Tonight is the series premiere of The Rook on Starz at 8/7c. This is a supernatural spy thriller, which tells the story of Myfanwy Thomas (Emma Greenwell, a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge with no memory of who she is and no way to explain the circle of latex-gloved dead bodies splayed around her. When Myfanwy discovers she is a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she will have to navigate the dangerous and complex world of the agency to uncover who wiped her memory — and why she is a target. It also stars Adrian Lester, Catherine Steadman, James D’Arcy, Joely Richardson, Jon Fletcher, Olivia Munn, Ronan Raftery, & Shelley Conn.

Tonight is also the series premiere of What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage on FOX at 9:30/8:30c. Teased on FOX social pages, The Flare is a television drama that now has a very real after-show, called What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage, dedicated to exploring the fandom surrounding the show. The Flare is based on fictional author TJ Whitford’s sci-fi book series, “The Moon is the Sun at Night,” which has been a favorite of Savage’s since childhood. The book revolves around a solar event and its effects on Earth — specifically, the small, blue-collar town of Milford, IL — and slowly unfolds into a post-apocalyptic battle for human survival. The after-show will feature multiple segments, including authentic sit-down celebrity interviews, set visits to The Flare and interviews with the “cast,” as well as discussions with fans and more.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of The Loudest Voice on Showtime at 10/9c. Russell Crowe stars as Fox News found Roger Ailes. The show is based on extensive reporting by Gabriel Sherman in his bestselling book, “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” which included interviews with more than 600 people. In addition to Crowe, the star-studded cast also includes Naomi Watts as former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, Sienna Miller as Ailes’ wife Elizabeth, Seth MacFarlane as former Fox News PR chief Brian Lewis, Simon McBurney as News Corp leader Rupert Murdoch, Annabelle Wallis as former Fox News booker Laurie Luhn, and Aleksa Palladino as Ailes’ longtime assistant Judy Laterza. Guest stars include Josh Charles as Casey Close, Gretchen Carlson’s husband, and Josh Stamberg as former Fox executive, Bill Shine. In today’s politically charged media landscape, no figure looms larger, even after his passing, than Roger Ailes, who molded Fox News into a force that irrevocably changed the conversation about the highest levels of government. To understand the events that led to the rise of the modern Republican party, one must understand Ailes. The upcoming limited series takes on that challenge, focusing primarily on the past decade in which Ailes arguably became the Republican Party’s de facto leader, while also touching on defining events in Ailes’ life, including his experiences with world leaders that gave birth to Ailes’ political career and the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end. The series aims to shed light on the psychology that drives the political process from the top down.
