If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/6/14

It’s insane how much new TV is on these days—and it always feels like I am in a hopeless battle to keep up with all of it! While the last thing I need is to do is add even more new shows to my already 95+% full TiVo, we’ve got a couple of them among our suggestions of what you should check out tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

sirenssmallTonight, USA Network adds the new comedy series Sirens to its schedule. The series follows a group of talented-but-immature Chicago EMTs whose skills at saving people in their ambulance haven’t really extended to saving their own relationships. Police officer Theresa (Jessica McNamee) broke up with her sports-loving EMT boyfriend Johnny (Michael Mosley) due to his inability to commit. Now Johnny drives in an ambulance along with his all-knowing best friend Hank (Kevin Daniels) and wide-eyed rookie Brian (Kevin Bigley), who still lives with his parents.

The premise sounds ripe for humor—and with Denis Leary as one of the execuive producers, I have high hopes that this show will be a lot of fun. It’s been a really long time since USA has had an original 30-minute comedy series, but with reruns of Modern Family doing so well for the network, it seems like the right time to try again.

On tonight’s first episode, “Pilot,” Johnny sees Theresa for the first time since taking a break from their relationship, while Hank decides who to list as his emergency contact. And in the second episode, “A Bitch Named Karma,” the guys enter a heady discussion about karma after lightning strikes at a church picnic, while a scheduling conflict leaves them obligated to educate children about CPR on the same day as a big football game.

Check out this original new comedy tonight on USA Network at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, The Millers, The Crazy Ones, Elementary, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Grey’s Anatomy, Community, Parks and Recreation, Hollywood Game Night, Parenthood, Chopped Canada, King of the Nerds, Suits, Vikings, Review, Portlandia, and The Red Road.
