If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/26/13

Television is slowing down a bit as most of our favorite shows are coming to an end for the season, but don’t fret. The summer season is just about to spring to life. As for tonight, it’s a little slow, so let’s see what is on tonight that we think you should tune in to.

Megan’s Choice

smash526smallIt’s surprising to me that Smash didn’t do as well this season as it did last. Especially when shows like Glee manage to squeak by with another season when their last one was mediocre at best. In all truth, I found this season of Smash to be way more entertaining and well-balanced than last season.

Unfortunately, tonight, the lights go out on our favorite Broadway show. My hope is that the writers care enough about the viewers to make sure we get a nicely wrapped-up ending. NO CLIFF-HANGERS, PLEASE!!!

On tonight’s finale, “The Nominations/The Tonys,” tension escalates as Tony nominations loom.

To see how this series wraps up, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Iron Chef America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/26/13

Thank goodness it’s Tuesday. *snicker* My kiddo heads back to school today after his week home for spring break. To make it all the sweeter, there’s some great television on tonight, so we’re here to give you our oh-so-humble recommendations. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

ncis326smallLeon Vance is absolutely killing me with heartbreak on NCIS. His search to find a nanny just hammered home how broken up his is still about his wife’s death. Speaking of heartbreaking, last week’s case was one of the saddest things I’ve seen on that show ever. The dog lying down after his handler had been shot just made me sob. Then when the dog was shot, and again at the end, when the wife was sitting with Gibbs at her husband’s funeral, and the dog came over and Gibbs told her he was retired and she could keep him… All around, I cried for most of the episode. It was great.

The promos for this episode make it look like it’s going to be another good one. I love McGee, and it’s going to focus on him more than the others for a change. It should be fun. 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Squall,” a massive storm brings the NCIS team aboard the USS Borealis, where everyone becomes a suspect once the crime scene proves that Mother Nature wasn’t the only culprit. Tension builds when McGee discovers that his estranged father, Navy Admiral John McGee, was on board during the incident. Jamey Sheridan (Homeland, Law & Order: CI), Joel Gretsch (V, The 4400), Reggie Austin (Life UneXpected, The Starter Wife), & Zane Holtz (Make It or Break It) guest star.

See how things go between McGee and his father tonight on CBS at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, 19 Kids & Counting, Dancing with the Stars, NCIS: LA, The New Normal, Cougar Town, Justified, Robot Combat League, & Body of Proof.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/5/13

I just have to say that last night, I watched Breaking Dawn 2 for the first time, and…damn. It was everything I’d hoped for and more. I was blown away by the story and the way the movie ended the series. Now, on to television… Last night’s Bones was great and incredibly sad. I’m glad to see that tonight, we’ll get some more great episodes. Read on to find out all our thoughts on what we recommend. 😉

ncisla35smallLast week’s episode of NCIS: LA focused on Sam, when he became too invested in a case involving an Afghani man who helped him years ago overseas. It was a very sad case, actually. The man had given Sam “lokhay,” which basically amounted to hiding him from the bad guys. The man’s nephew blamed him for the other men killing their entire family, and he was helping set up Sam to get killed.

This week’s episode once again features Sam…and while I’m okay with that, I think we’re overdue for a good Deeks-centric episode, don’t you think? 😉

On tonight’s episode, “Wanted,” Sam fears for his family’s safety when his wife is called to resume a former CIA cover after a case suggests ties to the infamous Sidorov and his stolen nukes. Aunjanue Ellis guest stars as Sam’s wife.

See if Sam’s wife can come out okay in the end tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS: LA @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, The Taste, The New Normal, Body of Proof, Chopped, Cougar Town, Justified, & Robot Combat League.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/26/13

I’m still getting winter here too, but not nearly as bad as Jenny. You’d think we’d get it worse, seeing as everyone assumes Canadians live in igloos and ride polar bears… In fact, we don’t ride polar bears—just moose. 😉 Now, while I amuse myself with my terrible wit, you should check out what’s on TV tonight.

Megan’s Choice

smash226smallFunny thing about Smash is that at first, I was set to hate it because I was such a fan of Glee, but then I watched a few episodes and fell in love. Musical shows aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this one has the right balance of songs, drama, comedy, and just plain entertainment. There are still a few moments of stunt casting, but if Jennifer Hudson is the stunt cast of choice, then sign me up. She was FAB-U-LOUS! I am also loving how Ivy is getting back up and going for her dream the right way instead of sabotaging Karen.

Now, let’s talk about the new sexy character of Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan, who I loved in the movie Joyful Noise)… This character is exactly what the show needed: someone to challenge Karen and make her relax a bit. It doesn’t hurt that he is super talented and has a sexy voice to match his angelic face. 😉 I am really enjoying the direction the show is going in this season, and I simply want more, more, MORE!

On tonight’s episode, “The Song,” Karen orchestrates a huge opportunity for Jimmy and Kyle; Peter challenges Julia as they continue to work together; Eileen faces a moral crossroads that has significant ramifications for Bombshell.

To see which choice Eileen makes, tune in to NBC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Smash @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching NCIS, NCIS: LA, Golden Boy, Go On, Body of Proof, Cult, Hart of Dixie, The Mindy Project, and New Girl.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/19/13

Did everyone have a good day off yesterday? If you didn’t have it off, I hope you at least had a decent Monday. I did some writing, watched some TV, and enjoyed the cool, cloudy weather. I’m glad that today is a normal day, though, because the kiddo can go back to school. Yay! Finally! LOL As for tonight, there’s some great stuff on, so we’re here to tell you what we think you should be watching. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

bodyofproof219smallAt the end of last season of Body of Proof, I was not a happy camper. Peter had been gravely injured by a serial killer that Megan first helped put away; the man escaped prison by killing the guard who was in cahoots with him. Of course, that was after everything Peter had already been through with his girlfriend Dani dying from the whole bioterrorist attack. Poor guy just couldn’t catch a break! I hated that they left it there, with Peter in Megan’s arms, dying unless he was saved in time. Then, over the summer, we found out that not only was Nicholas Bishop (Peter) not returning, neither were John Carroll Lynch (Bud) or Sonja Sohn (Sam). I really loved Peter (although I loved him more before Dani. but whatever), so I was sad that he wouldn’t be back. And how would they write out the three characters?? It was so crazy & sad to think about.

Then I found out they had cast two new actors to play cops that work with Megan…and while I didn’t know the first guy, the second name I did know: Mark Valley. I will ALWAYS think of him as the guy from Keen Eddie, even though he’s been on other things for longer and more recently. But my hubs and I both ADORE him. THEN I heard he was going to be playing an old love interest of Megan’s and there would be a spark still, and I was even more thrilled. And I was right to be. I’ve seen the first two episodes, and they are really, really good. I will miss Peter especially, but Mark Valley’s Tommy is a welcome and fresh edition to the cast, I think.

On tonight’s episode, “Abducted, Part 1,” Megan returns to work months after the events of that fateful night, and she is surprised by a man from her past: Tommy Sullivan, the new detective assigned to her case. Megan, along with Tommy and his rookie partner, Adam Schaeffer (Elyes Gabel, Game of Thrones), must stop a serial killer whose victims are young war veterans. As she learns more about the crime, the stakes rise when she gets a call from the killer…who is holding her teenage daughter, Lacey, hostage.

Don’t miss the season premiere tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Body of Proof @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Raising Hope, The Taste, Cult, NCIS: LA, The New Normal, Cougar Town, Justified, & Total Blackout.
