If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/15/12

We’re exactly one week away from Thanksgiving—and the official start of the holiday shopping season! I can’t believe Christmas is less than six weeks away. I’m already starting to plot out my Black Friday shopping strategy! Speaking of strategy, read on to find out how we suggest you tackle tonight’s packed TV line-up.

After a rough start to the season, I’m now back on board with Grey’s Anatomy. Last week, Christina helped Dr. Thomas with his surgery, while he coached her on how to become more calm and relaxed. However, in the middle of the surgery, Dr. Thomas dropped dead, leaving Christina to finish things on her own. Meanwhile, in Seattle, Meredith pulled a woman from underneath a car and made it her mission to see her safely through surgery. At the end of the episode, Christina showed up on Meredith’s doorstep.

I loved how last week’s episode played with the split screen—giving us a fun side-by-side comparison between Meredith’s and Christina’s lives and surgical environments. I was so sad to see William Daniels’ guest-starring role come to an untimely end. He will forever be the voice of K.I.T.T. to me, but I thought his character’s relationship with Christina was great, and I’ll miss that fun banter. I’m hoping that Christina’s presence in Seattle last week means she will be returning for good—it will be nice to see the gang back together again.

On tonight’s episode, “Second Opinion,” the crash victims proceed with their lawsuit, which requires them to face their injuries. Meanwhile, Bailey sneakily gets Arizona to assist with a pediatric case; and Cristina works on adjusting to her new surroundings.

See the drama tonight on ABC at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Grey’s Anatomy @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Last Resort, Grey’s Anatomy, 30 Rock, Up All Night, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Glee, The League, Sweet Genius, Reality Show, and Childrens Hospital.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/11/12

So the question has been answered, and badda boom, the jury is OUT—the first canceled show of the season is Made in Jersey, which is being replaced with Undercover Boss. As for tonight’s TV, I’m glad there’s the VP Debate cutting down the number of new shows because I already have a backlog from earlier in the week. That said, there’s still plenty of new stuff on tonight for those who are all caught up, so check out our recommendations.

I’m excited for the return of The League tonight. I’m not a sports fan, but I find this show about a group of friends stressing and fighting over their fantasy football league hilarious. The cast is so much fun, and they all have great chemistry, which makes their use of improvisation seem so natural. Paul Scheer and Nick Kroll are always amazing and will do anything and everything for a laugh. When we left the gang last season, Jenny had just found out she was pregnant, Pete had accidentally branded the words “Sacko” on his lower back, and Ruxin had set the Shiva and Sacko trophies on fire and set them out to sea, declaring the season null and void. I’m looking forward to another season of crazy antics, insults, and politically-incorrect humor, and I hope we also get some more of those totally inappropriate Taco songs!

On tonight’s episode, “Training Camp,” preparations are made for the arrival of Kevin and Jenny’s baby. Meanwhile, Taco scores an invite to the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp.

See what hijinks the gang gets up to tonight on FX at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of The League @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Last Resort, 30 Rock, Up All Night, The X Factor, and The Greatest Event in Television History.

Last week on Community, the pillow and blanket war continued to wage with Abed and his followers versus Troy and his followers. The campus was consumed by the battle, and even Jeff’s attempts at mediation proved to be futile. Annie took care of the injured, while Britta photographed the casualties and the event for posterity. In the end, peace reigned over Greendale, and Troy and Abed were once again friends.

Tonight, on “Origins of Vampire Mythology,” Britta asks her friends for some help in order to keep her away from visiting an ex. Dean Laybourne (guest star John Goodman) enlists Dean Pelton in his quest to have Troy join the Air Conditioning Repair Annex.

Catch the laughs at 8/7c on NBC! Learn where to find episodes online of Community @ Clicker.

Tonight, I am also watching 30 Rock, The Office, The Big Bang Theory, Awake, Punk’d, and The Pauly D Project.

The Parks Department on Parks and Recreation left off with trying to give Jerry a surprise birthday celebration. That, and Leslie had of course undertaken far too many tasks while also trying to work her campaign. The two clashed, which left Jerry’s birthday party in shambles and Leslie realzing that maybe she did indeed need to take a short sabatacle from the Parks Department. Tom tried way too hard to impress Ann, and it made Tom realize how many “No Nos” that Ann crosses off on his list of things women do that he can’t stand. Both Ann and Tom drove April nuts, going back and forth trying to get her opinion on the other, which led April to drown herself in a little bit of booze. With Leslie taking a leave of absence, how will the Parks Department survive without her?

On tonight’s new episode, “Campaign Shake-up,” Leslie’s opponent, Bobby Newport, hires a very powerful campaign manager (guest star Kathryn Hahn). Meanwhile, Ron is forced to interview replacements for Leslie, and an unlikely employee discovers a soclution to a very challenging problem.

Get ready for fits of giggling at 8:30/7:30c on NBC! Learn where to find episodes online of Parks and Recreation @ Clicker.

I am also watching 30 Rock and Project Runway Allstars tonight!

Interview with Jason Lee from Up All Night

Jason Lee (Memphis Beat, My Name is Earl) recently spoke to the press about his upcoming guest starring role on NBC’s Up All Night. He talked about working with Maya & the rest of the cast, his role compared to his previous ones, and what he thinks makes for good comedy, so check it out!

On how his character meets Ava & who he got to work with on the show

Jason: Well, I think it’s just – it’s a – you know, it’s a reflection of, ultimately, who she is. I think Eva is very likable, sweet, innocent, you know, and she brings out – he brings that out in her. And I like that she’s not afraid to be that way around this guy that – you know. She’s still very kind of smart-assy and jokey and – when they’re around other people and whatnot, and it’s all fun and endearing. But, yes, I think it brings out a cool side of her, and it certainly allows me to kind of do something a little different which is very cool — kind of play it a little straighter and be a little bit more, I guess you could say, leading man – whatever the term is – or just kind of “the guy,” you know, which I’ve never – I never really do, coming from Earl and things like that.

So far. I’ve done three episodes so far which is really cool and gotten to play with everybody, you know, which is great — mainly with Maya, but some with Will and some with Christina so far. And everybody’s amazing.
