phil and Luke take on cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but Claire secretly makes another turkey just-in-case; after Jay and Gloria’s holiday trip gets canceled, they decide not to tell anyone about it; Mitchell makes Cam deal with Lily’s attitude.

Check out the big family Thanksgiving tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, The Mysteries of Laura, The Goldbergs, Criminal Minds, black-ish, Chicago PD, Law & Order: SVU, Hot in Cleveland, Kitchen Inferno, Top Chef, & The Exes.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/23/14

I’m a nervous mama… My kiddo is taking his written test tonight to get his driver’s permit. Such a scary thing! Everyone cross your fingers! He’s been doing very well on the practice tests online, so… Whether we’ll be watching to celebrate or console tonight, there’s plenty on, and Kyle & I are here to give our recommendations. 🙂

modernfamily423smallMy pick tonight is the new episode of Modern Family. It’s been three weeks since the last one, and it was pretty funny. I wasn’t really fond of Cam when he sent his dad the same photo to use to make a new cake topper, because it really upset Mitch. But Mitch trying to get rid of it was a lot of fun. The story line with Phil & Gloria helping out in her old hairdresser job was funny. Phil is a riot. I didn’t like the Claire/Jay story line, although I did like the food fight.

On tonight’s episode, “Australia,” the entire family tags along as Phil fulfills his mom’s wish for him to return to his roots and visit the country where he was conceived, Australia. Unfortunately, Phil’s attempts to embrace his native land are met by a lot of rejection, while Jay and Claire let work eat into vacation time, and Mitch and Cam get reacquainted with an old friend (guest star Rhys Darby) they can’t stand but is now a big-time celebrity in Australia.

See how the family handles the vacation tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Mixology, Hot in Cleveland, & The Soul Man.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/2/14

Happy Hump Day! We’re halfway through the week and we got through April Fools’ Day okay, so I say we’re coming out ahead of the game. There’s also some great TV on tonight, so check out our recommendations.

csi42smallThe last new episode of CSI was great. The CSIs were called in when an entire family was reported to have been missing for a month. All the furniture was gone, there was a homeless ex-con staying in the house, and once they started looking, they found blood everywhere in the living room. They got the furniture back from where the homeless man sold it to a Goodwill-type store. It was covered in blood splatter. In the end, the daughter, son, and mother were killers—the mother killed the woman the father was having an affair with, the son then killed the father, and once the daughter, son, and mother skipped town, the daughter killed her brother & mother. She was more than a little sociopathic or psychotic or something. Crazy.

On tonight’s episode, “The Fallen,” Russell is taken hostage after a teenager opens fire in a police station.

See if Russell makes it out alive tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Mixology, Hot in Cleveland, Chicago PD, & The Soul Man.
