If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/5/14

Ahh, it’s finally Wednesday! My kid’s been gone on a family trip to Disney World in Florida since early Friday morning. I’ll be so glad to have him home today! But enough about me… Check out what we’re recommending for tonight.

hotincleveland115smallI’m doing a dual pick tonight, with the season premieres of Hot in Cleveland & The Exes. Last season, the women in Cleveland celebrated their collective birthdays, and per tradition, they set one another up on blind dates. Melanie’s date ended up together with his sex therapist, who he’d started seeing in order to be ready to date Melanie, but along the way, they fell for each other. Victoria’s date (Luke Perry) was growing body parts (noses and…who knows what else) for other people on his body. And Joy was proposed to…by Simon, Mitch, & Bob. But the season ended when she was accidently knocked unconscious and then spirited away to the hospital, before she could announce her decision. And while waiting for her, Elka was shocked when Max walked by! Meanwhile, on the season finale of The Exes, Phil and Nicki were about to sleep together but changed their minds, and Haskell, thinking he had to interrupt and tell Phil about his feelings for her, barged in, told Phil he was in love with Nicki, and was shocked when she walked in after overhearing him.

theexes115smallSo who will Joy choose—if anyone—and what will Nicki say about Haskell’s declaration? I’m so excited for the new seasons to start tonight so I can find out!

On tonight’s Hot in Cleveland premiere, “Comfort and Joy,” Joy decides whether to marry Mitch, Simon, or Bob. Victoria’s new CGI movie proves challenging in ways she didn’t expect. Elka tries to bring film jobs to Cleveland.

Then on the premiere of The Exes, “The Devil Wears Hanes,” Holly makes an attempt at playing Cupid following Haskell’s declaration of love for Nicki; meanwhile, Stuart comes up with a plan to secretly arrange for Phil to get together with his crush from when he was in high school.

Check out the laughs tonight on TV Land at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, The Mysteries of Laura, Criminal Minds, Cutthroat Kitchen, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago PD, Kitchen Inferno, Stalker, & Top Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/12/14

The cold weather’s done a number on a lot of people. My lips are so dry and cracked, they’re killing me. My friend slipped on icy concrete steps and is now wearing a hard splint—her wrist isn’t broken, but she’ll have to go back and check to see if she tore anything. Poor friend. 🙁 So be careful out there, because the cold weather can be dangerous! Take our recommendations below and stay in to watch TV! 😉

theexes212smallI love The Exes, and this season’s been great. The one thing I’m unhappy about, though, is that Eden and Phil broke up. Maybe they’ll get back together in the future, but the show is fun and funny regardless. Last week, Holly was injured after she fell in the bathtube, and Eden and Haskell were roped into taking care of her—Holly guilted them by reminding Haskell that it was his bath stuff she slipped on and reminding Eden that Holly took care of her when she was pregnant. Unfortunately, she was…not the easiest patient, and Eden and Haskell tried to drug her to get her to sleep. When Holly refused to eat the pudding they’d made her, Haskell accidentally ingested a bite, which put him right out. Holly realized what had happened, and Eden decided to follow Haskell, so she started scarfing the pudding down. It was kind of silly because Haskell went down after one bite, while Eden was still standing after four or five. But whatever. 😉 Meanwhile, Phil slept with one of Nicki’s old friends, and he found out after that she was not long away from taking her vows to become a nun. He freaked out. But it turned out that sleeping with him simply reinforced her decision, rather than changed her mind. I like Leah Remini, but I kinda miss Holly hanging out with the guys. *shrug*

On tonight’s episode, “When Haskell Met Sammy,” Holly accidentally sets Haskell up with a gay man. Stuart helps Phil get over his fear of funerals. Leah Remini, Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives), & Ed Quinn (Eureka) guest star.

See what happens when Haskell meets the…man of his dreams tonight on TV Land at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Buy This Restaurant, & Men at Work.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/18/13

I’m so excited because we’re a week from Christmas, but even more, we’re celebrating Christmas & my birthday with our son on Friday, since he leaves on Saturday for two weeks with my mom over the Christmas break. So I’m excited to give my kiddo his gifts. It’s my favorite thing, to be able to see him that excited. 🙂 There’s not a lot on TV right now, so Kyle & JJ are skipping, and Megan’s got a horrible cold, so she’s bowing out as well. It’s up to me to give my recommendation for tonight. 😉

theexes1218smallI loved last week’s mid-season premiere of The Exes. The episode was all about secrets—from the secret about her relationship with Phil that Eden kept from Holly, to the supposed secret about how she sometimes faked her orgasms with him. It was a lot of fun, but the best part was the gang going to Eden’s itty bitty tiny apartment at the end of the episode to apologize. That apartment was TINY. haha It was hysterical seeing them all crammed into it.

On tonight’s episode, “How the Grinch Spent Xmas,” as the gang prepares for Christmas, Haskell convinces Phil to make a sexy present for Eden. Holly meets the perfect guy on a flight. When he’s denied entry to the country, Holly has to choose between the perfect Christmas with her friends or remaining at the airport with the man of her dreams. Ben Lawson guest stars.

Find out what decision Holly makes tonight on TV Land at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching Top Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/11/13

Holy icicles Batman, it’s really cold here today! I believe it’s about -23 Celsius here with the windchill, which is about -9 Fahrenheit; so yes, it’s freezing! While I cuddle under my blankets and sip a warm cup of tea, let’s see what we all should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

kellyclarksonchristmassmallWhat better way to fight the blustery cold outside than to watch Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale? I have adored Kelly since her season on American Idol, (you know, back when American Idol was still worth watching? 🙂 ), and I have followed her career along the way. Last year, I had the chance to see this beautiful girl in concert, and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC!

Tonight, she’s joined by Blake Shelton, Reba, & Trisha Yearwood to sing some holiday songs straight from her new Christmas album, “Wrapped in Red.” There will also be some appearances by other celebrities, including Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, and Ken Jeong. Kelly and her guests will celebrate the season with a comedic take on a traditional Christmas morality tale. I for one am super excited!

To get your holiday dose of this fabulous girl, tune in to NBC following The Sing-Off at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Sing-Off, Criminal Minds, Modern Family, The X Factor, CSI, Super Fun Night, and Top Chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/19/13

I have been spending a lot of time fishing lately, and I have learned a few interesting things about myself. It’s amazing how much we learn about ourselves when we push our comfort zone—unfortunately, how far I push my comfort zone, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to handle putting the bait on the hook myself… Worms feel icky. 🙂 Good thing I have someone who will do it for me, just like I help plan his television schedule! Speaking of schedules, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

americanbakingcompetitionsmallAt first, I was skeptical about whether or not CBS would be able to pull of a baking show, but with The American Baking Competition, they proved to me that they can! I have really been enjoying the level of challenges on this show, as well as Jeff Foxworthy’s hosting—he is actually quite funny. Last week’s cake challenges were tough, but I loved all the surprise cakes at the end, especially Kolette’s checkered cake. I now want to challenge myself to make an awesome checkered cake like that.

On tonight’s episode, “Breads,” the contestants must bake and present bread to the toughest judge of all—Paul Hollywood; one contestant add red-hots to her bread.

To see whose bread rises above the rest, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching MasterChef, Franklin & Bash, and Hot in Cleveland.
