If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/31/13

Welcome to Hump Day! I had a great Tuesday night. It’s one of my favorite nights for TV because I have stuff left over from Monday plus all the great TV. I laughed my way through Whose Line, worried through Rizzoli & Isles, and just generally had a good night. There’s a lot of great TV on tonight, too, on this last day of July, which makes me VERY happy. So check out our recommendations for what you should be watching tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

meljoey731smallI’m a big fan of comedies, and one of my favorite summer comedies is Melissa & Joey. They’re finding a way to make the “Ryder being home schooled” thing work, although I’m not sure WHY they did it. Meanwhile, last week, Mel and Joe learned that Zander and Lennox had already had sex, and when Lennox wrote on her blog about it only being okay, Zander broke up with her. Joe got angry, but it turned out that Zander was mad because she wrote about it. He didn’t break up with her because he’d finally gotten sex from her. That was a really adult story line—and more than a little awkward to watch with my 15yo son, although I guess somewhat appropriate, since we’ve had to deal with what to share and what not to share on Facebook. heh Ryder’s story line about him and his naïve girlfriend was funny, as was meeting her two moms. Watching Ryder trying to play the bad boy was pretty humerous.

I love this show, but I’m hoping we’ll see some movement on the Mel/Joe relationship front soon. Driving me nuts! 🙂

On tonight’s episode, “Good Morning Toledo,” Mel and Joe are invited to co-host a week of “Good Morning Toledo,” which Mel thinks will help her earn voters. Their constant bickering on air garners rave reviews with the audience, and they’re an instant hit. But when the secret to their popularity turns out to be talking a little too personally about Lennox and Ryder, they have to decide if fame or family is more important.

See if they make the right decision tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, MasterChef, Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, Hot in Cleveland, Top Chef Masters, Top Shot, The Exes, & The Soul Man.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/10/13

There has been some incredibly insane weather around here, with some parts of Ontario getting a month’s worth of rain in just an hour! This is on top of the flooding in Alberta that recently took place. Our thoughts go out to all who are affected. On a lighter note, let’s see what’s on television tonight.

Megan’s Choice

masterchef2012smallMasterChef has been having a really good season, and I missed it last week. Last episode, we watched the contestants battle it out while cooking for a wedding, and it was an up-and-down situation. In the end, it left Lynn and Jonny competing during the elimination challenge of making macaroons. They are such delicate cookies, and Jonny couldn’t handle being gentle under pressure and he was eliminated. I was sad because I really liked him!

On tonight’s episode, “11 Chefs Compete/10 Chefs Compete,” actress and restaurateur Eva Longoria surprises the contestants and selects Mexican-inspired ingredients for the mystery box challenge. The contestant who creates the most impressive restaurant-quality dish will determine which food basket each of the remaining contestants will receive in the elimination round. Later, in the team challenge, the home cooks hit the beach and cook fish tacos for more than 100 hungry surfers. The surfers will determine the winning team, who will earn a huge surprise: tickets to the 2013 MLB All-Star Game in New York City, airing Tuesday, July 16, on FOX. Meanwhile, the losing team faces a pressure test and must cook a perfect chicken breast three ways. In the end, two more contestants will go home.

To see how your favorite does, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The American Baking Competition, Camp, The Bridge, and America’s Got Talent.
