Tonight, AMC’s The Walking Dead returns for its eighth season. Last season opened with the reveal that Negan had brutally murdered Abraham and Glenn. Our band of survivors was forced to cooperate and meet Negan’s demands or more of them would die. Negan also took Daryl, and later Eugene, as recruits for his Saviors. While Daryl managed to escape and return to Alexandria, Eugene seemed content in his new position. Meanwhile, Rick and his group secretly plotted to fight back, joining forces with some other communities that were also being oppressed and threatened by Negan. Maggie and Rosita worked on convincing the Hilltop to join them (which caused Gregory to defect to the Saviors), while Carol and Morgan befriended King Ezekiel, the tiger-loving leader of the Kingdom, and Rick made a deal with the garbage-dwelling Scavengers. However, when it came down for the showdown with Negan, the Scavengers double-crossed Rick and aided the Saviors. The Alexandrians managed to turn the tide of the battle, and Negan and his Saviors fled, but they were badly wounded and this was only the first battle is what promises to be a much bigger war.

Now that the gauntlet has been thrown, there’s no turning back for these three communities. How will they stave off Negan and the Saviors? Can they recruit others to also join their cause? While it seems like Eugene has turned against his friends, he did give Sasha the poison and had to know she was going to use it to attack Negan. Is he really a spy working in the enemy camp? It also seemed like Dwight might be willing to fight for Rick—could the two of them help to cause unrest in Negan’s army? Will Negan discover what Eugene did, and how will he react? Will we lose any more of our favorite characters this season? (I think that’s probably a given, but who?!)

While I liked Negan at first, I wish they’d just kill him already and move on to a new big villain. It seems kind of ridiculous that he treats his Saviors horribly, rules by fear, and they all hate him, and yet no one has even attempted to assassinate him in his sleep?!

On tonight’s premiere, “Mercy,” Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, have banded together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors.

To see if Rick and his group challenge Nathan tonight, tune in to AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Ten Days in the Valley, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Ghosted, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, Good Behavior, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and White Famous.

Tonight, the seventh season of AMC’s The Walking Dead comes to a close. In last week’s episode, Sasha had been captured by the Saviors and was given the choice to join Negan or die. While Eugene hoped that she would give in like he did, he offered her the poison pill he had created a few episodes back in case she wanted to take the quick way out. Meanwhile, in the Hilltop, Gregory contemplated killing Maggie while her back was turned but ultimately couldn’t bring himself to do it – in fact, despite all his talk, he’s never even killed a single walker. And elsewhere, Rick and his crew raided Oceanside, as peacefully as possible, getting the guns they need for the forthcoming battle. When the group returned to Alexandria, Rosita revealed that she had brought back Dwight with her and that he wanted to help Rick take out Negan.

Can Dwight really be trusted? Will Gregory reveal Rick’s plan to Negan when he visits the Sanctuary? Or will we finally see all of these various groups of survivors band together and make their move against the Saviors? It should be an exciting season finale, and I’m looking forward to seeing if Rick and the gang will finally avenge the deaths of Glenn, Abraham, and the others who were brutally murdered by Negan or else see what kind of dangerous predicament they will be left in for next season.

On tonight’s 90-minute finale, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” the stakes keep mounting higher and higher as different stories clash, while the group enacts an intricate plan.

See if Negan gets his comeuppance tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Match Game, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Making History, The Last Man on Earth, Into the Badlands, Big Little Lies, and Crashing.

Tonight, AMC’s The Walking Dead returns to kick off the second half of the show’s seventh season. Before the hiatus, Carl attempted to kill Negan but failed. Instead of just killing Carl, Negan decided to mentally torment him, and this continued when he brought him back to Alexandria and moved into Rick’s house. Spencer tried to sell out Rick, but Negan didn’t like his attitude and literally proved that Spencer had no guts. And when Negan discovered that someone in Alexandria was making bullets, he had innocent armory accountant Olivia killed as an example. This was the last straw for Rick, who finally manned up and headed to the Hilltop to try to join forces for an attack on Negan. Meanwhile, Richard, one of Ezekiel’s men in the Kingdom, tried to get Carol and Morgan to convince the king to make a move against the Saviors, and Daryl managed to escape from Negan’s compound.

