If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/19/12

It’s the beginning of another week, and during February sweeps, that can only mean one thing – fantastic TV! There is a lot of new television on tonight, and what better gift to give yourself than new, fantastic TV to start of the week. Let’s see what you should be watching.

Megan’s Choice

On television these days, we have vampires, werewolves, and witches, which all deliver excellent drama – but lately, it’s the zombies that have gotten my vote. The Walking Dead never fails to deliver spin tingling thrills. I give the amazing writers props for writing such intense and deep characters that continue to grow week to week, helping us to stay absolutely invested. Last week, this cleverly creepy show returned with an episode that made us ask – “Is there room at the farm for you?” The consequence of Shane and the others killing the zombies that Hershel had in the barn – including Sofia – was complete and utter chaos. In my opinion, Hershel and the other original farm family are all off their rocker. I get that it’s technically their loved ones in there, but it’s not actually, and those zombies want to eat the living, so why keep a barn full of them so close to the remaining members of the family? Rick is forced to shoot living people when they threaten the farm, and Hershel backs him – looks like the beginning of a lucrative friendship again.

On tonight’s episode, “Triggerfinger,” trapped, Rick, Hershel, and Glenn fight to survive against new foes, both dead and alive. Shane finds Lori in danger on the road and makes it his mission to bring her back to the farm.

To see if Shane can save Lori, tune in to AMC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Walking Dead @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching Once Upon a Time, CSI: Miami, The Good Wife, and Iron Chef America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/12/12

It’s the start of a new week, which is both good and bad. Good, because it means lots of great new TV, but bad, cause it means it’ll soon be time to go back to work. It’s not time yet, though. We still have the rest of today to relax, and there’s plenty on tonight to help us do just that, so check out what we think you should be watching tonight.

I’m so excited for tonight’s Worst Cooks in America. I loved both seasons before this, with Anne Burrell going up first against Bo MacMillan and then against Robert Irvine. I love Anne, and I was rooting for her in seasons 1 & 2, but I like Bobby Flay, too, so this season, I think I will just have to watch and see who I like best out of the contestants before I declare my favorite…although I have to say, I’m tempted to declare myself Team Bobby, just to mess with Kyle. 😉

If you haven’t seen this show before, it pits Anne against Bobby, each leading a team of eight “recruits” in a grueling eight-week boot camp designed to transform these culinary disaster-makers into competent cooks. A $25,000 grand prize will be awarded to the winning contestant who achieves the most progress and best performance, in addition to bragging rights and victory for their culinary mentor. It’s a lot of fun seeing almost all of the contestants go from horrendous to at least passable, with some even excelling in the kitchen!

On tonight’s episode, “Best of the Worst,” the 16 contestants display their signature dishes to Anne and Bobby in the hopes of making an impression. The Chefs instruct the new candidates on how to effectively prepare a delicious breakfast meal.

Figure out who you are rooting for tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Worst Cooks in America @ Clicker.

There’s not much else on for me tonight, but I will also be watching Cupcake Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/15/12

It’s the start of a new week, but for a lot of people, it’s a bit of a short week, since kids are off from school on Monday & some people will be off for work because of Martin Luther King Day. It’s going to be an extra short week for my kiddo, as he has Monday off, then Tuesday his school is off for some school improvement day, and then Thursday is a late start day, so he goes in 2 hours later than normal. *shrug* Anyway, whether you have days off this week or not, settle in to watch some great TV tonight, including what we think you should watch below! But first, I want to mention a few items of interest. Tonight is The 69th Annual Golden Globes on NBC, the season finale of Hell on Wheels on AMC, season premiere of Undercover Boss on CBS, and series premiere of Napoleon Dynamite on FOX, so if those interest you, don’t miss em! (By the way, Kyle is on vacation, so JJ is filling in for him. Everyone say hi!)

My first pick for what I think you should watch tonight is the season finale of Leverage. It’s been a great season. Hardison and Parker have come a long way, and we had some great stuff between Hardison and Eliot. As always, Nate and Sophie have had their ups and downs. You have to love it, though… They wouldn’t be them if they didn’t! Last week, Tom Skerritt was back as Nate’s father, and when he found himself in front of explosives, he kept Nate safe as the building exploding, killing him. We also found out that the man behind all the suckage is none other than Victor Dubenich, played by Saul Rubinek (Warehouse 13), who was the first bad guy on the show back in season 1! That was a twist I didn’t see coming! Will they take him down? Hopefully, we’ll find out tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “The Last Dam Job,” the Leverage team must recruit old friends and rivals in order to take down Latimer and a foe from their past. That would be a great episode title for the series finale, but luckily, it’s already been renewed for another season!

See it tonight on TNT at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Leverage @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/8/12

It’s the start of a new week…and I am starting it with a broken laptop. My down arrow key popped off last night, and we can’t get it back on. My husband is going to take another look tomorrow when he’s more awake, but…I’m going to be REALLY pissed off if I have to send it in and get it replaced, cause we just don’t have the money for that. BAH! Still, some great stuff on tonight, so at least there’s that!

I’m a huge fan of John Grisham’s books, and one of my favorite movies is The Firm. So when I heard it was coming to television, I was thrilled. It’s not a remake of the book/movie, which is kind of what makes it even more interesting. The show continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere and his family 10 years after the events of the film and novel. As a young associate, McDeere brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert, & Locke, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob – and his life was never the same. After a difficult decade, which included a stay in the Federal Witness Protection program, Mitch (Josh Lucas, J. Edgar), his wife Abby (Molly Parker, Deadwood), and daughter Claire (Natasha Calis, The Possession) now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future – only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere. The show also stars Callum Keith Rennie (The Killing), Juliette Lewis (Cape Fear), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), & Shaun Majumder (Detroit 1-8-7).

Check out the 2-hour series premiere tonight on NBC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Firm @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote – 12/4/11

The holidays are upon us, so I’m getting excited about all the holiday episodes that will be coming our way. Although I’m also a little sad, because during the holidays, we are going to be low on new television. 🙁 *deep breath* Before I have a panic attack about the coming lack of television, let’s enjoy the new TV that is on tonight. Check out what you should be watching.

I love fairytales, and television, so the combination of both is delicious to me. Once Upon a Time is an amazing show that constantly pulls at your heart strings while entertaining your inner child with stories of our youth, spun into a TV show. Last week, we saw Emma and Archie save Henry from a sinkhole, and that made Regina very unhappy. We got to see how Jiminy Cricket came to be who he is. I loved every minute of this episode and am looking forward to tonight’s new episode.

On tonight’s episode, “The Shepherd,” David must choose between staying with Kathryn or leaving her to be with Mary Margaret, with whom he’s fallen deeply, and inexplicably, in love.

To see if true love will prevail, tune in to ABC at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Once Upon a Time @ Clicker.
