If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/31/13

Happy Easter! I hope the Easter bunny brought you lots of delicious chocolate and you got spoiled with an over abundance of family time. (Don’t worry… Everyone is happy when their family goes home. You’re not alone.) While we come down from the sugar highs—I love those mini-eggs—let’s see what you can watch tonight.

Megan’s Choice

thebible331smallThe Bible has been a delight for our eyes, our minds, and our hearts. Tonight, it comes to an end. I have thoroughly enjoyed the beloved Biblical stories coming to life on my screen, and I’ll miss it when it’s over. Mark Burnett and Roma Downey did a fabulous job with this series, and I’m looking forward to also purchasing it on DVD to enjoy over and over.

On tonight’s episode, “Passion/Courage,” after Peter denies Jesus and Judas ends his own life, crowds seek Jesus’s crucifixion, but his shocking resurrection from the dead sparks a new movement of faith as Paul, John, and others speak of Christ’s return, only to be met with hatred and death.

To watch the true meaning behind Easter, tune in to the History Channel at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Bible @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Cupcake Wars, The Amazing Race, and Vikings.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/3/13

It’s the start of another week…the first one in March. It’s hard to believe we’re already on our third month of 2013. Crazy! Time is really flying. Part of that is because we’ve had some great TV on, and really, tonight is no exception. We have a couple of different choices this week, so check out our brilliance! 😉

Jenny’s Choice #1

thebible33smallTonight is the series premiere for the mini-series The Bible, brought to TV by executive producers (& husband & wife) Mark Burnett (of The Voice, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and a whole slew of other reality shows fame) and Roma Downey (the title character of Touched by an Angel). From HISTORY, this “epic 10-part miniseries retells stories from the Scriptures for a whole new generation. Breathtaking in scope and scale, The Bible features powerful performances, exotic locales, and dazzling visual effects that breathe spectacular life into the dramatic tales of faith and courage from Genesis through Revelation. This historic television event is sure to entertain and inspire the whole family.”

I saw an interview with Mark & Roma, and they’ve been working on the show for over four years in preparation. One of their kids, I believe, told them specifically to make sure the special effects don’t suck. LOL When I first saw the promo for this, I knew it was something my family & I were going to have to sit down and watch together. We aren’t religious people—meaning we don’t go to church like we know we should—but we are believers—and we wish we weren’t as lazy so we could have our son in church…so hopefully this will keep him engaged and help him to learn more about the most important stories in the bible.

On tonight’s episode, “In the Beginning/Exodus,” powerfully dramatic re-enactments and engaging cinematography depict God’s wrath on sin by flooding Earth, Abraham proving his faith in God, and Moses leading the Israelites on their escape from Egypt and delivering the Ten Commandments.

See the beautiful and dramatic two-hour premiere tonight on the History Channel at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Bible @ Clicker.
