If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/27/15

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

muppets1027smallI’m so excited that we finally get a new episode of The Muppets tonight (insert Kermit flail animated GIF here)! In the last episode, Fozzie accidentally shot Statler in the face with the T-shirt cannon, and the old grump decided to teach Fozzie a lesson, giving him a long list of items he needed in order to make his hospital stay more bearable (no pun intended). However, by the time Fozzie had gathered everything and showed up at the hospital, Statler had already taken off – he had over-exaggerated his injuries. Meanwhile, Piggy was desperate to be accepted by her coworkers, so when they invited her to join them for drinks at Roelf’s Tavern, she jumped at the chance. Once everyone was sufficiently liquored up, and with a little prodding by guest Ed Helms, they each took the stage to sing karaoke, and the results were hilarious! We also learned that Sam the Eagle has a crush on Janet.

I am really enjoying this new series. It still brings the humor and fun that we have come to expect from the Muppets over the years, but it now feels even more relatable with the office setting. It’s so easy to connect to the office drama that we all have experienced at one time or another. I mean, who hasn’t worked with that guy who does the hard-sell for his daughter’s Girl Scout cookies?! And seeing these Muppets deal with mundane office politics is so much fun – and makes them feel even more real.

On tonight’s episode, “Walk the Swine,” the feud between Miss Piggy and Reese Witherspoon heats up when they volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Meanwhile, Fozzie and his girlfriend have problems.

Find out what problems Fozzie and his girlfriend have tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’m also watching/recording Limitless, Fresh Off the Boat, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wicked City, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, The Flash, iZombie, and Face Off.

Megan’s Choice

wickedcity1027smallTonight is the series premier of Wicked City, which follows a murder case set in Los Angeles in 1982. We’re going to get a delicious look at the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle of the Sunset Strip that is full of drugs, sex, and drama. Ed Westwick stars, and I am excited because I’ve enjoyed his acting since his days on Gossip Girl. This show looks like a fantastic drama that balances it all, including crime, lust, and drugs. Don’t miss the premiere tonight.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Detectives Jack Roth (Jeremy Sisto) and new partner Paco Contreras (Gabriel Luna) are assigned to track down a killer who preys on women seeking fame in the City of Angels. Their perp, unbeknownst to them, is Kent Grainger (Ed Westwick), a tragic soul who craves attention and goes on a murderous rampage to obtain notoriety. Jack and Paco get a break when they stumble upon Karen McClaren (Taissa Farmiga), a young, struggling journalist who may have met the killer at a club and could I.D. him – but she may also be his next target. Meanwhile, Kent has found himself a young woman who may be his “Bonnie” to his twisted “Clyde” in the form of Betty Beaumontaine (Erika Christensen), a nurse and single mother of two with a bit of a sadistic twist.

To see if this edgy new drama is for you, tune in to ABC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS: NOLA, Chicago Fire, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, Chopped, The Voice, and Limitless.

Jenny’s Choice

choppedjuniorsmallIt’s no secret that I love cooking competition shows, and one of my favorites is Chopped. So when I saw the ads for Chopped Junior, I was so excited. I’ve watched when they had teens, and I’ve seen other “kid” chef shows, so this one should be a lot of fun. Each episode shows the talents of kids hoping to make “unforgettable meals” (as host Ted Allen says a lot) from the mystery ingredients. I’ve heard that the ingredients won’t be any easier, but the set was transformed – different/brighter colors, lower shelves for those shorter arms, and all kinds of mixers, mugs, baking accessories, and more (including step stools!).

On tonight’s episode, “Curd is the Word,” full of energy and precocious abilities, four aspiring chefs take over the Chopped kitchen and face a judging panel featuring actor Billy Gardell and The Kitchen’s Marcela Valladolid and Geoffrey Zakarian. In the first round, they must tame the sweetness of some basket items. Pizza is a fine surprise in the entree round, but lamb loins stump some of the young competitors. Then, lemon curd and a fun retro candy get a spin for dessert.

See how these young chefs do with these challenging ingredients tonight on Food Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing World Series, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, NCIS, Top Chef Canada, MasterChef Canada, NCIS: NOLA, Chicago Fire, & Chopped.
