If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/20/13

Why can’t these networks spread out the TV shows that I watch more evenly throughout the week?! Tuesdays and Fridays are wide open, but there is so much on the rest of the week! And with the summer season quickly approaching, my TiVo is getting busier and busier each week! With so many choices, we’ve got some suggestions for what you should check out tonight. [Note from Jenny: Kyle wrote this up before learning of James Gandolfini’s death from an apparent heart attack at the age of 51. Galdolfini was most well known for his lead role in The Sopranos, and he just finished filming a show called Criminal Justice for HBO that was picked up to series. No word yet on how that role will be handled. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his friends and family. He was brilliant as the one and only Tony Soprano and will be missed.]

Kyle’s Choice

wilfred620smallTonight, Wilfred is back for more of his crazy antics with a double-episode season premiere of…well, Wilfred. When the second season came to a close, Ryan’s girlfriend had been arrested for defrauding the start-up where she and Ryan worked; and Ryan hosted Jenna and Drew’s wedding at his home. In a shocking cliffhanger, Ryan discovered Wilfred in a drawing he’d made as a young boy—and the drawing was older than Wilfred himself.

So we are now back to the question of who or what is Wilfred and why can Ryan see/hear him? Last season, the show got a bit dark near the end. I hope we get back to the lighter, fun (and totally inappropriate) comedy and also get some answers as to what is really going on.

On tonight’s first episode, “Uncertainty,” Wilfred’s original owner is sought out. Then, in “Comfort,” Ryan befriends Wilfred’s enemy.

See the season premiere tonight on FX at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Hannibal, Hell’s Kitchen, Does Someone Have to Go?, The Hero, Burn Notice, Graceland, The Graham Norton Show, Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, & Race to the Scene.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/13/13

This has been quite a hectic week for me, and I really can’t wait for the weekend to arrive! It’s Father’s Day on Sunday, and I still haven’t even picked up a card or gift yet. Even with a lot less on TV right now, I have still somehow managed to get my TiVo up to 92% full! And tonight, we’ve got some more TV suggestions to help you fill up your own DVRs! 🙂

Kyle’s Choice #1

racetothescenesmallLast week, Reelz kicked off a new reality competition series called Race to the Scene. Each episode finds three teams of two contestants racing to get through a series of tasks based on famous scenes from blockbuster films. Last week, the contestants had to dress up like Forrest Gump and run, Forrest, run through an obstacle course while wearing leg braces. Once through, they had to eat a box of chocolates until they found the specially filled one. Afterwards, they had to complete tasks based on scenes from Independence Day.

Dolph Lundgren is such a fun host—he dresses up and does his own impressions of the characters from the films while also playfully taunting the contestants as they struggle to get through their tasks. Who knew he was so funny?! I’m interested to see what other movies they take on—and what other impressions Dolph has in his repertoire.

On tonight’s episode, scenes from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Rush Hour” are featured.

To see if this show is a lot of fun for you, tune in to Reelz at 9/8c.
