If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/22/18

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, after nine seasons, it’s finally time to say goodbye to the Hecks as ABC airs a special one-hour series finale of The Middle. Last week Frankie discovered that Axl had interviewed for a job in Denver. She was worried about having her firstborn leave the nest and attempted to sway Axl from taking the job, including trying to recruit Axl’s girlfriend to give him an ultimatum to stay. Meanwhile, Sue was also sad to say her own goodbye. Sean was leaving for Ghana, and she never told him how she really felt about him. Sue tried to stop by his home, but he wasn’t there, so she stuffed the snow globe into his packed bag, along with a note.

Tonight, the series comes to an end, and as the Hecks says goodbye to Axl, the viewers say goodbye to the whole family, who have been a fun part of our lives for the past nine years. Tonight’s series finale is a perfect hour of television, keeping the episode primarily dialogue-driven and all about the family. The characters have lots of heartfelt moments with one another, while also making us laugh. The episode is also filled with callbacks to lots of the fun things that have happened on the series over the years and includes some fun guest appearances that longtime fans will appreciate. Much of the episode revolves around a family car trip, and while we’ve seen many of these over the course of the series, this may very well be the funniest. I am really going to miss this show in the fall!

How will the rest of the family react to the news that Axl is leaving? And will Sue ever get a chance to profess her love to Sean? Don’t miss tonight’s one-hour series finale and your chance to say goodbye to the Hecks!

On tonight’s finale, “A Heck of a Ride,” a Heck leaves the nest as the family takes a road trip to Denver, where Axl will start his new job – and new life away from home.

Say goodbye to a heck of a family (see what I did there?) tonight on ABC at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Flash, The 100, Legion, and Chrisley Knows Best.

Phoebe’s Choice

Last week, The Flash started with a bang, with the Thinker breaking into Argus detention center, the Castle, by using the full gamut of his powers he’s acquired this season. It was a very fun CGI moment, seeing the various powers in play. But Team Flash soon determined that he was there to use the last of the “bus metas,” Borman, to finalize his plan to make everyone on earth stupid through a radioactive satellite launch.

While the team was trying to figure out how to stop him, Cecile’s telepathy started to work like osmosis, and she took on the personality of whomever she was in the closest proximity to. Meanwhile, Thinker had booby trapped the Castle using his hostages. The only way Team Flash could conceive of to save them & get Thinker was for Barry to take Cisco & Kait into Flash Time with him. It’s like pausing the whole Universe except for Flash. (He gets new powers every year.) But the other two needed practice doing things in the Flash Time, so it was a big training episode. Meanwhile, Isis was tracking down Davoe’s ex, Marlize. Harry was slowed down to an Emo mode and working off an emotional understanding rather than an intellectual one.

In the course of the training, we saw a flashback to Kaitlin’s childhood, which would later reveal to us that Killer Frost was a part of her long before the particle accelerator explosion four years ago. The team went in after Devoe, and Barry stopped one of the satellites, so we win, right? No. Devoe just raided Star Labs and used one of Team Flashes satellites as the credits role. Only chance we may have is that Iris managed to recruit Marlize to her side in the penultimate scene. So it’s going to be exciting tonight! I’m thinking Cecile wins the day somehow.

On tonight’s episode, “We Are the Flash,” Team Flash gets help from a surprising ally in their battle against DeVoe.

See how the season ends for Team Flash tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I‘ll also be watching Legion!
