If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/16/12

I’m so sorry this is up so late compared to when it normally goes up. I can only claim exhaustion, as I went to bed at like 10:00 last night and was too tired to write up the top part & my part before then. Oops. 🙂 But I’m caught up on sleep for the moment and ready for a new week of great TV. So for tonight, here’s what we think you should be watching. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice

Tonight is a double episode of Leverage, finishing with the summer finale. It’s been a pretty good season so far. I like that we got a hint at the beginning that Nate had something going on in secret that no one else but Hardison knows about, but it hasn’t taken over the entire season. Each episode has been what I love to see: the team helping an individual with a problem. I think my favorite episode, though, was last week’s, when Parker was laid up with a bum knee while the rest of the crew went overseas to do…something. LOL Parker figuring everything out on her own about what she first thought was a gang of thieves set to rob the jewelry store across the street but then later having to rescue her waitress from the bar—who by the end of the episode had turned into a friend—was fantastic, and I loved how we saw her figure out each little problem with the customers in the bar and do her best to fix them. I adored everything about that episode. I don’t know when Leverage will return with the rest of the season, but I know I’m going to miss it. 🙁

On tonight’s first episode, “The Rundown Job,” the members of the team are recruited by Colonel Vance in order to quickly find a way to stop a highly-dangerous and elusive terrorist before he manages to unleash a deadly biological attack on the nation’s capital.

Then on “The Frame-Up Job,” a valuable painting is stolen and Sophie is believed to have been involved in the intricate heist to attain it, so Nate decides to use everything within hi power during an investigation in order to find the true culprit behind the crime.

Don’t miss them tonight on TNT at 9/8c & 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Leverage @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great Food Truck Race, Iron Chef America, All American Handyman, One Car Too Far, & Copper.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/26/11

Take a deep breath in and out. Again. Don’t panic. Yes, there are a lot of shows on, but you can handle it. Your DVR may implode, but you’ll be fine. *laugh* It’s seriously crazy, I know! But I am so damn glad we’ve got all this great TV on! What new shows have you watched? Which have you enjoyed so far? One new series I really enjoyed was Poppy Montgomery’s Unforgettable. But there are a lot I really liked and can’t wait to see more of, so… Let’s see what’s on this week to make us happy, huh? – Jenny

Team Choice

There is one show that Megan, Kyle, and I all wanted to recommend, and rather than splitting it up into 3 separate choices, we decided to combine it. FOX’s Terra Nova looks like it’ll be one of the most exciting shows on network television in a while. From FOX: “Terra Nova follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149, the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped and overcrowded, with the majority of plant and animal life extinct. The future of mankind is in jeopardy, and its only hope for survival is in the distant past. The series centers on the Shannon family as they join the Tenth Pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first colony established in this beautiful yet foreboding land. The show stars Jason O’Mara (Life on Mars), Stephen Lang (Avatar), and Christine Adams (TRON: Legacy), along with Shelley Conn (Mistresses), Landon Liboiron (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Allison Miller (Kings), Naomi Scott (Life Bites), Alana Mansour. Read on to find out why we think you should watch.

Jenny: Dinosaurs! Beautiful scenery! Interesting storylines! Seriously, the show seems to have it all. I love a show that can combine elements of every genre, from science fiction/fantasy, to drama, to comedy. The show was shot in Australia, so you know before you even see it that the setting is going to be gorgeous. The promos have been interesting, letting us know that this new world is not the Utopia you would think. Be sure and check out our Jason O’Mara interview for more!

Megan: I just had to suggest Terra Nova, even though Kyle and Jenny are both also suggesting it. You can’t have too much of a good thing, and Terra Nova is a really good thing. I loved the pilot. It was seriously epic. The show isn’t just about dinosaurs, or adventure; it’s about family and struggles. There’s nothing more heartbreaking than being a parent, and watching the sacrifices these parents have to make for their children to survive is moving. That said, it’s not all drama. There’s a touch of humour and lots of adventure. You’d be a fool to miss out on this new, and sure to be hit drama.

