Wow. What a week it was last week. The networks all did their whole renewal/cancellation bit, and while it didn’t seem (to me, anyway) as brutal as it has in the past, there was still some favorites that got the cut. Kyle & I are both very disappointed about Trophy Wife, The Neighbors, The Michael J. Fox Show, & Surviving Jack. I’ll also really, really miss Almost Human, Friends with Better Lives, & Intelligence, while Kyle is also upset about The Crazy Ones. What of your favorites got the ax? To console ourselves, we’re going to immerse ourselves in the bajillion finales this week (okay, 3 series & 32 season finales, but who’s counting? 😉 ), as well as other great new episodes. Here’s what we’re recommending tonight. (Oh, and to all the mothers, grandmothers, stepmoms, and mommy substitutes, as well as dads who are both father and mother, we hope you have a very happy Mother’s Day!)
Jenny’s Choice
Guy Fieri is back tonight for a new season Guy’s Grocery Games. I love this show. Guy is a great host. He interacts well with the contestants and judges, he’s at ease with the cameras, and he’s just really fun to watch. If you haven’t seen this show, it’s basically a cooking competition set in a grocery store. There are three rounds, with a contestant sent home after each round. They have to go through all sorts of crazy challenges—only able to shop on one aisle of the grocery store, only have a limited amount of time to shop, and only able to use what they’re able to carry without a shopping cart when they shop… Those are just a few of the games we’ll see throughout the season.
On tonight’s episode, “Moms Know Best,” it’s the mother of all shows, when four devoted moms and talented chefs battle in a game where they can only cook with ingredients that start with the same letter. In the second game, the moms must make brunch for four on a budget. The two remaining chefs are thrown for a loop when preparing a guilty pleasure.
