If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/7/13

It’s Monday, which means the start of a new week of work and school, but it also means some great TV, which we’re happy to share with you. So check out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😉

Jenny’s Choice

castle17smallI’m SO happy Castle is back. The last episode was the Christmas one, and it was really cute. The case was really good, throwing us off with several suspects before we learned it was his ex-wife that killed him. There were some terrific Caskett moments, including the sweet kiss at the end, as well as the great family stuff with Martha, Alexis, & Castle. I really loved it.

On tonight’s episode, “Significant Others,” when a powerful divorce attorney who only represented women is murdered, Castle and Beckett are confronted with a plethora of angry ex-husbands, any one of whom could be the murderer. Meanwhile, Castle’s ex-wife (Darby Stanchfield, Scandal), Meredith, moves into the loft to take care of Alexis while she recovers from mono, and to make matters worse, Beckett is also forced to move in while her apartment is being fumigated, causing tension, humor, and more than a little awkwardness. Jack Wagner (Melrose Place) guest stars as a pro golfer whose career went down in flames after a nasty divorce, and Nancy Lee Grahn (General Hospital) guests as a wealthy divorcee caught in a “War of the Roses”-like struggle with her ex-husband.

Don’t miss the fun drama tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Bachelor, Next Great Baker, & Diners, Drive-ins & Dives.

Interview with Jordana Spiro & Josh Berman from The Mob Doctor

The Mob Doctor is one of the hottest new shows of fall, and recently, the star, Jordana Spiro (Grace Devlin), and the co-creator, Josh Berman, took some time to speak with us about the show, the characters, and anything else that was thrown their way.

On why it’s important to film in Chicago

Josh Berman: I think there’s two reasons for me. It was a personal reason and a professional reason. Professionally, when you’re on a network show, and you have a studio that says you can shoot anywhere you want, and you’re writing a show about the mob…there’s no better city than Chicago. Since post-9/11, resources have gone away from organized crime and into fighting terrorism, and there’s a whole new face on the mob and being able to place it in Chicago with such historical roots made the most sense.

Personally, it’s a real pleasure because my family comes from Chicago. My grandmother was a Holocaust survivor, and she ended up in Chicago, as well as five of her cousins, the only people that survived. They established [a department store], and for them, my family, Chicago represented the American Dream. So, it’s a real great return for me.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/17/12

I love the fall temperatures we’ve been having here. It’s such a nice change from the hot, sweaty temperatures from just a few weeks ago. Fall means changing leaves, shorter days, and of course, new TV, so let’s take a look.

Megan’s Choice

Tonight is the series premiere of The Mob Doctor with Jordan Spiro as Dr. Grace Devlin. Grace has to decide where her loyalties lie throughout this series and when it’s ok for her to bend the rules. She’s operating with a no-holds barred kind of attitude one moment, and the next, she’s treating gangsters in abandoned garages—it’s a tough life, but Grace is fierce. I have seen the pilot of this show, and I am telling you, you do NOT want to miss it!

On tonight’s series premiere, “Pilot,” a surgeon is beholden to the Chicago Mafia when she pays off her brother’s gambling debts in this drama, which begins with a dangerous dilemma for Dr. Grace Devlin after a crime boss orders her to kill a patient, who happens to have mob ties.

To see how her morals steer her, tune in to FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mob Boss @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Voice, Revolution, and Bones.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on FOX & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC & NBC. Now check out the same for the new FOX shows!

Link to Ben & Kate on FOX.com.

Jenny’s Thoughts: I have to admit, when I first started watching the trailer, I wasn’t at all sure I’d enjoy it. I’m not always a big fan of guys like the Ben character, who are irresponsible and just don’t seem very smart or adult. But through the end, I grew to really love it, and now I’m hopeful that it’ll be cute enough to hold my interest and not just irritate me. – Curious
Megan’s Thoughts: I was laughing so hard at this trailer. The relationship between Ben and Kate is awesome, and we all have that one family member that we love regardless of how crazy they are. This looks like a really fun, quirky new comedy. – Excited
Kyle’s Thoughts: This trailer had me laughing out loud. I like that the main characters are a brother & sister who seem to get along great. The show looks like it will be a lot of fun, with elements of a romantic comedy. – Excited
