Well, Sandy is unleashing her anger up here in Canada last night and today—power has been in and out, and I’m sure I just saw someone’s lawn chair go flying by my house. Should be an interesting clean up. I hope that everyone is staying safe and you still have power to read this post, as well as to watch some television. With all the stress from the storm, just let us guide your remote by taking our suggestions.

Megan’s Choice

The Mindy Project has quickly become one of my favorite comedies, mostly because I love Mindy’s habit of inappropriate rambling—may or may not remind me of someone I know. 😉 The way she stumbles into dates but always ends up tumbling into bed with the sexy doctor Jeremy… There are worse ways to live your life than that. Aside from all her frolicking and goofing around, Mindy is actually a very good doctor with a good heart—she just needs to focus a bit more.

On tonight’s episode, “Halloween,” Mindy frantically searches for the right Halloween costume to impress Josh when he invites her to a party; Danny and Jeremy take the test to get their driver’s licenses.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/25/12

Yesterday, the Comic-Con folks finally opened up application/registration for press. So I have been on a mad dash to gather validation materials in order to mail them out today. I’m really looking forward to Comic-Con again this year, and I can’t believe it’s less than three months away! I have already scheduled my flight, reserved my hotel, and paid for a badge, but I’ve love to qualify for press and get that badge money refunded. But enough about SDCC. Here’s what we suggest you check out on TV tonight.

Kyle’s Choice

I have already seen tonight’s two premiere episodes of the new Syfy channel game show, Total Blackout. This show is so much fun and is hosted by Jaleel White (Family Matters & Dancing with the Stars), who did a press Q&A last week. Each episode puts four contestants’ fears to the test as they are asked to identify items and perform tasks in total darkness. In the first round, the contests try to identify objects in tanks simply by touching them. However, in total darkness, even everyday objects become scream-worthy. The way their minds seem to picture the worst yields some pretty comical results! Other rounds have the contestants identifying objects by taste or smell, or trying to maneuver obstacle courses.

While I find this show hilarious to watch, I could never be a contestant. For the Syfy press kit, they sent a box to simulate the initial round’s challenge – you were supposed to reach in and try to identify the object. Even though I knew there would be nothing living in the box, I still freaked out – especially when touching the gummy frogs that were stuck to the bottom!

Tonight’s first episode, “Entering the Darkness,” seems like what a typical episode of the series will be like. However, the second episode of the night, “2 Heads are Blinder than 1,” features couples and was so hilarious, it made me wish every episode featured couples.
