If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/22/12

Last week, I was away for a family vacation in warm, sunny Florida, only to return to 21 degrees and snowing in Massachusetts. While there, we played a lot of mini-golf, and I quickly learned how both fun and stressful it can be hanging out with toddlers 24/7. 🙂 Now, I could use another week off just to catch up on all of last week’s new TV shows that are piled up on my TiVos! Plus, tonight there’s another full lineup of great new episodes to add to the pile! Check out what we think you should watch!

I have really been enjoying Angry Boys on HBO. Chris Lilley has put together a great new crop of characters for his latest show. Identical twins Daniel and Nathan Sims were my favorite characters from Lilley’s previous series, We Can Be Heroes, so it is great to see them return in this series. The new character of their grandmother, Ruth “Gran” Sims, a guard at a juvenile detention facility, is also hilarious and a great addition to the family. However, my favorite new character has to be Jen Okazaki, the over-zealous and controlling mother of skateboarding superstar Tim, who takes the whole stage mother/manager to absurd levels. This show is is so funny—I love how completely insane and inappropriate it is! We are halfway through and get another double-bill of episodes tonight.

In tonight’s first episode, S.mouse’s disappointing community service at an elementary school creates a desire to get back in the public eye; Daniel’s mom makes him socialize with a gay classmate when she’s fed up with his homophobic slurs; Tim’s relationship with his mom sours as his 16th birthday approaches.

Then, in the second episode, Nathan’s success with girls irks Daniel to no end; Blake gets a visit from an old friend fresh out of jail, but Kareena is less than thrilled when he lends the ex-con his van; Gran gets the boys ready for Family Day at Garingal, and shares a secret with one of the inmates.

See both episodes tonight on HBO at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Angry Boys @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/22/11

Do you hear those bells jingling? They’re getting closer! Only 3 sleeps until Christmas Day, and I admit to not having anything wrapped yet. Good thing I don’t have to wrap the shows that are on tonight, or else you’d be waiting until Christmas morning to watch them. 🙂 Let’s take a look at those shows now.

Week after week, they have battled it out on the stage, until there were 3 left standing. Tonight on The X Factor, we find out who will go home with the $5 million dollar contract and a Pepsi commercial. Last night, they all gave it their best, and to be honest, I’m okay with any of them winning – although I really did love Chris last night, because he has the most heart by far.

To see who takes it all, tune in to FOX at 8/7c for the two-hour finale. Learn where to find episodes online of The X Factor @ Clicker.

Community fans are up in arms over the season being cut short. There is chatter that it is due to trying to make room for the show Whitney, but nothing has been confirmed. The uproar has fans on Twitter sporting fake mustaches and beards in their profile pictures to show their support. In the meantime, we will savor the episodes we’re given, like the last, where Dean Pelton tried to make a new commercial for the school, with Luis Guzman as guest star. The gems keep coming, and hopefully, so will new episodes, let the campaign continue!

Tonight, Jeff and Shirley bond over the game of foosball, and after breaking Abed’s limited edition “Dark Knight DVD,” Annie claims that someone broke into the apartment and stole it.

Bones is back, baby! Oooh, speaking of baby! *grin* Unless you have been living under a rock or totally didn’t see the finale last season, you know Booth and Bones are having a baby… Some fans don’t want to see them together. Some, like me, have been pining for that for years now. I am one of the lucky few who have gotten to see not only the premiere, but the second episode, and I honestly believe everyone—no matter which side you have been rooting for—will be happy about how it is handled. The cases are still as gruesome and as entertaining as always, the rest of the cast is just as funny and has just as much chemistry as they always have. And while we do get to see Booth and Bones acting like real couple, it isn’t all mushy gushy romance, either. That isn’t who Booth and Bones are, and the writers know that. If you are worried at all, I ask you to trust the people we have always trusted.

Tonight on “The Memories in the Shallow Grave,” the Jeffersonian team identifies the remains of a women in a paintball field, after which they discover two missing-persons reports in her file, leading Booth and Sweets to interrogate her husband. Brennan and Booth adjust to being an expectant couple.

See the long-awaited season premiere tonight on FOX at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Bones @ Clicker.

Interview with Maria Bello from Prime Suspect

I recently got the chance to participate in an interview with Maria Bello from Prime Suspect, and she was funny, endearing, and amusing. She discussed how she feels about her character’s strength, favorite moments of taping, and so much more.

If you haven’t heard of or seen the show yet, here’s the description from NBC: “Based on the critically acclaimed British television series of the same name & redeveloped for American audiences, Prime Suspect takes a look inside a New York City homicide department. The series stars Maria Bello (A History of Violence) as tough-as-nails NYPD Homicide Detective Jane Timoney, an outsider who has just transferred to a new squad, where her new colleagues already dislike her. Jane is confident and focused—and also rude, abrupt, and occasionally reckless. She has her vices, and rumors of a questionable past follow her everywhere, but at the end of the day, she’s an instinctively brilliant cop who can’t be distracted from the only important thing: the prime suspect.

Also starring are Aidan Quinn (Unknown) as Lt. Kevin Sweeney, BrĂan F. O’Byrne (Flash Forward) as Det. Reg Duffy, Tim Griffin (Star Trek) as Det. Augie Blando, Kirk Acevedo (Fringe) as Det. Luisito Calderon, Damon Gupton (The Last Airbender) as Det. Evrard Velerio, and Peter Gerety (Blue Bloods) as Jane’s father, Desmond Timoney.”
