If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/24/14

Yesterday, we went and ate at Burger Revolution, a restaurant that was featured on You Gotta Eat Here, and it was incredible. I honestly have never had a better burger in my life, so if you’re in Belleville, ON, anytime, you should check it our for sure. Now on to my biggest addiction—television and what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice

trueblood824smallIt’s the end of an era as True Blood comes to an end tonight with the series finale. Over the past seven seasons, we’ve fallen in love with vampires, werewolves, and even fairies. There’s been drama, sex, and humor. I don’t know about you, but while there have been a few bumps along the road for the series, overall it’s been so amazing. There will be a hole in our TV world without this show, yet I’m ready to see how it’s going to end.

On tonight’s episode, “Thank You,” Sookie weighs a future with and without Bill. Eric and Pam struggle with their uncomfortable partnership with Mr. Gus. Sam makes a choice, while Andy comes upon an unexpected inheritance.

Grab your tissues and tune in to HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Wipeout, Rachel vs Guy: Kids Cook-Off, The Great Food Truck Race, Cutthroat Kitchen, The Strain, Mountain Men, Teen Wolf, and Witches of East End.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/13/14

I have been loving this summer so far, and TV is no exception to that. It’s been a great summer season of television so far, so let’s see what we’re recommending tonight to keep you going.

Megan’s Choice

trueblood714smallTrue Blood has been rocking the boat left, right, and center since the beginning of this season. First we had the death of Tara, but last week, Alcide met his untimely death. Wow. I was actually shocked and a little upset because I’ll miss looking at him. Although I didn’t love his character and felt his story was played out, it doesn’t change the fact that I will miss him a little bit for sure. This season has taken a life of its own, and honestly, in order to survive, we’re all going to have to just hold on and enjoy the bumpy ride.

On tonight’s episode, “Death is not the End,” in the aftermath of yet another bloodbath, Sam, Sookie, and Jason find themselves the bearers of bad news in Bon Temps and beyond. Pam recalls the events that led her and Eric to Shreveport and Fangtasia. Bill and Jessica get nourishment from unexpected sources. Following a new lead, Sookie enlists a band of vampires and humans to track down the H-Vamps.

To see what crazy turns tonight holds, tune in to HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Witches of East End, Big Brother, Wipeout, The Strain, Guy’s Grocery Games, Cutthroat Kitchen, and The Leftovers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/29/14

It’s a big night for TV, which is good because that’s the perfect way to wrap up the weekend. So do what I plan to do: Grab your family, friends, pets, or just curl up on the couch with a blanket and the remote and relax while you check out the shows we’re recommending.

Jenny’s Choice #1

recklesssmallMy first pick tonight is the series premiere of Reckless. The show is set in Charleston, S.C., where a gorgeous Yankee litigator and a charming southern attorney must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex scandal threatens to tear the city apart. It stars Anna Wood, Cam Gigandet (who looks SO HOT in this, it pretty much renders me stupid), Shawn Hatosy, Adam Rodriguez, Georgina Haig, Kim Wayans, Gregory Harrison, and Michael Gladis.

I’ve seen the first couple of episodes, and I just gotta say it’s really great. It’s hot, sexy, frustrating, and more, with lots of twists that you don’t see coming. I’ve been waiting over a month for it to finally air, so I’m excited to see the first two episodes again so I can start with the new ones!

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” when defense attorney Jamie Sawyer is hired by disgraced cop Lee Anne Marcus in the wake of a sex scandal involving the local police department, she finds herself facing off against Roy Rayder, the newly appointed City Attorney.

See if you can survive the heat tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I don’t know about you, but summer is winding down in our house. My kiddo starts a week of band camp on Monday, and then school starts August 13th. He’s not happy about it, and I’m of mixed emotions. 😉 It’s been nice having him around, but I’ll kind of be glad for the peace & quiet! LOL But…that’s all in the future. For now, there’s some great stuff to watch on TV tonight, and I’m taking advantage of it. Check out our recommendations so you can relax and enjoy the evening too!

unforgettable728smallI really enjoyed Unforgettable when it was on last season, and I was disappointed when it came *this* close to be canceled. Fortunately, CBS decided to keep it, although it’s undergone a pretty big change. Most of the cast was let go, which means there’s obviously going to be some shift in jobs for Carrie and Al. And will they rekindle their romance? I’m hoping so! Fortunately, TPTB decided to keep Jane Curtin as the ME. I loved her on here. She had a great chemistry with Carrie and was just fun to watch. The newcomers to the show are Dallas Roberts (The Good Wife, The Walking Dead), who plays the Head of the NYPD’s Major Crimes Section, and Tawny Cypress (Heroes), & James Hiroyuki Liao (who was in 7 episodes of Prison Break).

On tonight’s episode, “Bigtime,” Carrie’s and Al’s reputations for closing cases results in an offer to join the Major Crimes Section of the NYPD. But when their first case—a high-profile child kidnapping—hits close to home for Carrie, it leaves her wondering if a move from Queens to Manhattan is what’s best for her. Andrew McCarthy guest stars.

Find out if the show has the same great feel to it this season, if not better, tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Court Wars, Food Network Star, Whodunnit?, Brother vs Brother, & Crossing Lines.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/7/13

The first week of summer vacation is behind us, and so far, no one has killed each other, so that’s a plus! This next week is going to be filled with lots of trips to the park, the lake, and of course, sun block galore…so before I start this week of insanity, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

whodunnitsmallI have actually been enjoying Whodunnit?, because while it’s not exactly the best acting or contestants, I find the mysteries to be intriguing. The part where they have to examine the body in the morgue is quite realistic, which would probably be a little too intense for me personally. Last week, we watched Adrianna get a card saying she was in danger, which was fine with me, because that woman was incredibly annoying. At the end, we watched her try to escape from the house on a golf cart, which exploded, “killing” her.

On tonight’s episode, “Kaboom,” as the 10 remaining guests attempt to solve the latest murder, suspicion and tension among them leads to more alliances and backstabbing.

To watch and see the contestants start to crumble, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching True Blood, Ray Donovan, and Food Court Wars.
