Tonight, the new series Zero Hour will attempt to break the curse of the Thursday 8pm ABC time slot. The series can be summed up as Indiana Jones meets The DaVinci Code. Hank Galliston (Anthony Edwards), the publisher of Modern Skeptic Magazine, has spent his life dealing with conspiracies, mysteries, and debunking paranormal events. However, when his wife (Jacinda Barrett) is kidnapped from her antique clock shop, Hank is drawn into a centuries-old conspiracy involving a treasure map and possible apocalyptic ramifications. Now, Hank must decipher the clues to find the answers, rescue his wife, and save the world. Joining him on this quest are his two associates, Rachel (Addison Timlin) and Arron (Scott Michael Foster), and FBI agent Rebecca Riley (Carmen Ejogo).
Tonight’s premiere has a very exciting, cinematic feel to it—it kept me riveted the whole hour. Tonight’s episode sets up a lot of stuff very quickly—perhaps a little too much, as it can get a little confusing. I will need to see another episode before I’m completely sold, but it looks like it should be a pretty adventures ride. My fingers are crossed that this show will break the time slot curse. I’m a big fan of these DaVinci Code-style mysteries, and it’s great to see Anthony Edwards back on TV!
On tonight’s premiere, “Strike,” Hank’s wife is kidnapped from her antique clock shop by a man who’s searching for an ancient treasure map and may be linked to the Nazis in 1930s Germany.
