If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/18/13

August is flying by, and honestly, I am ready for the kids to go back to school. I love them all dearly, but no matter how many things you do, someone is always complaining about being bored. At least tonight there is some great television to watch that will keep us anything but bored. Let’s see what’s on.

Megan’s Choice

whodunnitsmallIt’s time for the killer to be revealed on Whodunnit?, and I’m ready to find out. Aren’t you? I’m torn between it being Melina or Kam who is the killer, but at this point, it could be anyone. We watched how Ronnie was killed with Ricin, then ejected from the hot tub with an explosion of liquid nitrogen—then we ended with Giles showing up on a video tied up with guns to his head. I wonder who did it?

On tonight’s finale, “Golden Cuffs,” with only four guests remaining, a final game of speed and memory will determine the winner—as well as the killer—at Rue Manor.

To solve the mystery, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Unforgettable, Cutthroat Kitchen, and The Great Food Truck Race.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/28/13

I don’t know about you, but summer is winding down in our house. My kiddo starts a week of band camp on Monday, and then school starts August 13th. He’s not happy about it, and I’m of mixed emotions. 😉 It’s been nice having him around, but I’ll kind of be glad for the peace & quiet! LOL But…that’s all in the future. For now, there’s some great stuff to watch on TV tonight, and I’m taking advantage of it. Check out our recommendations so you can relax and enjoy the evening too!

unforgettable728smallI really enjoyed Unforgettable when it was on last season, and I was disappointed when it came *this* close to be canceled. Fortunately, CBS decided to keep it, although it’s undergone a pretty big change. Most of the cast was let go, which means there’s obviously going to be some shift in jobs for Carrie and Al. And will they rekindle their romance? I’m hoping so! Fortunately, TPTB decided to keep Jane Curtin as the ME. I loved her on here. She had a great chemistry with Carrie and was just fun to watch. The newcomers to the show are Dallas Roberts (The Good Wife, The Walking Dead), who plays the Head of the NYPD’s Major Crimes Section, and Tawny Cypress (Heroes), & James Hiroyuki Liao (who was in 7 episodes of Prison Break).

On tonight’s episode, “Bigtime,” Carrie’s and Al’s reputations for closing cases results in an offer to join the Major Crimes Section of the NYPD. But when their first case—a high-profile child kidnapping—hits close to home for Carrie, it leaves her wondering if a move from Queens to Manhattan is what’s best for her. Andrew McCarthy guest stars.

Find out if the show has the same great feel to it this season, if not better, tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Food Court Wars, Food Network Star, Whodunnit?, Brother vs Brother, & Crossing Lines.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/7/13

The first week of summer vacation is behind us, and so far, no one has killed each other, so that’s a plus! This next week is going to be filled with lots of trips to the park, the lake, and of course, sun block galore…so before I start this week of insanity, let’s see what you should be watching tonight.

Megan’s Choice

whodunnitsmallI have actually been enjoying Whodunnit?, because while it’s not exactly the best acting or contestants, I find the mysteries to be intriguing. The part where they have to examine the body in the morgue is quite realistic, which would probably be a little too intense for me personally. Last week, we watched Adrianna get a card saying she was in danger, which was fine with me, because that woman was incredibly annoying. At the end, we watched her try to escape from the house on a golf cart, which exploded, “killing” her.

On tonight’s episode, “Kaboom,” as the 10 remaining guests attempt to solve the latest murder, suspicion and tension among them leads to more alliances and backstabbing.

