If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/10/14

What a difference a week makes. Last week, my kiddo was off from school on Monday because of snow. Yesterday? Just over 60 degrees outside. Gotta love Kansas… On a good note, there’s some really great TV on tonight, so at least that’s consistent! Check out our recommendations. 🙂

believe310smallTonight, JJ Abrams brings another new show to TV that could very well become one of my all-time favorites. Believe is about a ten-year-old little girl named Bo who, since the age of two, has had gifts such as levitation, telekinesis, the ability to control nature, and even the ability to predict the future. She was raised by a small group known as the “True Believers,” kept safe from harm and other people who would forcibly use her gifts for personal gain. But as she’s grown, her powers have gotten stronger, and her life and future are in jeopardy, so the “Believers” turn to the one person they…believe can keep her safe and be her full-time guardian: Tate. The problem is, Tate is on death row after being wrongfully imprisoned, so they must break him out. The show is their journey.

When I saw this pilot, I fell in love with it, more so than possibly any other pilot last summer. The cast is great, the stories are great, the action is great… I have been waiting on pins and needles to be able to share it with all of you and with my family, who didn’t watch the pilot with me last summer.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” a young girl who was born with extraordinary powers gains an unlikely protector out of a death row escapee who was wrongfully imprisoned, as the two flee from malevolent forces that want to use the girl’s abilities to take control of the world.

See if you become a “Believer” like me tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/17/14

Welcome, Monday. Most of us don’t like you, but you continue to torment us. You and Old Man Winter should get together and go… Never mind me. 😉 It’s warming up outside, but not completely. Still, it’s better than the frigid temperatures it was. Some people have work off today for the holiday. My kid has it off school, so at least there’s that. Now, on to better things, like what we’re recommending you watch on TV tonight. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

castle217smallI’m so thrilled that Castle is on ABC because we’re not having to wait all these weeks for new episodes. It’s still been two weeks since the last new episode, which is too long. 😉 Last time was all about the murder of a young woman in the fashion industry, which brought Beckett back to her short time as a model. Castle was shocked by that…and thrilled. In the end, it was another man from the company that killed the girl because he was gunning for the boss’s job. But the more important part of the episode was Beckett putting off the wedding as she was trying on a (I’m sorry, but…) terribly ugly wedding dress as a favor for the fashion queen/her ex-boss, then getting the dress as a gift from said ex-boss, then telling Castle she would rather get married sooner than later. Turned out she was feeling sad because her mom wouldn’t be there, but she realized that it wouldn’t matter if she put it off—her mother wouldn’t be there anyway, and she loved Castle and wanted to marry him. I just hope something happens to the dress and she has to choose something else, because it really was ugly. *laugh* She can usually make anything look good, but… Ack.

On tonight’s episode, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” the murder of a high school mean girl draws Castle back to one of his many alma maters, where he is giddy to learn that the evidence points to a surprising perpetrator: a teenage telekinetic, throwing Beckett and him into a real-life Carrie.

See if Castle & Beckett can catch the murderer tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Almost Human, Bitten, Worst Cooks in America, Mystery Diners, & Intelligence.

Our Thoughts on the CW 2013-14 Pilot Trailers

Megan, Kyle, & I have been giving our opinions on the trailers for the new fall shows. You can check out the ones we’ve already posted: ABC, CBS, NBC, & FOX. Now, we’re here to give you our opinions on the CW pilot previews.

Reign

  • Jenny: Not. My. Thing. At. All. Even less so than regular dramas. Marking as Most Likely 1 and Done…but I’m not even going to give it that much. – Most Likely 1 and Done.
  • Megan: A story about Mary Queen of Scots? I’m intrigued…but cautious. This is an astronomical story to tackle, and if they mess it up (which, frankly, The CW has a history of doing), it’ll be horrific. Don’t mess with historic figures unless you can do them justice. All that aside, the trailer looks promising and I’m mildly hopeful. – Curious.
  • Kyle: From the video, you can’t really tell what this is about. If it falls into the political Tudors-style show, then I’m excited. However, if it falls into a romance drama like most CW shows, I’ll most likely be dropping it quickly. – Curious.
