If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/19/14

What a crazy night last night was for TV. MasterChef was intense. If you didn’t watch, you’re missing out! As for tonight, there’s some great stuff on, so check out our recommendations!

rizzoli&isles819smallLast week on Rizzoli & Isles, I thought for sure Jane was going to become a foster mom to the homeless teenage girl from the previous episode, but I wasn’t shocked or even really unhappy when she set up the nurse to foster her instead. It was a great fit. You could see the happiness and relief on the girl’s face when the nurse started to “mom” her. Jane, meanwhile, didn’t know what to think or how to feel about losing her baby. She was obviously sad, but it seemed like she was in shock and kind of numb more than anything. I did love seeing all the love everyone gave her when they came to visit in the hospital. On the case side of things, it was very sad and very interesting…the mummified corpse of a woman who was so secluded and so distanced from everyone around her that (almost) no one knew she wasn’t still alive. So sad. 🙁

On tonight’s episode, “Phoenix Rising,” Korsak is involved in the investigation of an exceedingly cold case, so the team steps in to try to provide him some assistance. Jane decides to take some unorthodox means in order to stay involved with daily occurrences at the office.

See how Jane keeps in touch tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Fighters, America’s Got Talent, Next Great Baker, Royal Pains, Chopped, Restaurant Startup, Sullivan & Son, & Wizard Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/22/14

I’m sitting here Monday night writing this up to post Tuesday morning, and I’m sweltering. I swear it feels like a hundred degrees in here! Bleh. Unfortunately, while it only (only. LOL) got up to 94 today, tomorrow we’re supposed to break 100 for the first time (I think?) this summer. So…Double bleh! On a good note, Tuesdays are one of my favorite days of the week this summer for TV, so I’m thrilled about that. 😉 Check out what we’re recommending!

Jenny’s Choice

foodfighterssmallMy pick tonight is the new series Food Fighters on NBC. Adam Richman (Man Vs. Food) hosts this show in which an amateur home cook will face off with five professional chefs. The home cooks will have five of their best signature dishes, and for each professional chef that comes out, the home cook will choose which of their dishes they and the chef must cook. The completed dishes will be judged in a blind taste test, and the verdict will determine the winner of that round. The home cook wins money for every round, and in the fifth and final round, they money they can win is double whatever they’ve won so far in the previous four rounds. The professional chefs include Cat Cora, Lorena Garcia, G. Garvin, Duff Goldman, Elizabeth Faulkner, Jet Tila, & more.

I’ve seen tonight’s premiere, and I gotta say that it’s a heck of a lot of fun. It’s great trying to watch the home cook figure out which dish the professional chef is most likely to know the least about, although they don’t know who’s coming up in the later rounds, so it can be a bit dicey. It’s a fun twist on a cooking competition show, and I can’t wait to see more.

On tonight’s episode, “Elisha Joyce,” a married mother of three tries to win up to $100,000 as she faces off one by one against five culinary pros, including acclaimed celebrity chef Lorena Garcia.

Find out how much, if any, money the home cook takes home tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Buddy’s Bakery Rescue, America’s Got Talent, Next Great Baker, Rizzoli & Isles, Royal Pains, Chopped, Restaurant Startup, & Sullivan & Son.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/24/14

Is anyone else keeping up with the World Cup? The US tied with Portugal on Sunday, 2-2. It was an exciting game that kept fans on the edge of their seats, apparently. We don’t play again until Thursday, against Germany. I have to admit that I’m not keeping up with it, but good luck to the US team! As to something we’re all interested in… Tonight’s TV, of which there’s plenty. 🙂 So check out our recommendations to help you maybe narrow it down a little. 😉

