hawaiifiveo227smallI’ve really been impressed with the stories on Hawaii Five-0 this season, and I continue to be amazed at the character growth weekly. Last week’s episode was an incredible nail biter, while we watched McGarrett and the team track down an arsonist with the help of a suspended ATF Special Agent Kathy Millwood (Melina Kanakaredes, CSI: NY), whose husband was killed by the arsonist. They managed to track him down to a hotel, but he took Agent Millwood hostage and planned on burning them down together in the hotel room. I was actually a little concerned we were going to have to watch yet another burn victim scene in this episode, but thankfully Steve saved the day and got to Kathy before the gas she was doused with was lit, turning her into a human torch. The subplot of this episode was really good with Danny and Amber going away for the weekend, but little did Amber know her abusive ex-husband, Frank, was on the island looking for her. Turned out that Frank was sent to jail for almost killing Amber, whose real name is actually Melissa. No matter what you call her, she was not looking to see him again. Unfortunately for Danny, who didn’t know anything about Frank, the man tracked them to the cottage and he knocked Danny out in the kitchen. When Danny came around, he saw Frank holding a knife to Amber. Always the hero, Danny jumped into motion, and while he saved Amber, he got stabbed himself. My favorite part came when Amber was leaving to drive Danny to the hospital and Frank jumped in front of the car. Amber hit him and then proceeded to run him over—karma at its finest, if you ask me. In the end, Danny survived, Amber told him everything, and of course Steve rushed to the hospital to check up on his partner. I’m really looking forward to where this season is headed, but wherever it is, you can be sure it’s going to be fantastic.

On tonight’s episode, “Kuka’awale (Stakeout),” McGarrett and Danny work on their relationship while they stakeout a woman’s apartment after she escapes following a diamond robbery. Max Weinberg, Cloris Leachman, Charlie Saxton, Jon Lovitz, & Jessica Lowndes guest star, and Daniel Dae Kim makes his directorial debut.

To see how this bromance couple works on their relationship, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race, 12 Monkeys, and Glee.

kotn2015smallKing of the Nerds continues to be one of the highlights of my Friday night TV viewing–it’s always an hour filled with fun. Last week’s episode started off with a three-round geeky game night, consisting of “Name That Nerd” (Taboo), “Pic-So-Nerdy” (Pictionary), and “Panto-Nerd” (charades). House Hooloovoo got Penn Jillette as their celebrity teammate, while Team SMASH got Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight, Under the Dome). It was amazing how quickly some of these answers were guessed!

It was a close game, but Team SMASH lost their second Nerd War in a row. This also meant that it was finally time that a member of the Secret Six had to be put up—and Jonathan suspected the women were going to go after him, so he told Kaitlin all about the alliance in order to get her on his side. Colby and Heather were sent to the Nuclear Nerd-Off, where they had to find letters amongst “toxic” waste and use these to form a sentence. Colby managed to eke out another win and will stick around for another week.

This show is just a joy to watch—and even Kaitlin, who I didn’t care for at the beginning, is growing on me. If I had to pick who I was rooting for, I would probably say either Jonathan or Kaitlin at this point! Can they outlast the remaining Secret Six members? I’m looking forward to seeing what new crazy competitions and fun celebrity guests appear tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Murder at Nerdvana?!” the nerds investigate when Pom Pom Kitty vanishes. Also: A master strategist’s loyalty is tested; and the teams are disbanded.

See why the teams are disbanded tonight on TBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race, Cristela, 20/20, Glee, Helix, and 12 Monkeys.
