If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/19/13

We’re less than a week away from Christmas—and my birthday is tomorrow—so I’m getting more and more excited every day. We’re doing Christmas tomorrow night with my kiddo since he leaves for two weeks on Saturday morning, so that’s good. But even with the upcoming holiday, there are still a few things on worth recommending, so check out our thoughts! 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

groundfloorsmallI’m really loving Ground Floor. I love the characters—I still say John C. McGinley is my favorite, although I like them all. Last week, the firm went to a baseball game, but Brody had already promised to go to the game with Jenny—who was rooting for the other team. He screwed up when he sneaked away to go join his firm and root for his team, but Jenny found out he hadn’t actually gone to the bathroom when a ball flew up into the box and Brody caught it…getting his face on the big screen. To make it up to her—after Mansfield gave him a talking to and then pulled some strings—he went out onto the field to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” and he publically supported Jenny’s team, not his own. It was really cute.

On tonight’s episode, “If I Were a Rich Man,” tired of watching Harvard, Derrick and Tori blow their money on lottery tickets, Jenny convinces them to invest with Brody. One white lie later, they’re all convinced they’re rich and would be millionaires and Harvard decides to give Mansfield a piece of his mind. Meanwhile Brody and Threepeat have to give bad news to some of the firm’s temperamental clients, including a fiery John McEnroe.

Laugh along with me tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Panic Button.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/26/13

Wow, this has been a busy week for new TV—and there are eight more new and returning shows premiering tonight! This week, I’ve had the advantage of having seen screeners for most of the new series, but starting next week, I have no idea how I’m going to keep up with everything! We’ve got some suggestions to help you decide on what to check out tonight.

Kyle’s Choice #1

elementary926smallTonight, Elementary heads across the pond for the premiere of the show’s second season. I really enjoyed the first season—I was a little skeptical at first, with Sherlock already on airing on PBS, but I was immediately won over. Jonny Lee Miller makes a perfect Sherlock Holmes, and I really enjoy the dynamic Lucy Liu brings as a female Watson. The cases are always interesting, the chemistry between the leads is great, and I always enjoy watching them use their powers of deduction to solve the mystery. I’m looking forward to meeting more of the classic Sherlock characters in tonight’s season premiere.

On tonight’s episode, “Step Nine,” Holmes and Watson travel to London to help a former mentor investigate an unsolved mystery. Meanwhile, Sherlock’s estranged brother, Mycroft, reunites with him and reveals some secrets of his own. Rhys Ifans guest stars.

See Sherlock on his home turf tonight on CBS at 10:01/9:01c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/9/12

Have you ever been so tired that you seem to be moving through water? Like you keep making all these little mistakes. Nothing major or anything. Just…not firing on all cylinders? Yeah. That’s me on Wednesday night. Why, I dunno. I got 7 or so hours of sleep Tuesday night. Granted, it was broken up into several parts, but still. I dunno. I’m just kind of floating as I write this, so I hope it’s coherent! Now, if you can stay awake long enough to watch TV, see what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

Last week’s episode with Sam and Jesse helping out Sam’s girlfriend was great. They got to the “kid’s” house, only to find that things were a lot more complicated than they’d thought, and they had to take down drug dealers hell bent on killing them. I love how well Sam and Jesse work together. 🙂 Michael and Fiona continued to reconnect as they figured out that Rebecca was their prime suspect for Nate’s murder. While trying to capture her, she escaped, and Michael shot her. She surrendered to him, but swore she had nothing to do with Nate’s or Anson’s deaths. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here. Of course, Nate’s funeral scene was heartbreaking. I’m glad Maddie doesn’t seem to be holding it over Michael’s head—at least for now…

On tonight’s episode, “Unchained,” Michael allows himself to be arrested by the FBI in order to bring down a vicious Bostonian mobster. Meanwhile, Jesse and Pearce are forced to blackmail a weapons manufacturer to get information on an important gun sale… but things don’t go as smoothly as planned. Lauren Stamile, Brian White, Billy Smith, and RD Callstar guest star.

Don’t miss it tonight on USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Burn Notice @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing the 2012 Olympics, Rookie Blue, & Sullivan & Son.