rizzoliisles624smallLast week’s premiere of Rizzoli & Isles was darn near perfect, even on my second watch. The case was interesting and suspenseful… A woman was murdered, and at first, it seemed like a run-of-the-mill murder case, until they discovered an empty stroller nearby and knew they were now searching for a missing, possibly dead, baby. In the end, the baby’s father and his girlfriend had set it up, and instead of being found by the people of the church where the girlfriend had left him, the little baby had been found by a homeless woman who was determined to take care of him to the best of her abilities. The baby was given to his aunt — his mother’s sister — and her husband, so we knew he’d grow up in a loving home. But to know that your father and his girlfriend murdered your mother? That’ll be hard on the kid when he gets older. Of course, the most emotional part of the episode was at the end, when they learned that Frost had been killed in a car accident on the way back from his mother’s house. When they all went to the accident scene and Jane broke down, my son turned to me and solemnly said, “You know, I’m sure some of that is real emotion because of the actor.” Very insightful for a 16yo…

Tonight is the continuation of that story, with the team dealing with Frost’s death. I’ve seen the episode, and that is pretty much what I remember from it. The case is interesting, but truly, the emotions from Jane especially are what takes the cake. If Angie Harmon ever deserved an Emmy nod, this episode would be it.

On tonight’s episode, “Goodbye,” a woman walks into the station covered in blood, carrying a gun, and saying she killed someone. Unfortunately, the trauma of what she did caused her to forget who she is or who the victim is. The team tries to unravel this bizarre case as they deal with the loss of close friend and colleague, Det. Barry Frost.

See how they deal with the loss and if they can close the case tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Next Great Baker, Chopped, & Sullivan & Son.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/30/12

It’s the start of a new work week for most people. But it also means some great new television, so that kind of balances the bad with the good. 😉 On a fantastic note…my husband got called early last week about an interview mid-week. He went to the interview at 9:00 and was there for just over an hour. At 1:30 that afternoon, they called and offered him the job. He starts on the 9th of February, and it’s just over double what he is making now, which is fantastic! After my job got downsized, we weren’t sure what was going to happen—moving in with his parents or my mom, losing our cable, and giving up at least 2 of our 3 cats were brought up—but now, it means we can stay where we are and any income I can bring in will just be that much better. Thank you to all the thoughts & prayers we’ve received over the last month and a half! Now, let’s see what’s on tonight!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Man, I am loving Lost Girl. We’ve only had two episodes, but it’s seriously making me want more and more and more of it! I love Bo and Kenzi (who is freakin hilarious), and damn, Dyson is sexy. lol How hot was the sex scene at the end of last week’s episode? The heat rolling off the two of them was crazy good. The rest of the episode was great, as well. The Will o’ Wisp and his son were kind of sad, because the son didn’t think his dad wanted him, but the fae didn’t even realize he had a son. It all seemed to work out in the end, although what Will and Connell were going to do, I don’t know. I think I’ll just pretend that everything was perfect in their world. 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Sorority,” Bo and Kenzi open a private investigation office. Their first job is to find a missing student at a local college. Kenzi goes undercover in the college, while Bo joins campus security to uncover what happened. Bo and Dyson’s relationship goes on the rocks, and another species of Fae is revealed.

Don’t miss it tonight on Syfy at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Lost Girl @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/9/12

Usually, I hate Mondays, because as a rule, they suck. However, today is a great day, because it’s also the first day for my daughter to go back to school after Christmas break, and as much as I adore her, I’m ready for our regular schedule again. The other fabulous part of today is the new television you can sit back and enjoy watching tonight. Let’s take a look.

Megan’s Choice

Next Great Baker has really been heating up. This season is already way more fiery than last season, and these contestants all have such big personalities. I really enjoy Ryan, but his attitude is a bit abrasive. Megan was one of my favorites, but her panic mode while on a project annoys me, so I’m hoping she goes home soon. Another thing I love about this show is how Buddy interacts with the contestants. He’s always so amusing.

On tonight’s all new episode, “Here Comes the Bride-zilla!” the bakers team up to work on a wedding cake for a demanding bride-to-be.

To see who starts to melt under the pressure, tune in to TLC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Next Great Baker @ Clicker.
