If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/2/13

It’s a rather slow week for new TV, which is a good and bad thing for me. I have 37% free space on my DVR…but I’m watching as much as I can. Several of those things are entire seasons (Continuum, Justified, The Americans, The Bible, & Vikings) not to mention a handful of episodes of a few shows, as well… Still, there’s a few good shows on tonight, so we’re here to give you our top picks for the night. 😀

Jenny’s Choice #1

thenewnormal42asmallI have really enjoyed The New Normal since it premiered in September. I absolutely love the relationship between David & Bryan and Goldie & Shania. David & Bryan genuinely care about Goldie & Shania, even apart from the fact that she is carrying their son. I hated Clay at the beginning, but now…I guess I can’t help but like him. He really seems to be changing for the better and really trying for Shania especially. I hated that he came on and stayed, but now, I don’t think it is such a bad thing that he’s there. Tonight is two new episodes, which includes the season finale. Things don’t look great for renewal, but surprises have happened, so I’m not counting it out before we hear for certain. All season has been leading to Bryan & David’s wedding and the arrival of their baby. Will we get both tonight?

thenewnormal42bsmallOn tonight’s first episode, “Finding Name-O,” Bryan & David are facing the hardest decision of their relationship, what to name their baby. The conflict prompts Goldie to reveal the origin of Shania’s name leading to brief identity crises for both of them. Later, while breezing through their wedding planning, David suggests that Bryan invite his mother Colleen (guest star Mary Kay Place), but her added opinion leads to more conflict and an unusual resolution. Meanwhile, Clay decides it’s time to let Goldie know how he feels, after receiving some unsolicited advice from Brice (guest star John Stamos).

Then on the second episode, “The Big Day,” the wedding is finally here, and despite all of the challenges that pop up throughout the day, Bryan and David are dead set on getting married before the arrival of their baby, but their son has other plans.

Don’t miss the last two episodes of the season tonight on NBC at 9:01/8:01c & 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of The New Normal @ TV.com.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/18/12

Today is an exciting day in my house—for my kid, at least. Today is their first “uniform” day for NJROTC, which means he got to wear his new shirt, pants, shoes, belt (with the shiny brass buckle!), and hat to school. LOL As for me, I’m excited because it’s another great night of TV. You know we all have an opinion on what we think is worth watching, (mine’s best. 😉 just sayin’… *grin*), so check it out now!

Last week’s premiere of The New Normal stole my heart from the very first second. How heartwarming and adorable was Bryan as he recorded the video message to their baby? Seriously, the way his eyes reddened and teared up made me want to cry with him. I watched that part like three times. I loved the introduction we got to all the characters. Then in the second episode, the show kept me hooked. I laughed, wanted to cry, and just thoroughly loved every minute of it. It was so much…more than I’d anticipated. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but I did. Even more than that, I loved it. I have a feeling that if it sticks around, it’ll be one of my favorite new comedies in a long time.

On tonight’s episode, “Do You Have That in Size Newborn?” Bryan ignores David’s advice and goes overboard buying baby clothes. When they try to return them, they are met with a challenge. Elsewhere, Shania wears one of the baby outfits to school and makes a new friend, which lands Goldie in an awkward parent-teacher moment.

Please don’t miss the chance to fall in love with this show like I did. Watch it tonight on NBC at 9:30/8:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The New Normal @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’m also going to be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance, 19 Kids & Counting, Counting Cars, Sons of Anarchy, Abby & Brittany, & Covert Affairs.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/10/12

It’s Sunday night as I write this up, and I feel like dried spit. (I told that to a couple of friends online, and they were confused. Have you never heard that phrase either? Maybe it’s a regional thing. LOL Basically it means I feel terrible—tired, just generally crappy, but nothing specific. *shrug* But I’m happy because there’s tons of great TV on Monday night, and we have just a few choices for our picks for what we think you should be watching. 🙂

Last week’s Warehouse 13 was one of the best of the season. So much happened… Claudia found out about the secret Steve’s been keeping. Artie saw something similar to his vision of an evil-eyed Claudia about to kill him nearly come to fruition when Brother Adrian sent Alice’s containment mirror out into the world with the instructions to find and kill the most important people in Artie’s life—specifically his girlfriend, Dr. Vanessa Calder, who he was about to ask if they could take things to the next level. This time, Alice had learned how to jump bodies, which came in very handy as she took over Claudia’s body and then Vanessa’s after making her way through civilians to get to the Warehouse gang. Artie realized how dangerous it was for Vanessa to be with him, so he broke up with her. (Reminded me of Twilight… LOL) Vanessa didn’t take that well at all and promised him that she wasn’t giving up that easily. Leena overheard Artie yelling to the phantom Brother Adrian about the astrolabe, so she is getting closer and closer to learning the truth.

It was a great episode. We don’t normally get to see the whole team working together, but I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see where they go from here now that most of the secrets are out.

On tonight’s episode, “Endless Wonder,” Pete and Myka investigate an artifact that causes people to stretch…to death! Danielle Nicolet guest stars.

Don’t miss it tonight on Syfy at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Warehouse 13 @ Clicker.

Trailers for New Fall Shows on NBC & Our Thoughts

You saw all the trailers and our thoughts on the new shows for ABC. Now check out the same for the new NBC shows!

Link to Revolution on NBC.com.

Jenny’s Thoughts: I love the premise of this (like one of my other favorite shows ever, Jericho), and the cast is fantastic. Plus, it’s from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, so it’s got a brilliant backbone to it. Here’s hoping it’s a hit! – Excited
Megan’s Thoughts: I am getting a little sick of the “end of the world”-type shows that pull me in and then disappoint. However, it is from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke – and I admit that I was drawn in by the fight scenes, so I’m intrigued, for sure. – Curious
Kyle’s Thoughts: This looks awesome – action, adventure, mystery! It’s like Jericho meets The Event meets Terra Nova and a lot of other epic series. I just hope it doesn’t go the route of those other shows. But I hope J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke have another big hit on their hands! – Excited