Kyle: Tonight’s Terra Nova premiere is feature film quality, giving us some excellent Jurassic Park style Dino action and an interesting premise. I could also see some influences from some of my favorite TV shows, such as Stargate and the third season of Lost. The premiere also sets up some great story arcs and mysteries that I can’t wait to see explored.

Do not miss the 2-hour series premiere tonight on FOX at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Terra Nova @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/12/11

Tonight is PACKED FULL of new episodes. Including all the late night TV, but not counting double episodes, there are 42 shows on. Eek. We’ve tried to narrow that down to what we think you should watch, so start your week night TV off right by checking out our suggestions below. 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

The last episode was HUGE for Warehouse 13. Not only did Jinks screw up (who among them hasn’t?! lol), but he did it in a spectacular way, by holding a gun on Mrs. Frederic (by the way, how great is CCH Pounder in this role? *love her*), allowing the bad “guy” to escape, which ended up getting her killed. So he was fired—but will he be back? I think so… I HOPE so! Claudia’s reaction to his leaving was just heartbreaking. Very reminiscent of Pete when Myka left at the end of last season. Then on top of all that, we find out one of the Regents is Pete’s mom. What? REALLY?! Crazy stuff! So not having a new episode last week was killer, because I so very much wanted to see the repercussions of all of that. Thankfully, we’ll find out what happens—at least with Pete & his mom—this week.

On tonight’s episode, “Shadows,” Pete has an uneasy reunion with his mother while he investigates the Regent murders by entering into her memories. Myka and Claudia encounter one of the deadliest artifacts yet while looking into a string of mysterious disappearances.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/8/11

Last night was the beginning of a new week, and what a night of television it was! The season finale of Falling Skies was brilliant, answering a lot of questions and raising even more. There were other great episodes, too, so overall, it was a fantastic night. Tonight has just as many great shows on, so it looks to be just as promising! What do we think you should be watching? You might be surprised. 😉 Read on to find out!

Last week was another great episode of Eureka, but when is it not?! The most surprising part, of course, was actually finding out for sure and witnessing Beverly Barlow in control of Allison—body and mind. She began losing blocks of time, and it turned out to be the same device that had affected the bank messing with the implants on Allison’s brain. When Carter fixed the problem at the bank, Beverly was able to full control Allison. VERY creepy stuff! I hope they figure this out SOON! I don’t like it when bad guys mess with the cool people of Eureka!

Jo and Zoe get together for a visit, and they return to Eureka, only to find the entire town incapacitated and communications cut off. Ming Na guest stars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/4/11

Happy 4th of July to all our American readers! What are your plans for the day? Me? I’m going to spend time catching up on TV with my husband, play board games & cards with him and our kiddo, go grocery shopping for the week, and then cook ribs & potato salad for dinner. It should be a good day! Still, being a holiday, there’s not a lot on tonight, so I don’t really have anything I’m saying, “You must watch this!” Megan, Lisa, & Kyle do, though, so check it out below! – Jenny

Lisa’s Choice

Their lives were turned upside down when they learned that they were switched at birth. For Daphne and Bay, the life they used to lead is now gone. In its place is a world full of confusion and shock. One lived their life with their single mother in a middle class neighborhood; the other lived a more wealthy life with two parents. Now, Daphne and Bay have to figure out which end is up and what family really means. Switched at Birth has quickly become another one of ABC Family’s huge breakout shows that you can’t live without on Monday nights.

Tonight, after being caught sneaking out to be with Ty, the Kennishes force Bay to invite him over for dinner. Knowing that this dinner was going to be an interrogation, Bay tries to prepare on every level, but nothing can actually prepare her for the secret that Ty ends up revealing. Meanwhile, Toby recruits Daphne and Emmett to help him out with winning a game of poker. However, unbeknownst to them, this is a high stakes game of poker and Toby may be in some serious trouble financially. Meanwhile, with pressure to help her new brother, Daphne becomes conflicted when her morals start to outweigh her loyalty.
