I’m so excited for tonight’s third/final season premiere of Review with Forrest MacNeil. In the first season, critic Forrest MacNeil decided to review life experiences, but his mistake was leaving the choice of those experiences up to his viewers. Forrest takes his job very seriously and commits himself fully to every review. While some of the suggestions were harmless, like eating pancakes, things quickly escalated when viewers started suggesting things like having an affair and killing someone. By the end of the first season, Forrest’s wife had left him and his life had pretty much been destroyed. It seemed like there was nowhere else to go in the second season, but Forrest returned to his job and tried to create some additional guidelines to prevent horrible things from happening again. However, things still escalated quickly, and Forrest found himself joining a cult and caused both of his father’s homes to burn to the ground. Forrest started to suspect that his producer Grant had been the person who destroyed his life, giving him these insane experiences to review. At the end of the second season, he confronted Grant, and the two of them wound up going over the edge of a tall bridge into the rough water below, presumably dead.
This is one of my all-time favorite series. I love how completely Forrest commits to his job and always maintains his integrity, even if the situation that results is dangerous and detrimental to his own well-being. I constantly find myself both laughing out loud and horrified at the same time while watching this show. Tonight the series is back to wrap up Forrest’s story with a shortened third season. How did Forrest survive the fall, and did Grant survive as well? What is next for Forrest – is it too late for him to repair and rebuild his life? Was Grant really the mastermind behind the destruction of Forrest’s life, or maybe A.J. was sick of being pushed into the background by her co-star? I can’t wait to see how this final chapter plays out!
If you want to relive Forrest’s past adventures or need to catch up before the final season, Comedy Central has made all 19 episodes of the first 2 seasons available at ComedyCentral.com.
On tonight’s premiere, “Locorito, Pet Euthanasia, Dream,” Forrest reviews a new product at a Mexican restaurant; experiences putting a pet to sleep; and learns what it’s like to fulfill a dream.
See how Forrest made it out of the river alive tonight on Comedy Central at 10/9c.
I’ll also be watching/recording Snatch, Grey’s Anatomy, Superstore, The Blacklist: Redemption, MasterChef: Junior, Kicking & Screaming, and Colony.

Last week’s Chicago Med was a big one for Dr. Reese and Dr. Manning both. Dr. Reese met a young woman while doing rounds at a mental ward or hospital. The girl claimed she wasn’t crazy and didn’t belong there, and when Dr. Reese introduced herself (and where she worked…) and told her crazy was a word she never used, the girl got the bright idea to drink some toxic crap to get her sent to the hospital, where she could get in touch with Dr. Reese again. Once she heard her story, Dr. Reese got Dr. Charles involved, and he spoke with the girl’s treating psychiatrist, who basically said they were bamboozled and to leave her patient alone. Thankfully, even after the girl tried to slit her wrists in a genuine attempt to kill herself (this time despondent over having to go back to the mental ward), Dr. Charles is still planning to try to help her.
And for Dr. Manning… Oh man. That was probably the toughest case I’ve seen on this show so far. A long-time coma patient was brought in, and they figured out she was pregnant. Weeks/months pregnant, when she’d been in a coma for five years. The doctors argued that the pregnancy needed to be terminated or it could be a very bad thing for the young woman, but her parents were determined to have her continue with the pregnancy so at least they’d have a little of their daughter with them. After some time and a lot of tests, Dr. Manning thought she saw some recognition when the girl’s eyes fluttered, and even though the others tried to convince her it was just something that happened with coma patients, she decided to get a consult from the neuro doctor. When he ran a specific test, they determined the girl wasn’t actually IN A COMA. She’d been trapped, awake and perfectly alive, in a completely paralyzed body for five years. UBER creepy!!
Tonight is a big episode for the show. It’s been well advertised (and I’m leaving it out of the episode description because it is that spoilery!) that something is happening tonight, and while I don’t want to spoil if you haven’t seen it, there was a BIG BIG BIG like SUPER BIG clue as to who it deals with on last week’s episode. What happens is a shocker, but who is involved? Not so much!
On tonight’s episode, “Monday Mourning,†Dr. Choi and Dr. Halstead face off over how to treat a patient with stroke symptoms while Dr. Manning treats a young boy who fell in the river and watches the family turmoil unfold. Meanwhile, Dr. Rhodes examines the man who saved Dr. Manning’s patient and emphasizes the importance of learning from your mistakes to Dr. Reese.
See the fallout from whatever caused tonight’s episode title on NBC at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef: Junior & Beat Bobby Flay.
