If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/11/14

We are only a week away from Easter weekend, and I am looking forward to a long weekend, as well as some chocolate, because let’s face… It chocolate is always exciting. Unfortunately, that’s next week, so let’s take a look at what we’re recommending on TV tonight to keep my mind off (lack of) the chocolate.

kitchennightmaressmallI am very excited that tonight is the season premiere of Kitchen Nightmares, meaning we get a double dose of Gordon Ramsay in one week, which is never a bad thing in my opinion. It’s not just my love of Ramsay that causes me to tune in to this show, though. It’s the fact that I love watching failing restaurants get a chance to turn things around. There may also be the fact that I enjoy giggling at the plain stupidity some of these owners and kitchen staff show us time and time again. I mean honestly, you’d think I’d be sick of it by now, but I simply can’t get enough of all of it. If I know Ramsay, then this season is going to be just as interesting and amusing as all the rest.

On tonight’s 2-hour episode, “Return to Amy’s Baking Company/Pantaleone’s,” first, Chef Ramsay revisits Amy’s Baking Company to find out how the business has fared since the media firestorm that occurred a year ago, and then he tries to convince a restaurant owner that he no longer serves the best pizza in Denver.

To see what Amy’s has been up to and if he can help another restaurant owner, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching Unforgettable, Hawaii Five-0, Blue Bloods, and Grimm.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/21/14

I am so excited that my dad arrives tomorrow from British Columbia for a week-long visit. I haven’t seen him in almost two years! It’s going to be fun showing him around the new area where I live and him getting to spend time with all the grandkids. While I am on edge with pure excitement, let’s see what’s on television tonight.

hartofdixie321smallHart of Dixie returns tonight on a new night from hiatus, and I’m hoping that it can be a refresher for the series as a whole. I really loved this show from the beginning, but this season, it’s just been lacking a lot of that delicious romantic tension and character growth that Bluebell is usually overflowing with. Joel is a wet blanket for the whole show because not only does his relationship with Zoe lack some real chemistry, but it’s just not believable. When we left the show before hiatus, even Wade’s dad, Crazy Earl, could see that Zoe and Wade were meant to be together and that Joel is more like a brother than a boyfriend for Zoe. My only hope is that everyone can come to find some connections in their relationships, because as it stands now, there is no real connections going on at all.

On tonight’s episode, “Here You Come Again,” Zoe becomes her mother’s client; Brick eagerly anticipates Lemon’s return, but an obstacle delays her trip back; Magnolia gets help from George.

To see if life in Bluebell can finally start getting back to normal, tune in to The CW Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Grimm, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Helix, Hannibal, and Say Yes to the Dress.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/24/14

Thank God it’s Friday. It’s been a long week, so I’m more than ready for the weekend. To start that off, there’s a great night of television, so check out our recommendations. 🙂

grimm124smallGrimm was great last week. A female soldier was raped overseas by some men from a private military contractor. She suddenly showed up in their lives years later, and then suddenly, the men started turning up dead. It was one of the coolest Wesen’s we’ve seen, in my opinion, kind of a lion/scorpion hybrid thing. In the end, it turned out the woman’s commanding officer was dying and decided that he was going out on a high note and making up for not being able to protect her by killing the men who’d assaulted her. Then he put himself in the line of fire with the last man, who killed him just as Nick and Hank came in. On a much more fun note, Rosalee went to visit her mom for the first time in a long time, and she took Monroe with her. It was pretty awkward, given that her relationships with her mom and sister are very strained, but it was cute, too—especially when she started to ring the doorbell, but hesitated, and Monroe physically took her finger and helped her push it.

On tonight’s episode, “The Wild Hunt,” Nick and Hank investigate a cop killer who scalps his victims. Meanwhile, Juliette begins to communicate with Nick’s mom via email and Adalind finds herself much closer to delivering her baby than she previously thought. Elsewhere, Monroe’s parents (guest stars Dee Wallace and Chris Mulkey) decide to surprise him and Rosalee with an early arrival to Portland after learning some exciting news.

Find out how the other “meet the parents” goes tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Bones, Last Man Standing, The Neighbors, Enlisted, & Raising Hope.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/13/13

Yesterday, my fiance went into the woods and got us a beautiful Christmas tree—there are definitely advantages to owning land and planting trees. It’s beautiful, and I love the way it makes my house smell like the forest. Now, while I sit here watching TV and enjoying my holiday cheer, let’s see what’s on tonight.

hawaiifiveo1213smallIt’s time for my Friday night date with my TV boyfriend, Alex. Hawaii Five-0 has become my reward on a Friday night after a long week, and what a delicious reward it is. Last episode, we watched as the team had to help make the island safe for the visit of the President, which of course they did with ease because they are just that awesome. We also met Steve’s Aunt Deb (played by the incomparable Carroll Burnett), who surprised the family with a visit. Unfortunately, we found out later that she really came because she has brain cancer and needs to say her goodbyes—it was a bittersweet episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Ho’onani Makuakane,” an attempted murder leads the team to investigate a deadly crime committed in Hawaii during World War II.

To see what the team uncovers about the past, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/6/13

We got our first snow of the season on Wednesday night, although it was pretty much gone by Thursday morning. Just a light dusting. Still, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Yay! 😉 On the TV front, there’s some fantastic stuff on tonight—Friday’s become one of my favorite nights for TV. So Megan & I are here to give you our recommendations. 🙂

bones126smallThe last episode of Bones was…really, disgustingly disturbing. Human flesh, meat, and body parts were found in a school’s lunch. *gag* My school lunches were bad, but they were never THAT bad! LOL In the end, it came down to the owner of the company who sold the cans of stew meat, etc, wanting to cut costs and going with a company in Mexico or someplace…that then didn’t even use beef. They sold horse meat. That’s just…nasty. No thank you. At all. Hart Hanson & Stephen Nathan finally found a case that nearly made me throw up. LOL

On tonight’s episode, “The Spark in the Park,” the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a nationally ranked gymnast, whose remains were hit by lightning and scattered throughout a public park. Although evidence points to a fellow gymnast (guest star U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist McKayla Maroney) as the key suspect, Brennan and Booth discover the victim was leading a double life. Meanwhile, Booth gets upset when Brennan shows surprising empathy for the victim’s father (guest star Richard Schiff, The West Wing), and Cam confronts the woman who stole her identity.

Find out what kind of double life the victim was leading tonight on FOX at 8/7c.
