I’m always amazed at how much is on TV these days, and there’s no sign that things are slowing down anytime soon. Between Amazon and Netflix, entire seasons of four different shows are dropping today alone! I’m really looking forward to checking out Netflix’s new reality series, White Rabbit Project. “MythBusters” Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara have been reunited to investigate weird and wild events from history and pop culture in their fun, creative way. Some of the topics include jailbreaks, superpower technology, heists, and unconventional world war two weapons. The trio will devise experiments and build crazy contraptions, all in the name of uncovering the truth. The final season of MythBusters just didn’t feel the same without Kari, Tory, and Grant, so I’m thrilled to see that Netflix got the gang back together for more crazy, scientific fun!

Check out the fun investigations now on Netflix!

I’ll also be watching/recording Fuller House, Medici: Masters of Florence, MacGyver, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, LEGO Frozen Northern Lights, and Z Nation.

pacificheatsmallToday, Netflix drops the 13-episode first season of Pacific Heat, an animated action/comedy that follows a squad of dimwitted police offers as they go on various undercover missions in the glitzy Gold Coast of Australia. Heading up the team is Special Agent Todd Sommerville, who is constantly throwing out the Horatio Caine-style puns and is more concerned about messing up his hair than wearing the proper protective gear. With her blonde hair and willingness to strip down for the mission, Special Agent Maddie Riggs may not appear to be the smartest of the group, but she is constantly surprising the rest of her team with moments of sheer brilliance. The rest of the team includes simpleminded Special Agent Veronica “V.J.” Delane and meathead Agent Zac Valentic, who is also a former military colleague of Todd’s. And rounding out the main characters are the Chief, who is constantly sending the squad out on unsanctioned missions but then gets frustrated by their rogue practices. At the same time, he also has to deal with his empty-headed assistant and the team’s savvy young female tech.

I got a chance to watch the first and third episodes of the season, and I really enjoyed what I saw. This show is a lot of fun! The animation style and premise will remind many viewers of FX’s Archer. This series has a very similar look and feel, following a team of not-so-bright agents as they go out on dangerous missions and also deal with coworkers and office politics. The series also has a similar mix of irreverent humor, wordplay, sarcasm, and sight gags, and well as these really fun flashbacks that reveal crazy backstories and incidents in the characters’ pasts. The show even breaks the fourth wall at one point in the third episode. I think Archer fans will really enjoy this series, and it’s also well worth checking out for anyone looking for a fun cop show spoof.

Stream all 13 episodes now on Netflix!

I’ll also be watching/recording Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Z Nation, and Van Helsing.

Special CorrespondentsLate last night/early this morning, Netflix released its latest original film, Special Correspondents. The comedy, which was written and directed by Ricky Gervais (Derek, The Office), centers around struggling radio journalist Frank Bonneville (Eric Bana, Lone Survivor, Hulk) and his chief sound engineer Ian Finch (Gervais). Desperate for ratings, the pair hatches a plan to broadcast fake war reports “live from the front line in Ecuador,” but from the comfort of their own New York studio. However, they go too far when they fake their own kidnapping, which sends the US military on a search-and-rescue mission, as the entire country watches on with baited breath. Now the two men must sneak into Ecuador and make their situation look believable, in order to prevent being arrested for fraud. The film also stars Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), America Ferrera (Superstore), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Benjamin Bratt (24: Live Another Day), and Kevin Pollak (Angel from Hell).

I’m a big Ricky Gervais fan, and based on the trailer, this film looks like it could be a lot of fun – the premise kind of reminds me of Wag the Dog. Plus the cast is loaded with people whose work I really enjoy. I look forward to checking this out tonight!

Watch this movie anytime on Netflix.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Grimm, and Banshee.

manvschildsmallIt’s a food-competition-show type of night for me. So my first pick is the season premiere of Man vs Child: Chef Showdown on FYI. I loved this show last season. A team of child cooking prodigies compete in different challenges against an executive-level chef in the kitchen. The kids, ages 8-15 (maybe 9-16 now?), are absolutely incredible. And the challenges are fun and different. So combined that with the fact that kids are competing against professional chefs, and this is a great show to chill out to.

On tonight’s episode, “Fish Out of Water,” the prodigies will have to sink or swim when they face off against Drew Tsang, an executive chef who takes them to task in three rounds that revolve around seafood.

See if the kids can defeat Chef Tsang tonight on FYI at 8/7c.

fullerhousesmallI’m so excited because late tonight/early tomorrow morning, Netflix is putting out the entire first season of Fuller House, the continuation of the hit show that began in 1987, Full House. The original focused on Danny Tanner, a widow raising his three daughters with the help of his brother-in-law Jesse and best friend Joey. By the series end, Jesse was married to Rebecca and they had twin boys. The new series focuses on widow – oldest Tanner daughter – DJ, who moves back into the family home with her three boys after her firefighter husband dies. Middle Tanner daughter Stephanie and DJ’s best friend Kimmie move in with her, along with Kimmie’s daughter, to help DJ raise her boys. Other family members will guest star throughout the series, but the show will focus on DJ, Kimmie, Stephanie, and the kids.

Full House was a simple, feel-good, family show that I still love well into adulthood. So even though critics are already saying some not-so-nice things about it, I’m looking forward to it simply because I loved the original so much and am excited to see where all the characters are now, some twenty years later. If you go in expecting perfection, you’ll be disappointed. Hopefully you can go into it like I am and expect some silly, heartwarming, cheesy fun.

Don’t miss the complete first season premiere tonight on Netflix at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory (200th episode!), Top Chef, 2 Broke Girls, Beat Bobby Flay, Colony, & Recipe for Deception.
