If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/4/18

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Tonight, The Good Place returns for the first of its final 5 episodes of the season. When we last left off, Michael was worried that Janet’s dimwitted new boyfriend Derek was going to go blab to Vicky, so he sought advice from Eleanor and Chidi on how to handle the situation (besides just killing Derek). Meanwhile, Jason and Tahani went off on a weekend getaway, where Jason proposed to Tahani. The two planned to get married later that day on the beach, but the rest of the group rushed to stop them. Eleanor told Tahani that in a past iteration, Jason had been married to Janet, and that was enough for her to call off the wedding. Janet was then forced to confront her feelings for Jason, and this caused her to dispose of Derek herself. Finally, Eleanor showed Chidi the VHS tape of the two of them professing their love for one another in a past iteration, and both of them agreed they didn’t have feelings for one another. And the episode ended with Michael returning to his office, where his angry boss Shawn was waiting.

Can Michael really become a good guy, or is he up to something? Does Shawn know about Michael and the others? And if so, does this mean Michael is going to be permanently terminated, or is there some other twist that we don’t know about yet? What is our gang’s ultimate plan? Will Eleanor and Chidi admit they do have feelings for one another? Will Jason and Tahani end up together, or is there still a chance for Janet and Jason? (And how does that even work?!) This is one of the shows I really look forward to each week, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out, and what kind of new cliffhanger they leave us with 4 weeks from now!

On tonight’s episode, “Leap to Faith,” Michael receives a surprise visitor. Meanwhile, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason attempt to solve a riddle.

Find out if the group can solve the riddle tonight on NBC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Superstore, Will & Grace, Van Helsing, and Damnation.

Last time on S.W.A.T., Hondo and the team got called in to work over their Christmas vacation when a couple of young idiots decided to rob a drug cartel of some of their gold. They were able to track them down with the help of one of two young women who helped the thieves gain access to the gold. She bonded with Deacon, who helped talk her into going in wired when her friend is kidnapped so the team can get the cartel guys. Then she was able to go into WitSec (fka Witness Protection) so she could start a whole new life. It was a happy ending for everyone, since they got home in time to spend the rest of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with their families. They also got to play a game with their team to keep hold of a “golden ticket” to win a spot to go to the Grammy’s to help with security. So they had fun while they worked. Hondo bought the team all gifts and surprised them at the end – the sweetest being the toy Deacon was trying (and failing at) so hard to find for his son. And finally, Jessica met the president of the Police Commission (played by Cullen Daddy Peter Facinelli), and he seems like a really good guy, listening to and helping her with her ideas for SWAT and the police department, but I have a feeling he’s going to come in between her & Hondo… Uh-oh!

I really love this show. It’s light, fun, and has a great cast. It isn’t my favorite new cop (or similar) show of the season, but I love it and look forward to it every week.

On tonight’s episode, “Blindspots,” when a misconduct complaint filed against Hondo gets him taken off active duty, Deacon steps up to lead the team in finding a robbery crew that is hitting marijuana dispensaries. Also, when Tan notices a similarity between the current robberies and a case from his time with Hollywood LAPD, he asks for help from an informant with whom he has a complicated history.

See what gets Hondo in trouble tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, The Four: Battle for Stardom, Will & Grace, Great News, Beat Bobby Flay, Chicago Fire, & Top Chef.

Young Sheldon is a family favorite around here, and there are even a few people in my family who like it better than The Big Bang Theory. (Blasphemy, I know!) Honestly, this show makes me laugh every single week, and the last new episode where Sheldon learned to lie was hilarious. I am interested to continue seeing the progression as Sheldon grows up and learns more about life outside a textbook.

On tonight’s episode, “An Eagle Feather, a String Bean, and an Eskimo,” when Sheldon moves to Dallas to attend a school for gifted children, the family struggles to cope with his absence.

To find out if Sheldon can handle being away from home, tune in to CBS at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago Fire, The Big Bang Theory, S.W.A.T., Beat Bobby Flay, and The Four: Battle for Stardom.
