What a difference a week makes! We’re only two days into the May sweeps month, and my TiVo is already working overtime. There is so much on TV now as shows are ending and new shows are starting back up or returning. But fear not, because we’ve got a few suggestions to help you wade through the vast sea of new programming that’s on tonight.
Kyle’s Choice
Tonight, MTV premieres the new scripted comedy, Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous. Recent high school graduate Zach Stone (Bo Burnham) just wants to be famous—he doesn’t know how or why he will achieve his fame, but he will do anything to achieve it. So Zach decides to do a reality show about his life as a pre-celebrity and has a camera crew follow him 24/7. Zach takes advantage of any opportunity to become famous—even if that means “headlining” at a funeral.
Zach’s dad (Thomas F. Wilson) believes in a hard day’s work and doesn’t care for his son’s get famous quick schemes. Zach’s mother (Kari Coleman) tries to be supportive of her Zach’s venture, but his younger, popular, overachiever brother Andy (Cameron Palatas) wants no part of it. Zach’s peers include oldest friend Amy (Caitlin Gerard), who keeps him grounded (as much as possible), his loyal best friend Greg (Armen Weitzman), and Christy (Shelley Hennig), the hottest, most popular girl at school, who has no idea who Zach is.
On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” a young man attempts to become famous by hiring a camera crew to document his life.