To watch and see the contestants start to crumble, tune in to ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching True Blood, Ray Donovan, and Food Court Wars.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/30/13

Happy Sunday! It’s the start of a new week—the last day of June! Time flies. It’s also gonna be a short work week for most people because of Independence Day on Thursday, the 4th of July. My husband has both Thursday & Friday off work, my kid is gone this week to visit my family in Oklahoma, so I’m gonna have a good week. 😉 And that starts tonight, with some fun new episodes! Check out what we recommend you watch.

foodnetworkstar2013smallLast week on Food Network Star, the contestants got to relax at the movies—NOT! Instead, they were split up into teams of three and had to draw themes to determine what genre of movie they would not only cooking for, but performing a trailer for in order to promote their food: Romance, Musical, or Western. The trailers were a mixed bag. The Romance was a little cheesy, got a little raunchy, but was pretty good. The musical was pretty funny, but mainly because two of the three have terrible voices, and the one that CAN sing mumbled so much you couldn’t understand it all. The Western was the best. I really enjoyed it—and apparently, so did the audience, as they were the top vote getters. Rodney, Lovely, and Viet were in the bottom three. Viet is too shy/awkward in front of the camera. If he could put out food that the judges know he can in addition to coming more alive in front of the audience/camera, he’d be golden. Rodney hasn’t been consistent with his food—even the pies, which is odd, since he’s the pie king. So he needs to step up his game. The judges feel he has promise, though, so he stayed. In the end, Lovely, who was having big trouble with her food, was the one sent home, which I was more than okay with.

On tonight’s episode, “4th of July Live,” the remaining contestants are challenged to take part in live television scenarios where “E! News” host Terrence Jenkins will test them. The competitors assist with a special Fourth fo July show that offers recipe & party tips (much like the Food Network Thanksgiving special each year, it sounds like!).

See the fun tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing HGTV Star, Whodunnit?, Crossing Lines, Falling Skies, & Iron Chef America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 6/23/13

I can’t believe how fast June is going. I was writing up the schedule for the week, and it just blows my mind that we’re already starting the last week of the month! Crazy, I tell ya! But summer does have its perks—one of which is great TV. So Kyle & I are here to tell you our recommendations on what to watch tonight… Two brand new shows! (Megan is busy getting ready for her daughter’s birthday party, and JJ is having internet issues. Hopefully they’ll join us tomorrow! 🙂 )

crossinglinessmallIt’s not news that I love cop shows, so when a new one premieres, I’m right there every time. Tonight, NBC is premiering the new cop show with a twist, Crossing Lines. The show is brought to TV by Ed Bernero, the mind behind our favorite profilers on Criminal Minds, so I’m hoping this’ll be another hit for him. To sum it up, it’s about a group of law enforcement officials from around the globe who band together with the permission of the ICC (International Criminal Court) to investigate crimes that cross borders and hunt down global criminals. Like the FBI is to the United States, this group of ICC law enforcement officials steps in when crimes are connected across borders—only they deal with borders between countries, not states. For instance, when a serial killer strikes in one country and then moves to a new country, this organization steps in to track them and works to solve the case. And the show starts with the addition of a former NYPD detective joining the team.

The series stars William Fichtner (Invasion, Prison Break), Donald Sutherland (Dirty Sexy Money & a ton of other stuff!), Marc Lavoine, Gabriella Pession, Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones), Moon Dailly, & Richard Flood. Those names you don’t recognize? Most have been in other shows & movies—in other countries. The show was filmed overseas as well. So combined, it gives it a really authentic vibe. I’ve seen the first hour of tonight’s 2-hour series premiere, and it really left me wanting more. So it’s definitely a show you should check out tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot Part 1 & 2,” disabled former NYPD detective Carl Hickman has become a recluse—that is, until he receives a unique offer from his friend Detective Major Louis Daniel. The Major has a tough case searching for an international serial killer who crosses borders undetected, leaving a trail of victims in his path. Carl joins a team of unique specialists working for the International Criminal Court (ICC); while trying to juggle his own personal demons and trying to corner the killer before time runs out. When a member of the ICC team goes missing, it is presumed to be at the hands of the psychotic serial killer. Meanwhile, Tommy follows the trail of the serial killer’s earlier victims and Hickman must face his demons in time to find the missing team member. Elsewhere, when Sebastian tracks down the killer the team must race to apprehend him but a sudden tragedy changes the teams’ lives forever.

See it tonight on NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing HGTV Star, Food Network Star, & Whodunnit?.
