I am loving season two of The Guest Book. It really threw me at first when I realized they’d switched locations and half the cast, but really, Eddie and Vivian really are fantastic all on their own. Add in the very mismatched couple of Nikki & Tommy and cutie Bodhi, and it’s made for a really fun season so far. My favorite part of last week was when Vivian convinced Bodhi to come stay with her and he found her hidden camera in the tissue box in the bathroom. Somehow she made him think someone from the store had put the camera in there. *snicker* I thought she was going to faint (or have a big O) on the spot when he said the way to get back at them was to…well, pleasure himself in front of the camera so they had to see it. That would serve them right! Ha! That whole scene was hysterical.

The guests have been fun this season too. The “drug rehabilitation” people I think were my favorites – or rather, that story line. I also really loved that they brought back Michael Rapaport’s character from last season. And of course, I’m on pins and needles to see when or if the scorpion is going to strike!

On tonight’s episode, “Invisible Son,” Clem asks a stripper to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to convince his vacationing family that he is normal. Once they get to Bare Feet Retreat we discover that Clem’s fake girlfriend isn’t the only thing he’s been lying about. Lexi Ainsworth, Lisa Rinna, Matthew Willig, Pete Davidson, & Tipper Newton guest star.

To see what else Clem lied about, tune in to TBS at 10:30/9:30c.

Tonight, TBS’s comedic anthology series The Guest Book returns for a second season, with a reboot of sorts. As the second season opens, we learn that the ever-scheming Vivian (Carly Jibson, One Mississippi) lost her bar and has decided to make a fresh start to her life, leaving Mount Trace for a warmer climate. She is joined by food delivery guy Eddie (Eddie Steeples, My Name Is Earl), and the two end up in the small oceanside community of Mabel Beach. Vivian gets a job at the local diner, Emmy Lou’s Grill, which is run by Tommy (Dan Beirne, Fargo) and his pregnant fiancee Nikki (Kimiko Glenn, Orange Is the New Black). Tommy’s mother also owns a local vacation property, the Barefeet Retreat. Meanwhile, Eddie is back to delivering food but sleeps on the beach, which is where he befriends local handyman Bodhi (Jimmy Tatro, American Vandal). Each episode features new guests checking into the Barefeet Retreat and recounting their adventure in the property’s guest book. The series also follows the continuing story involving those who run and work at the diner and vacation home.

I wasn’t aware that the series was going to change to a new town and feature new regular characters each season, so I was a bit surprised and disappointed to not see Garret Dillahunt in tonight’s premiere. However, I really enjoyed the new characters and new setting. The series is just as fun as the first season, and I look forward to seeing what crazy guests and odd situations will arise this year. The series has an amazing lineup of guest stars for season two: Pete Davidson (SNL), Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire), Matt Walsh (Veep), Lisa Rinna (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Martha Plimpton (The Real O’Neals, Raising Hope), Nat Faxon (Friends from College), Michael Rapaport (Atypical), Steve Zissis (Togetherness), Allison Tolman (Fargo), Oliver Hudson (Splitting Up Together), Sufe Bradshaw (Veep), Nadine Velazquez (My Name is Earl), Darrell Britt-Gibson (Barry), Adhir Kalyan (I Love Dick), Joey “Coco” Diaz (I’m Dying Up Here), Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls), Michael Cassidy (People of Earth), Kether Donohue (You’re the Worst), Lexi Ainsworth (General Hospital), and Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), plus some of the regulars from first season will return!

On the first half of tonight’s two-episode premiere, “Finding Reality,” Tara and Derek rent Barefeet Retreat in an attempt to improve their marriage, which has been complicated by Derek’s addiction to VR. Guest stars for the premiere include Joey Diaz, Kether Donohue, & Nat Faxon. Then in “Under Cover,” Rob and Shelley rent Barefeet Retreat to lure in their next mark, a woman named Angel who is abusing every substance that can be abused; Vivian develops a crush on Bodhi; Nikki goes into labor. Guest stars for episode two include Martha Plimpton, Sufe Bradshaw, & Will Arnett.

Take a retreat of your own tonight on TBS starting at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Kids Are Alright, black-ish, The Rookie, This Is Us, The Flash, Mayans M.C., and The Purge.

Tonight, FOX kicks off the fourth season of the gritty Batman drama Gotham. As the third season came to a close, there was a bit of a power struggle, with Barbara, Penguin, and even a resurrected Fish Mooney, all looking to gain control of the city. The Tetch virus was running through the city, and whichever one of them located Strange’s antidote first would control Gotham. Jim Gordon had become infected with the virus, so he, too, was after the cure to save himself and Lee. With Harvey’s help, he managed to procure two vials of the antidote, but Lee was less than thrilled to receive the cure — she had been enjoying the sense of power the virus had given her. Meanwhile, Bruce was off on his own journey of self-discovery, being brainwashed by Ra’s al Ghul. And Penguin was a bit distracted by his rivalry with Ed Nygma, which ended with Mr. Freeze putting The Riddler on ice. Penguin placed his frozen rival in his tavern as a centerpiece as he debated the most advantageous way to make use of a thawed Nygma.

The first half of fourth season is subtitled “A Dark Knight.” That means we’ll finally be seeing Bruce don a costume and heading out into the streets of Gotham to dole out vigilante justice. It looks like we’re in for another exciting season with the introduction of some more familiar villains, such as Scarecrow. I’m looking forward to seeing how the season plays out as Bruce finally becomes the masked hero we’ve been waiting for!

On tonight’s fourth season premiere, “Pax Penuina,” Gordon fears Jonathan Crane is still alive and back in Gotham when the Scarecrow’s signature MO is used in a series of robberies. Meanwhile, Penguin’s “licensing” of crime in the city backfires during the grand opening of his new Iceberg Lounge; and, in the aftermath of his encounter with Ra’s Al Ghul, Bruce begins his vigilante watch.

Don’t miss tonight’s premiere on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Orville, Flipping Out, Nathan for You, and The Guest Book.

I’ve been excited about tonight’s premiere of The Guest Book since I first heard about it. It comes from Greg Garcia, who also created & executive produced Raising Hope & My Name is Earl, both of which I adored. The premise of this show came from Garcia’s habit of writing fictional stories in the guest books of various rental cabins in order to freak out the next renters. Now these stories are coming to TBS. It’s a bit different than a normal comedy. While the house and characters living in the small mountain town remain the same, each episode will feature a different set of vacationing guests, along with a different story. So much fun and will allow for some fantastic guest stars!

The regular and recurring cast members include Kellie Martin (Army Wives) as Officer Kimberly Leahy, Charlie Robinson (Hart of Dixie) as Wilfrid, Aloma Wright (Suits) as Emma, Carly Jibson (Broadway’s Hairspray) as Vivian, and Frank, played by Lou Wilson (Tween Fest). Rounding out the first season cast is Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope) as Andrew, Laura Bell Bundy (Scream Queens) as Jessica, and Eddie Steeples (My Name is Earl) as Eddie.

On tonight’s first episode, “Story One,” months after having a kid, Tim, a middle-school science teacher, books the cabin to spice up his sex life with his wife Sandy, but when things take an unexpected turn, Tim finds himself way over his head in a criminal conspiracy.

Then on the second episode, “Story Two,” devout mother Jill is annoyed that her son Ethan has brought his atheist fiancée Lynn to the cabin for a family getaway.

Don’t miss the hilarious double-episode premiere tonight on TBS starting at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Love Connection, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Beat Bobby Flay, & Incredible Jokers.
