So, how was your Halloween? The weather here was perfect—a nice change from Sandy’s reign earlier in the week. However, I still didn’t get a lot of Trick-or-Treaters and have almost 2 pounds of candy left over! We’ve got some recommendations on what you should check out tonight while snacking away on all your fun size left-overs.
Kyle’s Choice
Tonight, Showtime premieres the late-night scripted mini-series, Reality Show. Mickey Wager, a reality TV producer who hasn’t had a hit show in a while, is looking for the idea that will get him back on top. He decides to secretly film an average American family, Truman Show-style, for a new reality series. However, he soon realizes that the family is too boring, so he starts to inject some artificial drama and temptations into the family’s life, with crazy results.
The series star and creator, Adam Rifkin, also created last year’s LOOK mini-series for Showtime. While I could never really get into LOOK, the idea for this new show sounds great. And based on the trailer, it looks like it’s going to be a really fun dark comedy and a great commentary on just how exploitative and fake reality TV has become.
In tonight’s episode, “The Pitch,” the perfect subjects are found, although they may be too average.
