If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/6/14

May is one of those months that sneaks up on you, and then when it’s here, it keeps you constantly busy! It has been so hectic around here in the last few days that I am very ready to chill out and watch some great television. Let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice #1

shield56smallMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming to the end of its first season tonight, and what a season it’s been. We have been brought along on a ride as Skye joined this team of agents, allowing herself to fall for Ward, only to find out in the last few episodes that he’s actually a double agent. I am still upset at the choice they made to make Ward a bad guy, when it’s obvious that he is a character that has been so loved by all of us. Last week, we watched as Skye finally let Ward know that she knew he was bad, and he still tried to convince her that he wasn’t that person, that they could love each other. We also watched as Maria came in and helped Coulson save Skye and then encouraged him to consider just selling out to the private sector. Coulson and his team aren’t giving up until all the Hydra members are caught. I’m excited to see where this heads, but also nervous that we’ll be left with a giant cliffhanger at the end of the night. Oh the nerves.

On tonight’s episode, “Ragtag,” Coulson and his team go undercover to infiltrate HYDRA; Ward’s troubled past is revealed.

To see if the team can survive this mess, tune in to ABC at 8/7c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/10/13

Happy Tuesday! I’m so excited because we’re one day closer to Christmas. I love having our tree and lights up. It makes it feel so festive in here. Before we give you our recommendations, I have to say that Kyle got me to watch Come Dine With Me on Lifetime, and that show has now become one of my favorites. It’s SO freakin’ funny. You guys have to check it out if you didn’t already. Now, here’s what we’re recommending for tonight!

Jenny’s Choice

trophywife1210smallI absolutely adore Trophy Wife. The cast is great, the stories are always funny, and I just love how the characters interact. Last week, Dennis Haysbert (The Unit) guest starred as a father of one of the students from Warren’s class. During a class trip, Kate decided to set him up with Diane so she’d maybe get the stick out of her…behind. 😉 What Kate didn’t know was Diane and Russ Bradley Morrison had been seeing each other for a while on the sly. She almost messed it up for them, but Diane manned up and told him in front of everyone that she liked him.

On tonight’s episode, “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” Pete, Kate, Diane and Jackie wake up Christmas morning hung-over and the house in complete disaster. They try to piece together the events of last night’s Christmas Eve festivities while also trying to save Christmas for the kids. Phyllis Smith (The Office) guest stars.

Find out what they did after a few too many drinks tonight on ABC at 9:31/8:31c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS, NCIS: LA (guest starring Andrew Leeds, from Bones in his first appearance here!), The Goldbergs, Chopped, Marshal Law: Texas, & Chicago Fire.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/3/13

The countdown has begun—not only to Christmas, but to the fall finales of all our favorites. Most shows are wrapping up this week (or have wrapped up already) for the year, not to return until January. There’s still a lot on, though, so I’ve got plenty to keep me company. Here’s what not only I recommend, but everyone else, as well. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

brooklyn99123smallThere were so many great new comedies this year, but one of my favorites has to be FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show’s Thanksgiving episode was cute. Amy wanted to host dinner for the entire squad, but it kind of turned out to be a disaster. She can’t cook (the description of using baking soda instead of salt was hysterical), so everyone ended up throwing the food into the toilet (thereby backing it up), including the whole turkey. *laugh* Meanwhile, Jake tried everything to get out of going, but when they did end up having dinner together at the precinct, even he had a good time. The only part I didn’t like was the stuff with Terry being so out of control about being hungry and having to EAT RIGHT THEN. It got old pretty quickly. The rest, though, was great. One of my favorite parts was Gina giving Capt. Holt a copy of Amy’s “speech,” hoping to embarrass her, but it turned out to be a good thing for Amy, and Gina admitted that it was good, even though that wasn’t what she wanted.

I really adore this show and I look forward to it each and every week. It’s kind of funny because we jump from the Thanksgiving episode from Nov. 26 to the Christmas episode tonight, Dec. 3. Fun! Unfortunately, that means this is the last episode for a month. Boo!

On tonight’s episode, “Christmas,” Captain Holt receives death threats and Jake is put in charge of his security, a job he enjoys and abuses as much as he can. Meanwhile, Amy attempts to get the precinct to take a Christmas photo for Holt, but a lack of enthusiasm and Rosa’s refusal to smile defeats her efforts. Also, Sergeant Terry Jeffords gets his mojo back.

See what lengths Jake will go to in order to keep Captain Holt safe tonight on FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife, Marshal Law: Texas, & Chicago Fire.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/8/13

I have been loving this TV season so far, especially a lot of the new shows. How amazing was Sleepy Hollow last night? Such a great show! Let’s see what tonight has to offer, because I bet it’s going to be more of the same fabulous stuff we’ve already been watching.

Megan’s Choice

brooklyn99108smallBrooklyn Nine-Nine has been so absolutely amusing from the very beginning. I adore this cast. Jake (Andy Samberg) is by far one of the funniest characters, but I love his interactions with the rest of the cast too. Jake interacting with the captain is probably my favorite moments of the show, because I love how serious the captain stays, even in the face of Jake’s hilarity. Last week’s episode about Jake’s slump was really funny, and the rabbit foot thing made me giggle.

On tonight’s episode, “M.E. Time,” Jake hits on a medical examiner at a crime scene; Amy’s purse-snatching case is stalled.

To see if Jake can get a date with a medical examiner, tune in to FOX at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching New Girl, NCIS, NCIS: LA, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Goldbergs, Person of Interest, The Voice, The Mindy Project, Supernatural, and The Originals.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/1/13

Welcome to October! Let’s hope this month is filled with beautiful fall days and lots of mini chocolate bars. I’m also looking forward to even more series and season premieres this month as well. Let’s see what’s on tonight to start this month off right.

Megan’s Choice

ncisla101smallNCIS: LA is by far my favorite of the franchise, and what a season premiere it had last week. I was on the edge of my seat watching to see if Deeks was going to be okay and if Sam could save his wife. In the end, everyone except the bad guys lived, but whether they’re okay is another story. Deeks has lasting effects from the torture, and I’m not sure he’ll ever be the same. I was really sad to see him be so distant from Kensi, but I hope it all works out soon.

On tonight’s episode, “Impact,” Hetty calls in psychologist Nate Getz (guest star Peter Cambor) to help Sam and Deeks deal with the effects of their traumatic experience.

To see if the boys can get back on track, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Voice, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, NCIS, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., New Girl, The Goldbergs, The Mindy Project, Trophy Wife, Lucky 7, and Person of Interest.
