If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/14/14

So far, the finales this week have been taking a toll on everyone’s emotions around here, and I for one am nervous about tonight’s finales too. Let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice

criminalminds514smallCriminal Minds left us on a huge cliffhanger last week with both Reid and Morgan getting shot. I was on the edge of my seat yelling at my TV, when my fiancé pointed out that maybe because we were left on a huge cliffhanger last week, maybe we’d get more closure this week. Yes, sometimes he is quite wise. I am so nervous to see what happens because they just shot two of my favorite characters, so I don’t know what’s going to happen. Last week’s case was surrounding prostitutes who were getting murdered violently, and it was a very creepy atmosphere the whole episode. Let’s hope they solve the case this week, but also that all of our favorite characters make it through the finale.

On tonight’s season finale, “Demons,” one BAU member’s life is in danger while another member recalls an upsetting secret from the past.

To see what secret comes out, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago PD, Law & Order: SVU, Arrow, Modern Family, Suburgatory, The 100, Save My Bakery, and Kodiak.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/19/13

I have been spending a lot of time fishing lately, and I have learned a few interesting things about myself. It’s amazing how much we learn about ourselves when we push our comfort zone—unfortunately, how far I push my comfort zone, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to handle putting the bait on the hook myself… Worms feel icky. 🙂 Good thing I have someone who will do it for me, just like I help plan his television schedule! Speaking of schedules, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

americanbakingcompetitionsmallAt first, I was skeptical about whether or not CBS would be able to pull of a baking show, but with The American Baking Competition, they proved to me that they can! I have really been enjoying the level of challenges on this show, as well as Jeff Foxworthy’s hosting—he is actually quite funny. Last week’s cake challenges were tough, but I loved all the surprise cakes at the end, especially Kolette’s checkered cake. I now want to challenge myself to make an awesome checkered cake like that.

On tonight’s episode, “Breads,” the contestants must bake and present bread to the toughest judge of all—Paul Hollywood; one contestant add red-hots to her bread.

To see whose bread rises above the rest, tune in to CBS at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching MasterChef, Franklin & Bash, and Hot in Cleveland.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/5/12

Happy Hump Day! It’s a big day for me because I just watched the Bones season premiere (what can I say but fantastic and amazing?) and I get to talk to executive producers Hart Hanson & Stephen Nathan. Yay me! 😉 I’d like to welcome JJ to the Remote posts. He’s going to even up the group at two guys & two girls, which will be helpful once the new season starts. 🙂 So let’s get to it. Check out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😀

I’m sad because tonight is the season finale of the last two summer shows on TV Land: The Soul Man & The Exes. It’s been a great season for both. On The Soul Man, we were introduced this season to ex-R&B singer Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (played by Cedric the Entertainer), his wife Lolli (played by Niecy Nash), daughter Lyric, father Barton (played by Everwood’s John Beasley), and brother Stamps (played by What I Like About You’s Wesley Jonathan). The entire family is fantastic, and the chemistry is terrific. When Barton retired from preaching, Boyce retired from singing and took over as preacher at his father’s church. There’s been conflict between the two because Barton has been having a hard time letting go of the pulpit, but you can feel the love between not only them but the entire family. I’ve really enjoyed it and was thrilled when I learned it has been renewed for a second season.

In tonight’s episode, “Momma’s Home,” Barton’s ex-wife Della (played by the incomparable Loretta Devine) arrives in St. Louis while the town is experiencing a blackout; Boyce counsels Barton and Della, and things take an unexpected turn. Lolli begins to suspect that she is pregnant. Stamps realizes it is time for him to grow up.

See it tonight on TV Land at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Soul Man @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/20/12

It’s halfway through the week and I am watching Hell’s Kitchen while I write this up. So fun to watch Chef Ramsay blow his top at these surprisingly inept chefs. On another topic, MightyText is cool. I can use my computer to send text messages to phones. Very handy when I need to text my kid. LOL Ok, enough about me. Read on to find out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😀

Tonight is the series premiere of The Soul Man, and I’m excited because it looks really fun. From the creators of Hot in Cleveland, The Soul Man revolves around Cedric’s character, Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine, an R&B superstar-turned-minister who takes over as preacher of his father’s church. Niecy Nash (Reno 911) stars as the reverend’s wife, Lolli. The pilot also features John Beasley (Everwood) as his father, Wesley Jonathan (What I Like About You) as his younger brother, and Jazz Raycole (My Wife and Kids) as his daughter. The character of Reverend Boyce originated on a second season episode of Hot in Cleveland, in which Cedric guest-starred.

The cast looks fantastic, the previews have been funny, and it’s on TV Land, which has had some big hits for me in terms of original comedies. I’m really looking forward to this one.

On tonight’s episode, “Lost in the Move,” an R&B singer gets a calling to become a minister, so he gives up his superstar lifestyle and moves to St. Louis to become a preacher in his father’s church. The family soon notices that some of their possessions were lost in the move.

See the premiere tonight on TV Land at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Soul Man @ Clicker.
