Tonight is the series premiere of We’ll Meet Again on PBS at 8/7c. Exploring some of history’s most dramatic events through the personal stories of those who experienced them, the series brings together people whose lives intersected at pivotal moments. Executive produced and reported by Ann Curry, each episode reveals the powerful bonds forged among people who now, against the odds, have the chance to reunite with someone who transformed their life. The tides of history can disrupt lives, throwing strangers together or tearing loved ones apart. The show reveals these moving personal stories of hope, courage and love: from a Vietnam War baby desperate to find the American father she last saw 40 years ago to the military chaplain who helped a stranger through the trauma of 9/11, from a Japanese-American girl interned in 1942 who never forgot the classmate who helped her during her darkest hours to civil rights workers whose lives were forever changed by the deep relationships they formed in the 1960s South. It takes viewers on a journey of hope, searching for clues in marriage records and war and immigration documents, and combing archives to reunite those separated by time and distance.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Bellevue on WGN at 10/9c. The eight-episode, one-hour series stars Anna Paquin (True Blood, Roots) as Detective Annie Ryder, Shawn Doyle (House of Cards, Fargo) as Police Chief Peter Welland, and Allen Leech (Downton Abbey, The Imitation Game) as Eddie Roe. This gripping and eerie original series is set against the backdrop of a small town with big secrets. Twenty years ago, the murder of a young woman traumatized the community of “Bellevue.” Now, the killer is back. Or is he/she? When a high school hockey star, who is wrestling with his gender identity, goes missing and all signs point to foul play, Detective Annie Ryder (Anna Paquin) must unravel all the pieces to this gripping mystery before her own life falls apart. As the case pulls her further away from her family, she is also confronted by a mysterious person from her past with disturbing answers to lingering questions and a terrifying need to play mind games. Along the way, Annie must navigate a complicated relationship with her on again, off again ex, Eddie (Allen Leech) and her boss on the force, Chief Peter Welland (Shawn Doyle).

Tonight is the series premiere of Let’s Get Physical on Pop at 8:30/7:30c. This is a modern-day comedy capturing the zeitgeist of 1980s aerobics. The series revolves around middle-aged slacker Joe Force (Matt Jones), who makes a reluctant comeback in the fitness industry after his dad, the “Godfather of Aerobics,” unexpectedly passes away and wills Joe the broke-down family gym with eccentric provisions attached to get his actual fortune and estate. Janet Force (Jane Seymour) is Joe’s mom, who takes the reins of the family business in order to maintain their legacy and uses information and manipulation to guarantee that things go her way. Upon coming home, Joe faces his rival, Barry Cross (Chris Diamantopoulos), and his teenage love, Claudia (AnnaLynne McCord), who is now Barry’s wife.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Waco on Paramount at 10/9c. Featuring an all-star cast including Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, Andrea Riseborough, John Leguizamo, Melissa Benoist, Paul Sparks, Shea Whigham, Rory Culkin, Julia Garner, and Camryn Manheim, this chronicles this true story told from perspectives of those who were intimately involved. In February 1993, the eyes of the world converged on Mount Carmel, a small religious community located just outside Waco, TX. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) had just conducted a massive raid on David Koresh and his followers, known as the Branch Davidians. After what became the longest gun battle in U.S. law enforcement history, four ATF agents and six civilians were dead and dozens more were wounded. A 51-day standoff ensued, and the conflict ended after an FBI assault led to a fire that engulfed Mount Carmel, killing 76 men, women, and children. What precipitated the ATF raid, and what transpired over the ensuing standoff, remains one of the most misunderstood stories in American history. Based on two biographies, “Waco: A Survivor’s Story,” by Branch Davidian David Thibodeau, one of the nine survivors of the final fire on April 19, 1993, and “Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator,” written by the FBI’s Head of Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner, the six-part scripted television series Waco will forever change the way the dramatic siege will be viewed.