It seems like we can expect some sort of all-out battle between the joined of Alexandria, the Hilltop & the Kingdom, and Negan and his Saviors, and I hope this comes quickly. I wasn’t really a fan of the first half of the season – I’m baffled as to why one of the Saviors doesn’t just kill Negan in his sleep. Even they don’t like him. He just rules out of fear. I really hope Rick can rally these groups together and they can bring a swift end to Negan – without losing any more of our favorite characters. It’ll be interesting to see how this three very different groups come together to go after a common enemy.

On tonight’s midseason premiere, “Rock in the Road,” Rick and the group are led to a new community, where they are introduced to its inhabitants and ruler; and a familiar face resurfaces.

To see who turns up, tune in to AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Simpsons, Son of Zorn, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Worst Cooks in America, Black Sails, and Homeland.

Tonight is the midseason finale of The Walking Dead. Last week Carl arrived at the Saviors’ hideout, and when he was discovered hiding in the supply van, he went out guns blazing, killing two of Negan’s men. While Negan is certainly going to make Carl pay for what he did, he appreciated the kid’s chutzpah and decided to torment him with some mind games rather than the branding iron. He made Carl remove the bandage over his missing eye and starting poking fun at him to try to get a rise out of Carl. He then took Carl back to Alexandria to see Rick, but Rick was out scavenging, so Negan decided to make himself at home while waiting for Rick to return. Meanwhile, Rosita pressured Eugene to make her a bullet, Michonne set up a road block to hijack a Savior supply truck, and Daryl received a mysterious note under his cell door telling him to “Go Now.”

I’m really excited for tonight’s finale, as I’m sure, as things usually go with this show, that we can expect that someone to be killed off and/or be left with some big cliffhanger. How will Rick react to Negan in his house, holding baby Judith? Will someone finally take a shot at eliminating Negan? Will we see the Carol and those in the Kingdom cross paths with Rick and the gang?

On tonight’s 86-minute fall finale, “Hearts Still Beating,” with members out scavenging for supplies, Negan’s unwelcome visit to Alexandria continues. With tensions high, things quickly spin out of control.

See how violent the fall finale gets tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Madam Secretary, The Simpsons, Son of Zorn, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, and Eyewitness.

thewalkingdead1030smallLast week’s The Walking Dead season premiere was quite divisive – it felt more like an installment of Saw with all the gruesome events that took place! The victim we saw getting killed at the end of last season turned out to be Abraham, whose last words were fittingly: “Suck…my…nuts.” However, after Daryl made a move on Negan shortly afterward, he retaliated not by attacking Daryl but rather by bashing in Glenn’s skull as well. In his dying words, Glenn cried out: “Maggie, I’ll find you.” But the night wasn’t over yet. Negan took Rick on an RV ride to make sure he understood he was the boss. And then he gave Rick a hatchet and told him to chop off Carl’s left arm or else someone else would die. Fortunately, Negan called this off before Rick was forced to mutilate his own son, but he did take Daryl with him as he left.

I’m really upset that Daryl got Glenn killed – I would have much rather have seen Daryl go, and he would have deserved it! I’m interested to see how the rest of the group reacts when they discover what happened and how the larger group will find a way to bounce back and come up with a plan for how to not only get away from Negan’s clutches but also eliminate him. I’m also curious to see how the show does in the ratings tonight – there seemed to be a huge outcry of fans saying they were done with the show after last week’s excessively gruesome and low-on-plot episode.

On tonight’s episode, “The Well,” following a number of familiar faces, the group’s introduced to a new well-established community that seems too good to be true.

To see how the group is recovering after the bloodbath last week, tune in to AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Strain, Westworld, Eyewitness, Quantico, Madam Secretary, and Worst Bakers in America.
