Jenny’s Choice
I’m not a fan of a lot of shows on ABC Family, but their latest, Stitchers, is definitely on the “must-watch†side. The show follows Kirsten (newcomer Emma Ishta), a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be “stitched†into the minds of the recently deceased, using their memories to investigate murders and decipher mysteries that otherwise would have gone to the grave. Working alongside Kirsten is Cameron (Kyle Harris, Carrie Diaries), a brilliant neuroscientist whose passion for the program is evident in his work. The secret program is headed by Maggie (Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Eureka), a skilled veteran of covert operations, and includes Linus (Ritesh Rajan, upcoming Jungle Book), a socially immature bioelectrical engineer and communications technician. Kirsten’s roommate, Camille (Allison Scagliotti, Warehouse 13), a gifted computer science grad student, is also recruited to use her skills to assist Kirsten in her new role as a “stitcher.â€
I’ve seen the first two episodes, and it’s really fantastic. Kirsten reminds me of Brennan on Bones, in that her sense of humor is…well…pretty much nonexistent. That in and of itself is funny. But it also makes the surrounding cast important, and thankfully, that’s not a problem. I adore Cameron (like, huge new TV crush), Linus is extremely funny, Camille is fun and interesting (and I absolutely love Allison Scagliotti), and Salli Richardson-Whitfield is great as Kirsten’s new boss.
On tonight’s episode, “A Stitch in Time,†a young woman with a talent for technology joins a covert agency to solve crimes and mysteries by entering the minds of recently deceased individuals.
Don’t miss the premiere tonight on ABC Family at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Chrisley Knows Best, Hell’s Kitchen, Junk Food Flip, The Little Couple, Chopped, Royal Pains, Your Family or Mine, & I Can Do That.
