ncisla925smallToday is my favorite day of the entire TV season. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration…but only slight! Tonight is the 2-hour season premiere of NCIS: LA, and it promises to be a good one! The LA branch of NCIS has been looking for a mole in the organization for a while now, and tonight it all comes to a head when higher-ups decide it’s time for someone else to be in charge and find the mole. How that will affect the team – and for how long – I don’t know. But something else that is affecting them is Daniela Ruah’s pregnancy. Kensi will be in every episode, but only because Daniela and (at least…) Eric (Deeks) filmed scenes in advance from each episode. Something huge happens with Kensi in this premiere, which keeps her out of the office/field for a while. I’m sure that means we’ll be seeing more of Nell in the field, partnered with Deeks, which should be a lot of fun. But it also means that this season should be an interesting one.

And don’t forget that because of football, Sunday shows on CBS tend to have erratic start times. CBS has tried to help by pushing everything back thirty minutes, which means shows will automatically start at 8:30/7:30c instead of 8/7c. But if you’re planning on recording NCIS: LA, Madam Secretary, or Elementary, I would make sure to record an hour or even two hours over, just to be sure you get it all. Trust me, I had to do that more than I’d like to remember the last few seasons!

On tonight’s two-hour premiere, “High-Value Target,” and “Belly of the Beast,” after NCIS fails to locate a mole in the department, Under Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst) insists on new leadership and takes over the Los Angeles unit from Hetty and Granger. Also, the team travels to Syria to apprehend a High Value Target, where one team member is severely injured when the mission goes awry.

See what happens when the office gets taken over and the team goes to Syria tonight on CBS at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, The Great Food Truck Race, Cooks vs Cons, & Quantico.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/7/14

We’re getting closer & closer to Christmas, and this week definitely shows it because there are a ton of finales on. But there are still quite a few new episodes, and Kyle & I are here to give you our recommendation on what to watch tonight.

Jenny’s Choice

thelibrarians127smallI couldn’t be more thrilled because tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of TNT’s The Librarian. Way back in 2004, Noah Wyle played Flynn Carsen, a perpetual student who earned 22 degrees before he was banned from taking more classes. He was quickly hired as a librarian, although rather than just checking out books, he began hunting down magical, mysterious “artifacts” and relics. TNT did three TV movies, the last airing in 2008, and now, it’s back, in TV show form instead of movie. Wyle is back as well, in his role of Flynn Carsen, although he’ll only be a recurring character, in addition to his new role of Executive Producer. Several others from the TV movies are returning as well: Bob Newhart & Jane Curtin.

The show centers on an ancient organization, hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library, dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. This group solves impossible mysteries, fights supernatural threats, and recovers powerful artifacts, including the Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Destiny, and Excalibur. The new cast includes Christian Kane (loved him on Leverage!), Rebecca Romijn (loved her on King & Maxwell!), Lindy Booth, & John Kim as the new “Librarians,” as well as John Larroquette in the role of their caretaker. Matt Frewer will be recurring.

thelibrarianssmallIf you were a fan of the TV movie trilogy or of Syfy’s Warehouse 13, I urge you to give this a shot. It looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun, and it has a great cast.

On tonight’s first episode, “And the Crown of King Arthur,” someone is killing off potential Librarians and it’s up to Flynn Carsen and his new Guardian, Colonel Eve Baird, to save the three that are left. Then on “And the Sword in the Stone,” the Serpent Brotherhood is trying to return magic to our world. Flynn, Colonel Baird, and the potential Librarians must stop them before it’s too late.

Don’t miss the 2-hour premiere of the latest fun, hit drama tonight on TNT at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Holiday Baking Championship, The Mentalist, Cutthroat Kitchen, & CSI.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/9/14

I’m having a busy weekend—family in town and all that—but a good one. And it’ll end great, since there’s some good stuff on tonight. Megan’s busy with her family, so it’s just Kyle & me tonight, so check out what we’re recommending.

csi1026smallI wrote this up for two weeks ago, but because football ran over so late both that week and last, it didn’t air. So you get my lovely view again because I’m still recommending it. 😉 And I’ll continue to recommend it each week until it FINALLY airs. LOL

CSI is my pick for tonight because I do love it, and tonight looks like it’ll be a fun episode. The last new ep was great too—a chemistry teacher was killed accidentally when the killer—another teacher at the school and a mother to one of the students—was trying to kill a student. She was part of a group of Wiccans and hoped (believed?) that she could cast a spell using the other kid’s blood that would heal her son, who was very, very sick. It was an incredibly sad but a really great episode.

