Tonight is the series premiere of Becoming Us on ABC Family at 9/8c. The new unscripted drama follows Ben, an ordinary Midwestern teenager, going through a unique situation. After his parents’ recent divorce, Ben learned that his dad is transitioning into a woman, Carly. In the series’ opener, “#WelcomeToMyWorld,” Ben is struggling in school, and his parents, Suzy and Carly, are not happy about it. Ben’s girlfriend, Danielle, would like to introduce Carly to her father, who is also transgender, leading to an awkward shopping trip for the four of them. And Ben’s sister, Sutton, returns home to Evanston to plan her upcoming wedding.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Odd Mom Out on Bravo at 10/9c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. The show stars acclaimed author Jill Kargman playing a satirical version of herself as she navigates the treacherous and elite ecosystem of New York’s Upper East Side, and the uber-wealthy mommy clique inhabiting this fantastically outrageous domain. A New Yorker through and through, Jill Weber (Kargman) embraces her quirky and somewhat unconventional life with her loving husband, Andy (Andy Buckley, The Office) and three great kids. Jill’s frenemies and in-laws only fuel the pressure for her to conform, including the status-obsessed family matriarch, Candace (Joanna Cassidy, Six Feet Under), brother-in-law Lex (Sean Kleier, Madam Secretary) and his wife, Brooke (Abby Elliott, Saturday Night Live), who reigns over a group of quintessential Upper East Side mombots with an iron credit card.

Tonight is the series premiere of Brides Gone Styled on TLC at 9:30/8:30c. The show combines two of the network’s most beloved genres: wedding dresses and makeovers. Celebrity stylists Gretta Monahan and Robert Verdi make it their mission to take the worst of the worst dressed brides from wild to styled. In each episode, the bride picks the dress she thinks she wants, while Gretta and Robert pick three dresses they think would flatter her more. As the bride tries on each dress, the stylists propose hairstyles and makeup options that would best complement each look. Finally, each participant selects her winning dress in secret and reveals it to the hosts and her friends and family. The brides featured this season include a tomboy, a heavy metal rocker, a hippie and a glitter obsessed goth girl.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Dare to Wear on TLC at 10/9c. The show literally flips the script on the makeover show construct. Host and style expert Tai Beauchamp asks two extreme fashion disasters on total opposite sides of the style spectrum to switch perspectives by swapping wardrobes. The result is like hitting their own personal style reset button. Not only does this change their outward appearance, but their inner sense of self. After being shocked to learn that they have to swap clothing, these women will spend a day in the other’s clothes. The women gain a newfound understanding, and branch out to leave their comfort zone for a head to toe transformation.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Dark Matter on Syfy at 10/9c. The crew of a derelict spaceship awakens with no memories of who they are or how they got there. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage fueled by vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets. The series features Melissa O’Neil (Broadway’s Les Miserables), Marc Bendavid (Bitten), Anthony Lemke (White House Down), Alex Mallari Jr. (Robocop), and Jodelle Ferland (Twilight), with Roger Cross (The Strain) and Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl).

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Secret Lives of Americans on Pivot at 10:30/9:30c. The show gives viewers an up-close and unflinching look at individuals’ lives as they expose powerful secrets to the most important people in their lives. The series will be primarily shot by the subjects themselves, giving viewers an opportunity to experience immersive and intimate documentation, hearing firsthand about the turmoil caused by the skeletons in the subjects’ closets. As these journeys unfold, viewers will come to understand the subjects’ stories within the context of a greater social issue.
