Tonight is the series premiere of Bob Hearts Abishola on CBS at 8:30/7:30c. This is a love story about a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola’s (Folake Olowofoyeku) lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob (Billy Gardell) is determined to win Abishola’s heart, in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America. It also stars Barry Shabaka Henley, Christine Ebersole, Maribeth Monroe, Matt Jones, Shola Adewusi, Travis Wolfe Jr., & Vernee Watson.

Following that is the series premiere of All Rise on CBS at 9/8c. This courthouse drama follows the chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors, and public defenders as they work with bailiffs, clerks, and cops to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal process. Among them is newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick), a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney who doesn’t intend to sit back on the bench in her new role, but instead leans in, immediately pushing the boundaries and challenging the expectations of what a judge can be. The show also stars Wilson Bethel, Marg Helgenberger, Jessica Camacho, J. Alex Brinson, Lindsay Mendez, & Ruthie Ann Miles.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Prodigal Son on FOX at 9:01/8:01c. Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne, The Walking Dead) knows how killers think and how their minds work, because his father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen, Masters of Sex, The Twilight Saga movies), was one of the most notorious serial killers, called the “Surgeon.” Alongside his longtime mentor, Gil Arroyo (Lou Diamond Phillips, Longmire), and detectives Dani Powell (Aurora Perrineau, The Carmichael Show) and JT Tarmel (Frank Harts, The Path), he helps the NYPD solve crimes by profiling killers, while also dealing with a manipulative mother, Jessica Whitly (Bellamy Young, Scandal), an annoyingly normal sister, Ainsley Whitly (Halston Sage, The Orville), and a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son. It also stars Keiko Agena (Dirty John) as Dr. Edrisa Guilfoyle.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Bluff City Law on NBC at 9/8c. Coming from a famous Memphis family known for taking on injustice, brilliant lawyer Sydney Strait used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to him for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of her loss, hoping to reconnect with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his firm. She agrees because despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world…if they can ever get along. The cast includes Jimmy Smits (24: Legacy, Cane, Outlaw), Caitlin McGee (History of Them, Libby & Malcolm), Scott Shepherd (The Young Pope), Barry Sloane (Gotham, Revenge, Six), Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson (24).
