thegoldbergs415smallOne of my favorites comedies is still The Goldbergs. It really is one of the funniest shows on TV. And I love the fact that so much of it is straight from Creator/Executive Producer Adam Goldberg’s childhood. Last week, it was Adam’s birthday, and while he simply wanted to hang out at the arcade with his friends, adamant about not having a birthday party — which he deemed too “young” — his mother (unsurprisingly) went behind his back and invited his friends (and one not-really-a-friend popular boy) over for a sleepover. Unfortunately, the boys decided to act stupid: one brought a smoking pipe, one brought throwing stars, and one brought homemade beer…which unsurprisingly made all the other boys sick (thankfully before Adam could take a drink). After being told they couldn’t hang out together anymore, Adam convinced his mom to reconsider and she finally realized that he was growing up, but he was still her little boy. Meanwhile, Barry and Erica tried to convince Murray to buy them a CD player (think HUGE stereo system for like $800. LOL), but he refused. After the usual back and forth, they got their CD player and the three of them took a step toward understanding one another like this show is so great at doing.

The funniest part for me, though, was at the end, when Barry had a portable CD player (like a Walkman) and he complained to Erica about it skipping. She was convinced she had it right when she held it way up above her head in one hand…but no, it still skipped. Oh yeah… I remember those days! That’s what I love about this show: the way it takes me back to my childhood every week. And tonight, we get two episodes, so double yay!

On tonight’s first episode, “La Biblioteca Es Libros,” Beverly finds out Adam is failing Spanish class, so she pays his teacher to tutor him. Barry takes on a job delivering pizzas in an effort to impress Murray, and Erica is bothered that Murray has never been impressed by her accomplishments. Then on the second episode, “Just Say No,” as the presidential election nears, Erica discovers Beverly always picks the candidate that Murray tells her to, and she plans to teach her mother about politics. After losing a wrestling match, Barry hopes to get on an athletic game show to prove his skills.

Laugh along with me tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c & again at 9:31/8:31c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Young & Hungry, Criminal Minds, Mystery Diners, CSI: Cyber, Hot in Cleveland, & The Soul Man.

chicagopd211smallI’m not sure about everyone else, but I was on the edge of my seat watching last week’s Chicago PD episode, especially seeing as it was a crossover from Chicago Fire. Robert Knepper was perfectly creepy as the arsonist, Gish. What a great casting choice… He always manages to give me chills when he’s being the villain on a show. Antonio went with his sister, Gabriella, who was sure that Gish was the arsonist responsible for Shay’s death (the paramedic on Chicago Fire), and while they didn’t have any hard evidence, Antonio believed his sister enough to bring Gish in for questioning. Voight knew he was the guy after talking with him, but Gish’s lawyer got him off, which led to a wild episode of cat and mouse, including Gish blowing up Roman and Burgess’s squad car. Later, we found out that Gish was now targeting Gabriella, and he ended up luring her to a building with a fake text message. Just as he was about to light the elevator on fire, intent on burning her alive, Antonio swept in and saved her. It was an intense moment. On another note, Lindsay was happy to be back with her old unit and was enjoying her secret relationship with Jay. Unfortunately, her mother called at the end of the episode and ruined her happiness by revealing she may know a murderer—her mom really knows how to cause stress and drama in Lindsay’s life. I’m looking forward to this week’s episode immensely, and I hope that we get to see more of Lindsay and Jay together.

On tonight’s episode, “Erin’s Mom,” Bunny comes to Lindsay, concerned about a suspicious repeat customer at her husband’s rental company. This lead brings Intelligence into a case which Robbery-Homicide has been working for months. Detective Gina Gawronski downloads their intel to the team. She also happens to be Antonio’s former co-worker from Vice. Voight doesn’t trust Bunny’s motives for the tip.

To see how Lindsay and the team handle this “tip,” tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Criminal Minds, black-ish, The Mentalist, Arrow, Empire, Wahlburgers, Donny Loves Jenny, and Law & Order: SVU.

chicagopd17smallTo say I’m excited for the return of Chicago PD tonight would be an understatement—I am ecstatic. In the winter finale, Burgess got shot because her idiot partner was too busy arguing with his ex—then it went to a black screen as she was lying there struggling for her life. I’m honestly going to be so very sad if they kill her off, because I love her character and I really like her and Ruzek together as a couple. Also in the last episode, Lindsay announced she was leaving to head up her own unit and the team was supportive, even though I was very sad that she’d no longer be on Voight’s team. Whatever happens, thought, one thing is for sure… I can’t get enough of this show.

On tonight’s episode, “Shouldn’t Have Been Alone,” a routine check on a potential terrorist threat puts Burgess in the hospital and Intelligence on the case of a well-planned series of related crimes.

To see the fate of the feisty Burgess, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching black-ish, The Mentalist, People’s Choice Awards, Law & Order: SVU, Empire, and Wahlburgers.