On tonight’s episode, “Girls Gone Wilder,” Morgan, Sidle, and Finlay try to relax at a forensics conference when a mass shooting occurs on site.

See the women go wild tonight on CBS at 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Holiday Baking Championship, Catch a Contractor, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/19/14

It’s an odd week here at TV Is My Pacifier. Megan’s grandmother died, so she’s taking at least today off. My thoughts and prayers are with Megan and her family. We love you, sweetie! Meanwhile, I’ve been driving myself nuts trying to get everything together to send the care packages to the two groups of soldiers some friends & I “adopted,” so I’m a little frazzled at the moment. Kyle’s gone several days to the Syfy deal for the press, but he wrote up Sunday’s pick, so check out what we’re recommending.

Jenny’s Choice

brooklyn991019smallI like having Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Sundays because it’s a fairly light day for me and it’s really nice to have something scripted, since almost everything else I watch on Sunday nights are reality-type shows. Last week was all about the Jimmy Jab Games, which showed the squad competing in weird events like eating REALLY old Chinese food, dressing up and trying to see how many people they could fool into not knowing who they were, and more. Jake admitted he still has feelings for Amy, even though he and Rosa both know he has to move on. We’ll see if he’s able to do that… I hope he’s not!

On tonight’s episode, “Halloween II,” the Peralta/Holt annual Halloween bet continues when Jake challenges the Captain that he can steal his watch before midnight. Meanwhile, Gina is upset that her dance team, Floorgasm, kicks her off the squad, and Terry confronts her about her bad attitude.

To see if Jake can best Captain Holt, tune in to FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, CSI, Halloween Wars, Catch a Contractor, Hungry Games, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/4/14

The weekend is going by way too fast for me. I swear, I have no idea where Saturday went. On a good note, it’s a great week for TV, and that starts tonight. Megan would’ve been here, but her poor dog tried to eat a porcupine, so she spent Saturday night at the vet’s, getting him de-quilled and sewn up. Poor thing. JJ’s busy with school and work, so it’s just Kyle and me here to give our recommendations. 🙂 (Oh, and Happy Star Wars Day. 😉 May the fourth be with you…)

Jenny’s Choice

americasbestcooksmallI’ve really been enjoying America’s Best Cook. It’s a cooking competition show, which you know I love, and one of the mentors if my favorite celebrity chef, Michael Symon. What’s not to love? Last week, Chef Ron Ben-Israel was the judge for the dessert with bacon episode. Ben, on Cat Cora’s Team South, cut his finger bad enough in the middle of the first challenge that he had to go to the hospital to get it stitched up. Therefore, when he came back in time for the Pressure Cooker, he was able to make a PB&J dish and pulled it off well enough to have the best dish in the Pressure Cooker round, so he stayed in the competition. Sheri and Phillip, both from Tyler Florence’s team, got sent to the Pressure Cooker, too. In the end, Phillip went home because his mousse was good, but the rest of the dish showed a lack of thought and planning and skill.

I’m excited about this episode because from the previews, Stephanie, on Team North, has it out with Chef Symon over cooking fish. She makes some comment about thinking Chef Symon’s never cooked a fish in his life, so she’s basically ignoring him… Ballsy move, and more than a little stupid. So we’ll see if she wises up or not!

On tonight’s episode, “Mentor Meltdown,” as each chef contestant continues in their quest for the title of America’s Best Cook, they are tasked with competing in a brunch challenge, one of the hottest food trends. Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian serves as a guest judge.

To find out who stays and who goes tonight, tune in to Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Dream Builders, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Food Court Wars, Signed Sealed Delivered, Believe, Cutthroat Kitchen, Hungry Investors, The Mentalist, & Salem.
