Last year, Syfy’s new time-bending sci-fi drama 12 Monkeys was a pleasant surprise and ended up being one of my favorite shows of the year. Tonight the series returns for its second season. The show centers around James Cole, who was sent back from 2043 to 2015 in order to prevent a virus from being spread that would wipe out the world. When we last left off, Cole had confronted his former best friend Ramse, who had traveled back decades earlier and was just waiting out his time until 2015 so he could use the splinter machine when it was first created, to save his son. However, Cole and Cassie caught up with him, and Cassie pulled a gun and shot Ramse, but she was also shot in the crossfire. With both of them bleeding out, Ramse gave Cassie his needle of time-travel serum and told her to inject herself and go to the future, where Jones would save her. However, in 2043, Jones was having her own issues – Deacon had joined forces with the group of 12 to storm the facility and seize control of the machine. However, they were shocked to see Cassie arrive. And back in 2015, new Markridge CEO Jennifer Goines was seen setting out for a 12-city trip around the globe and was loading 12 mysterious boxes onto her plane.
The Striking Woman said that it was Ramse’s fate to die in 2015 and that couldn’t be changed, but Cole decided to save his friend – how is that possible, and what affect will this have? If Ramse isn’t The Witness, then who is? With no time-travel injection, how will Cole and Ramse get back to the future, or will they just wait out the next 28 years?! What does the group of 12 have planned in the future, and how will Cassie’s arrival affect that? And speaking of Cassie, how will she survive in the future – isn’t she in danger of catching the virus? And what is Jennifer planning with her 12-city globetrotting adventure?! I’m really excited to see what happens next and can’t wait to check out tonight’s season premiere!
On tonight’s episode, “Year of the Monkey,” Cole and Ramse mend their broken friendship while on the run from the Army of the 12 Monkeys in the Season 2 premiere. And in the year 2043, Railly and Jones navigate an uncertain future as Deacon and the Twelve command the Temporal Facility.
Catch up with Cole, Ramse, and the others tonight on Syfy at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Supergirl, Castle, Blindspot, Gotham, Lucifer, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, The Detour, Bates Motel, Hunters, Better Call Saul, and Talking Saul.

Last week’s Scorpion was a lot of fun. The team was hired by the Department of Defense to break into Fort Knox in order to prove that the outside security that had been hired wasn’t good enough. Of course it wasn’t easy and they damn near got caught, which wouldn’t have been good since they’d been told the DoD wouldn’t acknowledge them if they were. Of course, once they got in and stole the artifact they’d been told to steal, they figured out the artifact wasn’t exactly what they’d been told it was…AND there was a chemical weapon stored in the handle. They figured out that the guy who’d hired them was actually in it for himself and knew it was there and wanted to get it and sell it to the highest bidder. So they had to break BACK in and plant the guy’s badge, so when he tried to get into Fort Knox, they stopped him, found the artifact they’d given him after they stole it, and arrested him. I loved it.
On the more personal front… First up is Walter and Linda… Ever since he saved her life, she has been more and more interested in him. Toby pointed out that she was only interested in him because of that, but Walter denied it until the end, and when he asked her if that was possible, she finally realized it and admitted that it was true. Of course, then there’s Paige and Armstrong, so the road for Paige and Walter still isn’t clear. And finally, Ralph and his court case. After Walter barked at him when he didn’t understand what Ralph was trying to explain (he later apologized, which was fantastically heartwarming), they finally figured out how to prove that Ralph’s work was actually RALPH’S work and not the professor’s, Ralph won the case, making it the first case his inept but sweet lawyer won as well.
On tonight’s penultimate episode, “Chernobyl Intentions,†Team Scorpion goes to Chernobyl to repair the decaying nuclear reactor before a catastrophic meltdown, but must also save Sylvester and Paige when they become trapped inside.
See if this brings Walter and Paige closer tonight on CBS at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cupcake Wars, The Detour, Lucifer, NCIS: LA, Blindspot, & Castle.

I am quite disappointed that next week is the season finale of Lucifer, because we have been getting such fantastic character growth and amusing episodes. Last episode, Lucifer realized he loved the feeling of doing good deeds (or so he thought), after he turned down having sex with a very drunk Chloe. Later he tried to step into the shoes of a philanthropist who had been murdered, thinking that doing the same sort of good deeds would give him that feeling again. It didn’t work. The case actually got him shot by the victim’s wife when Lucifer put the pieces together and realized she had killed her husband. Oddly enough, Lucifer survived and is indeed not becoming mortal, which is very confusing for him. After some thought, he realized that it is Chloe who is making him vulnerable, and we were left with him hugging her with a look of turmoil on his face.
I’m not sure how this is going to play out, but I do know that Lucifer loves Chloe and I need another season of this show so I can see them get together. Thankfully, FOX made a deal with the devil and renewed Lucifer for a second season.
On tonight’s episode, “#TeamLucifer,” when a woman is found dead on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – with her body twisted into the shape of a pentagram – the investigation leads Lucifer and team into the world of Satanists, where they soon realize, evil doesn’t always live where we expect it to.
Find out how Lucifer feels about these worshipers tonight on FOX at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching The Voice, Scorpion, Blindspot, and NCIS: LA.
