If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/27/14

I am absolutely loving all these warm temperatures and beautiful days, even though I know it means that the super humid days of summer are just around the corner. That’s okay, because after the ridiculous winter we had, I am going to enjoy every minute of the heat. When my day has come to an end, it’s time for me to sit my butt down and watch some TV. Let’s see what we’re recommending you watch, too.

riotsmallSummer television is filled with lots of shows that are on purely for entertainment that require no real attention to a story line and are just plain fun. Riot is one of those shows for sure. This show takes two teams of celebrities and comedians and puts them in a series of competitions that have them singing, dancing, and creating comedy sketches while dealing with crazy obstacles, such as a set that’s tilted. The first episode was hilarious, with Steve Carrell sliding all over the place during the sketch. I’m looking forward to seeing more of the insane antics these celebrities get up to. Aren’t you?

On tonight’s episode, “Jason Alexander and Cheryl Hines,” the show features two of television’s favorite comedy stars in the wackiest and funniest song, dance, and sketch challenges, while navigating the show’s trademark one-of-a-kind set, tilted at a 22-degree angle.

To let this great show bring you giggles, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent, The Night Shift, and Extreme Weight Loss.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/13/14

It’s amazing how many finales are on this week. There are eleven of them tonight alone. To help you wade through some of the excellent TV tonight, check out our recommendations.

ncis513smallLast week’s NCIS saw Tony overseas in France, where he was supposed to pick up (take custody of) Amanda, an Admiral’s daughter, who had turned into a jet-setting party girl and had been featured on the cover of a magazine with the girlfriend of a very bad dude. But when he got to the NCIS office there, the girl was gone and all of the agents had been killed. When he finally found her, she said she’d sneaked out the bathroom window, so she hadn’t known they were dead. Tony got set up by the police detective, so he and the girl went on the run. He couldn’t figure out why she was so hell bent on going back, and she finally admitted to being a member of the Defense Clandestine Service, and her cover was the party-girl persona. In the end, he was able to get in touch with the gang in Virginia via a game (Symbolese—is that real? I gotta know!), and they were able to send a rescue via Interpol. The cutest part of the episode, though, was Jimmy finding out via Symbolese that his wife, Breena, was pregnant. Yay!

Tonight, NCIS pays tribute to Ralph Waite, who played Gibbs’s dad. Waite passed away a few months ago, so the show is taking that into account and working it into the story line. Waite is best known for his work on The Waltons, Carnivale, Days of Our Lives, and as Booth’s grandfather on Bones. He will be missed.

On tonight’s episode, “Honor Thy Father,” the NCIS team investigates whether a fire on a U.S. Navy ship that served as a secret detention site for indicted terrorists was accidental or an intentional diversion for an escape. Meanwhile, Gibbs travels to his childhood home following news of his father’s passing.

See how the season ends tonight on CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing 19 Kids & Counting, Chow Masters, NCIS: LA, Riot, The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Chicago Fire, Chopped, The Little Couple, Playing House, & Person of Interest.
