Tonight is the series premiere of Great News on NBC at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c. Getting along with office colleagues can be rough, but working with your mom? That’s a whole different story, and it’s the headline for Katie Wendelson (Briga Heelan), a smart, ambitious news producer at national cable news show “The Breakdown.” After 30 years of being a stay-at-home mom, Carol (Andrea Martin) decides that it’s never too late to follow your dreams and lands an internship at her daughter’s news show. This is Katie’s worst nightmare, until she comes to realize that with her biggest cheerleader at her side, she and her mom both might just make it after all. Sitting in the co-anchor chair at “The Breakdown” is Chuck Pierce (John Michael Higgins), the blowhard, difficult-to-please news desk veteran. Chuck intimidates everyone on staff except for Carol, who uses her polished mom skills to deal with him. Alongside him is Portia (Nicole Richie), the young, very hip co-host who brings a different perspective to old-fashioned journalism. Leading the news team is Greg (Adam Campbell), the dashing young executive producer. Katie’s closest friend at the office is Justin (Horatio Sanz), the laid back video editor who has seen it all and is always more than happy to dole out his zen-like advice. Rounding out the newsroom is Beth (Tracey Wigfield), the creepy resident meteorologist who is far from your stereotypical weather girl.

Tonight is also the series premiere of JFK Declassified: Tracking Oswald on History Channel at 10/9c. More than two million declassified government files offer new evidence about Lee Harvey Oswald’s activities in the weeks, months and years before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy with the last remaining documents scheduled for release later this year. The show follows former CIA agent, Bob Baer and former LAPD police lieutenant, Adam Bercovici, on their independent global investigation into Oswald, and the murder of JFK, asking the questions: did he have accomplices, and if so, who helped him assassinate the President?

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. The drama series, based on the award-winning, best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world. In this terrifying society where one wrong word could end her life, Offred navigates between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids — where anyone could be a spy for Gilead — all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her. The show also stars Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Max Minghella, O.T. Fagbenle, & Samire Wiley.

Tonight is the series premiere of Fire Island on Logo at 8/7c. The show follows a group of young professionals living together in a beachfront share house for the summer as they search for the romance, temptation and thrills that have brought the LGBTQ community to the island for decades.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Inside the FBI: New York on USA Network at 10/9c. This is a gripping new series that pulls back the curtain on the Bureau’s flagship office to meet the men and women whose mission is to keep Americans safe. Filmed for over a year with unprecedented access to the largest field office in the country, it tells the untold stories of these unsung heroes dedicated to fighting terrorists, gangsters, bank robbers, cyber criminals and sexual deviants.

Tonight is also the 75-minute series premiere of Married at First Sight: Second Chances on Lifetime at 10:17/9:17c. The show follows Married at First Sight season three viewer favorites, David Norton and Vanessa Nelson, as they get another shot at finding life-long love. In season three, David’s marriage failed, despite his efforts to spark a connection with his wife Ashley. Vanessa’s marriage to Tres blossomed, only to fall apart after filming concluded. Now, with one experiment over and their divorces finalized, David and Vanessa are embarking on a new one to find their soulmates. Men and women from their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, will take part in multiple rounds of dating and courtship in an attempt to win the hearts of these two eligible singles. With guidance from the experts, as well as their family and friends, will David and Vanessa finally get their happily ever after?

Finally, tonight is the complete first season premiere of Dear White People on Netflix at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, this is a hilarious send-up of “post-racial” America that weaves together the universal story of finding one’s own identity and forging a wholly unique path. The satirical series — which picks up where the acclaimed 2014 film by the same name left off – follows a group of Winchester University’s students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and sometimes misguided activism in the millennial age. Through an absurdist lens, the show utilizes biting irony, self-deprecation and sometimes brutal honesty to hold up a mirror to the issues plaguing society today, all the while leading with laughter. It stars Antoinette Robertson, Ashley Blaine Featherson, Brandon P. Bell, Brant Daugherty, DeRon Horton, Jemar Michael, Jeremy Tardy, John Patrick Amedori, Logan Browning, Marque Richardson, Nia Jervier, Nia Long, & Wyatt Nash.
