If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/26/11

As much as I don’t like to watch sports and hate how overruns mess up my Sunday nights, I have really appreciated the light DVR line-ups we’ve been having lately thanks to baseball! It has actually been quite easy to not only keep up with all the new episodes, but also catch up on my backlog (which included the first 5 episodes of Revenge, which I am now really enjoying, despite my initial negative opinions!) Enjoy another light night of TV, but still loaded with a lot of great new episodes!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight is the second season finale of Top Chef: Just Desserts. Last week, the chefs had to come up with something that looked like a common savory dish, but tasted like a dessert. Orlando’s paella dessert did not measure up, and he was sent packing. We are now down to the final three—Matthew, Chris, and Sally. I am really happy, because I like all 3 of them! Matthew and Sally have both won 4 challenges, while Chris is also a strong contender, but only has one win under his apron. Last week, Chris used pre-packaged puff pastry, and if he takes another short cut like that tonight, there is no way he will win. I’m looking forward to seeing what tasty treats the chefs cook up tonight!

In tonight’s finale, the final contestants battle it out in a grand treat heat inspired by a distinguished pastry competition—the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. The drama culminates with the selection of the winning chef.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/7/11

I *think* the site problems are behind us! Thank you all for being so patient. 🙂 To make it up to you, over the next week, we’ll have a bunch of giveaways to celebrate the beginning of the Fall season. Some great stuff, including more from USA Network, plus Glee and Modern Family, so keep on the lookout for them! Now, there’s eom great stuff on tonight, so check out what we think you should be watching!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Last week on Melissa & Joey, Joey Lawrence’s real life brothers Andy & Matthew guest starred. I don’t know about you, but I loved both of the episodes from last week. I loved how we got to see Joe’s feelings for Mel come into play again, as his jealousy unfolded. And then we saw Mel taking Lennox to buy her first (or so she thinks!) fake ID and her first concert. Seeing Ryder with Holly and her parents, too… Just all of it was fantastic. I love this show and am so happy we’re getting two more episodes tonight!

On tonight’s first episode, “Play Ball,” after her star player suffers an injury, Mel must find a replacement for the office softball team. She has Joe pretend to be the “office manager” so he can help lead their team to victory. However, Joe’s management skills are more than the office can handle. Meanwhile, Ryder butts heads with Lennox when he asks her to publish his girlfriend Holly’s story in the school blog.

Then on the second episode, “A House Divided,” Joe pays a visit to Mel’s neighbor, Arnie (John Ratzenberger, Cheers), and asks him to do something about his noisy parrot, but ends up finding Mel’s house has been built on part of the neighbor’s property. Joe and Mel must remain civil with the neighbor to gain the land back, however Mel finds being nice to her neighbor to be a little difficult. Meanwhile, Lennox stars in a PSA Ryder films for a school project.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/24/11

Tonight is better than last night for new TV, thank goodness! There’s tons of great stuff on, so our recommendations are plenty! Everyone wish Megan good luck with her move! She was a sweetie and sent me her recommendations for the rest of this week, and of course, Kyle, Lisa, and I are here. So what do we think you should watch tonight? Read on and find out!

Jenny’s Choice #1

Tonight, my first recommendation has to go to the new episode of Royal Pains. For the last few episodes, we’ve wondered when the chips will fall with Paige and her big secret, and tonight is the night. But before that, I just want to mention… I LOVE Kyle Howard (he was my favorite on My Boys), who guest starred as Dr. Paul Van Dyke, who works at the hospital and asked Divya out. His character was interesting and I love him, so I kind of hope he sticks around. (How awesome was it to see Autumn Reeser, from The OC & No Ordinary Family, last week, too?!) Anyway, there’s just so much great stuff going on right now with the show, between Boris & his illness & the car crash with Jill, Divya & her new doctor man, and Hank/Evan/Paige secrets, I can’t help but recommend it!

On tonight’s episode, Hank gets involvved in a case in which he attempts to treat a boy suffering from asthma. Paige is no longer able to hide her secret, and she must deal with the consquences when all is revealed. Divya accepts an offer to go on a date.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/10/10

Wednesday night is bone dry on ABC due to the CMAs, but that’s okay. There is still plenty to lay your peepers on, because the other networks have some great new episodes, and new seasons that are just starting tonight! Psych makes its triumphant return tonight for its midseason opener, and it’s a doozie. Check out our selections below and see what we think you should be watching Wednesday!

Lisa’s Choice

Get psyched up for the return of season five of this charming and incredibly funny show that I’m sure you know all the words to the theme song! Sean and Gus have kept us in suspense far too long, and we Psych-o’s have been jonesing for our fix! Tonight’s episode of Psych brings back Cary Elwes as Desperaux! Shawn and Gus visit Desperaux in a Vancouver prison, only to have Desperaux exit..stage left! See our favorite dynamic duo team up on Psych tonight on USA at 10/9c.
