If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/18/14

Argh. As much as I’m enjoying watching ice skating (because let’s face it, that’s ALL I’m watching of the Olympics…), I want my shows back, darnit! It was great having Castle and Intelligence on last night, but I really wish NCIS and NCIS: LA were new tonight. That being said, there’s some good stuff on, so check out our recommendations.

cougartown218smallLast week, Cougar Town was all about the cul-de-sac garage sale, Jules and bad karma because she lied to customers during said garage sale, Andy being a garage sale hoarder and betting Ellie she couldn’t refrain from being snarky so he could collect a bunch more stuff, and Travis and Bobby overcoming their fear of roller coasters. There were a lot of great, funny scenes, but two of my favorites had to be Jules being too dang honest with the potential home buyers and then the car crashing into her office, and then at the end, when the whole gang showed up to support Bobby & Travis and then they ended up opening the urn during the ride and getting ashes all over everyone behind them. And of course, we lost Big Tippi, the wine “glass” Jules got while in L.A. We were introduced to Big Chuck, which is just an even bigger flower vase and even more ridiculous. Lots of laughs every week for this show!

On tonight’s episode, “Time to Move On,” with Travis graduating college in a few months, Jules starts to worry about his job prospects with an art degree. Laurie and Ellie pose as a couple in a desperate effort to get Stan into a fancy new school. Meanwhile, Andy insists on making a cat video with the guys for Bro-day.

See if Laurie and Ellie can pull off couple-dom tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Killer Women.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/11/14

It’s still really cold here, but at least we haven’t gotten any more snow! I’m already missing some of my favorite shows this week, although there are enough on to keep me busy! *laugh* Check out our recommendations below. 🙂

killerwomen211smallI’m so mad that Killer Women isn’t getting more episodes than it is. I adore the chemistry between Trisha Helfer’s Molly and Marc Blucas’s Dan. Last episode, it looked like they were breaking up, when he told her it would be easier if she just went to the court-ordered counseling and faked her way through it, and she told him that he wasn’t a long-running relationship kind of guy. But in the end, he sent her a picture of new running shoes, confirming that he was all in, and…after he was “shot” (ie: grazed by a bullet and then concussed by stuff falling on his head), they ended up together-together. In the case, the killer was loco… She murdered women who reminded her of her mother. She ended up kidnapping and almost killing Molly’s sister-in-law, Becca, but Molly rescued her just in time.

On tonight’s episode, “In and Out,” Molly is on the case when a famous basketball star is murdered in his home. Meanwhile, Becca plans a date night to let Billy in on some life-changing news, and Dan receives a credible tip leading to an arrest of an unlikely suspect.

Find out what life-changing news Becca gives Billy tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Chopped, & Cougar Town.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/21/14

Brrr! I know Megan got cold again, and the wind is blowing really hard as I write this up, so I know the temp is dropping. So stay out of the cold and snuggle in to watch some great TV tonight! Here’s what we’re recommending.

Jenny’s Choice

thegoldbergs121smallThere’s so much on TV on Tuesdays that I don’t have a chance to recommend everything I want, but this week, out of everything, I narrowed it down to one: The Goldbergs. I absolutely adore this show, and I have since the beginning. There are so many great references to the 1980s, when I was growing up (I was born in 1976, tyvm), so most of it just brings back so many memories—both good and bad. *laugh* Last week gave us classic Beverly “smother” moments, but my favorite part would HAVE to be the end, with Murray and Adam. It was enough to make me tear up, honestly. And then, of course, Adam finding out he hadn’t returned his video? Hilarious. This show is one of the funniest on my schedule, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

On tonight’s episode, “You Opened the Door,” when Adam and Dana decide to attend their first school dance together, Beverly makes a huge deal out of it and decides she has to help chaperone the event. To prepare for the big night, Adam goes to his mother for advice, but soon regrets his decision. Likewise, Dana’s mom has plans to attend the dance. The mothers’ behavior surprises everyone. Do Adam and Dana stand a chance to have a good time? Meanwhile, Murray talks with Barry about the “birds and the bees,” which goes awry.

See if you learn anything new about the birds and the bees tonight on ABC at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Brooklyn Nine-NIne, Trophy Wife, Chopped, Chicago Fire, Cougar Town, & Killer Women.
