If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/11/13

I can’t believe Comic-Con is only a week away and I feel so unprepared! The panel schedules were announced last weekend, and there are so many great shows that conflict—not unlike the primetime TV schedule! To help you resolve your own TV scheduling conflicts, we’ve got some suggestions on what you should check out tonight.

summercampsmallTonight, USA premieres their own camp series, Summer Camp, an 8-week reality competition series (not to be confused with NBC’s new scripted series Camp, which premiered last night). In this series, 16 men and women are sent back to summer camp to relive their youth. The campers are split into two teams—men versus women—that will compete against one another in contests inspired by classic camp games. The team that loses each competition must send two of its members to the other camp, where the winning team will decide which of the pair will be sent packing. In the end, the winning team will split the $250K prize among its remaining members.

It looks like they have really tried to cover all the archetypes when building these teams. The girls camp consists of the Country Girl, the Geek, the Model, the Pageant Queen, the Bayou Bodybuilder, the Yogi, the Mean Girl, and the Flirt—while the guys camp is made up of the Smart Ass, the Hunter, the Class Clown, the Broadway Performer, the Sci-Fi Nerd, the Cowboy, the Soldier, and the Firefighter. This could be a fun twist on the usual reality competition series, and I’m looking forward to checking it out.

On tonight’s episode, “Welcome to Summer Camp,” the two camps clash as they come together for their first camp socail and compete in a canoeing Color War, in which the losing team has to banish two of its members to the opposing camp, which in turn has to decide which of the two leaves for good.

See which team rows their way to the winner’s circle tonight on USA Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Sharknado, Big Brother, Rookie Blue, Hollywood Game Night, Hell’s Kitchen, Wilfred, The Hero, Burn Notice, Graceland, and The Graham Norton Show.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/30/13

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I actually had trouble finding some things to watch a couple of nights this week—the problem was most of the stuff I watch didn’t start until 10pm. Why can’t they do a better job of spreading my shows out across the night?! 🙂 I’m not going to say I wish there was more on, because that wish will definitely come true soon—I’ll gladly take a few slow nights to rest up before the summer TV madness that is to come! 🙂

rookieblue530smallLast week, Rookie Blue returned for the fourth season. Andy and Nick were just finishing up their six-month undercover operation, and we learned that the two had hooked up in the process. When the operation hit a snag, Andy called Sam to come in and save the day, reuniting the two who hadn’t had any contact since the operation began. Afterwards, Andy discovered that Sam had moved on while she was away and was now dating the new training officer, Marlo. Meanwhile, Diaz had moved his son and girlfriend into the apartment with Dov, but when he received a letter telling him he could transfer to his hometown department, he had a new decision to make.

I really enjoyed the action-packed premiere, and I was beyond thrilled to see that Sam and Andy had remained broken up and that there might be a chance (albeit slim) of one or both of them moving on. It is probably the unpopular opinion, but I really wished they had killed off Sam at the end of season two—I don’t know what it is, but I just don’t like him. Sadly, I have a feeling the writers’ ultimate goal is to have Sam and Andy end up together, so in the meantime, I’ll just savor this separation. There was no sign of Luke last week—I really liked him and Andy together in the first season (before the writers did a 180 and turned him into a cheating dirtbag). Last season, Luke seemed to be redeeming himself, so I still hold out hope (no matter how futile) for those two to get back together. 🙂 I’m having flashbacks of Dawson’s Creek, where I seemed to be the only person who thought Joey should have ended up with Dawson!

On tonight’s episode, “Homecoming,” Andy investigates a bank robbery with Swarek. Meanwhile, Nick and Gail help a distraught woman; and Frank drops a bombshell on Noelle.

To see what news Frank gives Noelle, tune in to ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Save Me, Hannibal, Hell’s Kitchen, Does Someone Have to Go?, Chopped, Giving You the Business, Men at Work, and Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/6/12

I was so excited to get a “save the date” yesterday for Syfy’s annual Digital Press Tour event next month. I’ve never been invited to it before, but it always sounds like a great time. This year, they have moved it to Toronto, and it will include set visits for Warehouse 13 and the upcoming new series Defiance. I can’t wait to report back from that trip. Tonight’s new TV choices are a little slim, but we’ve got recommendations for you to check out. Next week, the fall season really starts to kick in, so enjoy this break before the madness!

On Big Brother, Ian became Head of Household and nominated Jenn and Frank. Last night, it was the veto competition, and Dan conquered Otev’s mountain to win the golden power of veto. He decided to take Jenn off the block, and Ian put up Joe as her replacement.

Both Ian and Frank gave Dan their blessing to use the Veto. I don’t understand why Frank thinks he can get the votes to stay over Joe! I really hope that Frank finally goes home tonight, quickly followed by Joe and Jenn. I would love to see Dan and Ian in the final two, with Ian taking home the prize.

In tonight’s live episode, either Frank or Joe will be evicted from the house. Plus, it’s another double-eviction episode, where a whole week’s worth of Big Brother will be played in one hour, leaving us with the final five.

See who goes home tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Big Brother @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Rookie Blue, Collection Intervention, Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.
