If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/6/11

It’s Wednesday, and I’m excited, because I have a conference call with the three stars from Syfy’s Warehouse 13 about the upcoming season. Plus, there are some great new episodes tonight so that’s just one more reason to be happy it’s Wednesday! Let’s see what we all think you should watch tonight…

Jenny’s Choice #1

One of the reasons I’m looking forward so much to TV tonight is the new episode of Royal Pains. I was thrilled with the premiere last week, although not with some of the events that happened. Jill showed up, only to tell Hank she was leaving again (for good?) and then have sex before going. Will she be back? I hope so…It won’t really be the same without her. Something is up with Paige, although we don’t know what yet. And Divya finally had it out with her parents when they tried to set up her again with another arranged marriage. For now, she’s staying with Hank and Evan in Boris’ estate. Oh, yeah, and Boris apologized to Hank and invited them to live in his guest house again. Hank was great in standing up for himself, and told Boris they would pay rent now, etc. Overall, it was a great premiere, so I’m excited to see what happens this week.

Tonight, Hank is forced to treat an old rival after the man is injured while playing with Hank in a charity football tournament. Divya attemps to help a gardener work through the side effects of his medication while she deals with her own past.

See the new episode tonight on USA at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Royal Pains @ Clicker.

Interview with Callie Thorne from Necessary Roughness

Callie Thorne, star of the new USA show, Necessary Roughness, recently spoke to the press about her new role. Some of the great questions & answers are below!

The show focuses on a tough, sexy Long Island divorcee (Thorne, Rescue Me, Californication) who gets a job as therapist for a professional football team in order to make ends meet. Underestimated at every turn, she succeeds beyond all expectations and soon finds herself as the sought-after therapist to high-profile clients. Athletes, musicians, politicians and others living in the spotlight – all in a moment of crisis – clamor for her unique brand of tough love therapy. As a newly single mom raising two teenagers, her start-up practice wreaks havoc on her life. But recognizing that she’s changing people’s lives for the better, she is determined to make her new career work by striking a balance between her personal and professional worlds. The show also stars Marc Blucas (Buffy, The Vampire Slayer), Mehcad Brooks (True Blood) and Scott Cohen (Gilmore Girls, NYPD Blue).

On what made her want to do the show

I think initially really the fact that it was a true story and that it was based on a real woman, a real extraordinary woman is you know why I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the script and read it in the first place.

Because to me that automatically means that a story’s going to be that much more rich and that much more layered in terms of the – you know if Dr. Donna is there especially in the writing room it just means that everything’s going to be that much more true, that much more grounded.

And I was right, I read the script, I flew through it and it felt so honest and based out of a real kind of truth then even when I got to meet her, once I landed the role and I got to meet her it all sort of fell into place so perfectly.

Because there’s a spirit about her that fills up the entire page which then makes it that much easier to go ahead and get in front of the camera and try to sort of tell her story.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/29/11

I can’t believe that San Diego Comic-Con preview night is just 3 weeks from today! I have already started making my list of TV panels that I want to try to see while I’m there (as well as the unfortunate list of conflicting ones I won’t be able to attend). Last year was the first year I attended, and I loved being able to see the cast and crew of many of my favorite shows up close, live on stage. This year, my twin brother will also be flying out with me (his first Comic-Con), so it should be a lot of fun. I’m also looking forward to meeting/seeing a lot of the other TV fans I’ve only met online. -Kyle

Kyle’s Choice

It wouldn’t be summer without Hank Med and Royal Pains! When we last left the Hank Med gang, Evan was heading off on “his dream vacation from his dream job with his dream girl,” Divya decided to call off her wedding after being quarantined for Pneumonic Plague, Jill decided to leave the Hamptons, and Eddie Lawson was in jail. This is a nice starting point for the third season. Will Evan and Divya finally get together? Will Hank move on, now that Jill is gone? Will Eddie return, a reformed man? I hope we get the answers to all of these questions, along with more interesting afflictions-of-the-week cases in this new season.

In tonight’s episode, “Traffic,” while treating individuals who were injured by a toppled vehicle, Hank begins to believe that one woman is afflicted with a serious underlying medical condition. Divya is forced to deal with the results from her decision not to get married. Natalie Zea (Justified) guest stars.
