Tonight is the series premiere of A.D. The Bible Continues on NBC at 9/8c. This mini-series will look at the lives that were instantly altered following the death of Christ. His disciples, mother Mary and key political religious leaders at the time saw their world turned upside down and their lives forever altered. Beginning at the fateful moment of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, part two of the Greatest Story Ever Told will focus on the disciples who had to go forward and disseminate the teachings of Christ to a world dominated by political unrest, starting a whole new religion that would dramatically reshape the history of the world. The show stars Greta Scaachi as Mother Mary, Richard Coyle as Caiaphus, Vincent Regan as Pilate, Adam Levy as Peter, Chipo Chung as Mary Magdalene and Juan Pablo Di Pace as Jesus.

Tonight is also the series premiere of American Odyssey on NBC at 10/9c. In this Traffic-like action drama, an international conspiracy explodes when three strangers’ lives unexpectedly collide: a female soldier, a corporate lawyer, and a political activist. After a team of American soldiers battles Jihadists in North Africa, they’re shocked to find that one of the men they killed is Al Qaeda’s top man. Sgt. Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel, Pushing Daisies) — a soldier, mother, wife, and the unit’s only female member — discovers computer files that suggest a major U.S. corporation is funding the Jihadists. But before she can tell anyone, her team is attacked and left for dead. News is reported that the unit was wiped out, but the truth is that Odelle survived and is the only witness to her unit’s assassination by U.S. Special Forces. In New York, former U.S. Attorney Peter Decker (Peter Facinelli, Nurse Jackie) is working on a merger deal for the same company that was funneling money to the Jihadists. Meanwhile, Harrison Walters (Jake Robinson, The Carrie Diaries), a political activist and trust-fund kid, meets a hacker who claims to have unearthed a massive military-industrial conspiracy. And he’s right: He’s stumbled onto the cover-up that began with Odelle and will soon be out in the open, and everyone’s lives will be in danger. The only way they’ll ever save their country, their families, and themselves is by joining forces and exposing the people behind it.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Lizzie Borden Chronicles on Lifetime at 10/9c. The show delivers an intense and fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity filled with scandalous love affairs. But when numerous people close to Lizzie — ranging from her half-brother William (Andrew Howard, Hatfields & McCoys) to Broadway luminaries and her business associate/underworld kingpin Mr. Flowers (Emmy nominee Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad) — start to mysteriously die under brutal and strange circumstances, legendary Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo (Cole Hauser, Chase, K-Ville) becomes determined to prove her involvement in their ultimate demise. Jessy Schram (Falling Skies) plays Nancy O’Keefe, an alluring and ambitious actress and dancer who befriends Lizzie, and Emmy nominee John Heard (The Sopranos) portrays William Almy, the business partner of Lizzie’s murdered father, Andrew. Christina Ricci reprises her role of Lizzie Borden and Clea DuVall also reprises her own of Lizzie’s sister, Emma, from Lizzie Borden Took An Ax.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Wolf Hall on PBS at 10/9c. Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night) and Damian Lewis (Homeland) star as Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII in Wolf Hall, a highly anticipated adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Booker Prize-winning novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. The six-part series charts the shrewd and brilliant rise of Cromwell in the Tudor court — from a blacksmith’s son to Henry VIII’s closest advisor.

Tonight is the series premiere of Funny Girls on Oxygen at 9/8c. The series follows the professional and personal lives of six female comics in Los Angeles who are climbing their way to the top of the stand-up ladder. While the comediennes differ in their levels of experience, styles of comedy and ultimate career goals, they share the ambition — and the passion — needed to make it in the City of Dreams. From working multiple jobs, to clashing with parents’ expectations, to yet another bad date, the comics provide a fresh, witty perspective on experiences to which young millennial women can relate. The show stars Calise Hawkins, Ester Steinberg, Nicole Aimee Schreiber, Scout Durwood, Stephanie Simbari, & Yamaneika Saunders.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Runner-Up on Esquire at 10/9c. The show provides an exclusive, all-access look at one of the most unique political campaigns of the 2014 mid-term elections: the improbable Congressional run of American Idol star Clay Aiken. With exclusive access, Lightbox (the company owned by producers Simon & Jonathan Chinn) embedded inside Aiken’s campaign to represent North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District — from his candidacy decision through the shocking primary election (which ended in the death of Aiken’s Democratic opponent), and his defeat this past November to incumbent Republican Congresswoman Renee Ellmers. Throughout, the documentary series shows Aiken, a gay Democrat and single father, working through strategy sessions with his team, prepping for debates and meeting with voters via town halls, bus tours and door-to-door canvassing.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Your Family or Mine on TBS at 10/9c. Based on an enormously popular Israeli comedy and from the producers of Friends, Will & Grace, and Happy Endings, the show stars Kyle Howard (Royal Pains), Kat Foster (‘Til Death), Richard Dreyfuss (The Goodbye Girl), and JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist). Written by Ground Floor co-creator and How I Met Your Mother alum Greg Malins, the comedy focuses on a different side of young couple’s family each week. Kelli (Foster) and Oliver (Howard) are the couple at the center. The series alternates between the in-laws and the casts, including Dreyfuss and Williams as Oliver’s parents. It also delivers funny scenarios that every couple can relate to as Kelli and Oliver navigate the complexities and eccentricities of both of their families while trying to maintain their own marriage and sanity.
